I've never been on the Zion is fat train but things have changed... YIKES!

Shawn Kemp kind of had that weird, "it sort of looks like it hurts to walk" pigeon-toed gait that Zion has.
Yeah, he did. And Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant were also pigeon-toed (although not as much). Many super-athletic black athletes are and, oddly enough, there’s a physiological explanation (see link below). Those guys can look awkward when they walk, yet they run like magic.

Of course, Kemp and Zion also share the additional trait of wrecking their careers by getting too fat.

Fascinating. Good share. Thank you!

What in the actual shit is going on? How the hell is he gaining weight now that the Pels staff have been with him for the last 2 months?

Click link to see full image.. the top half doesn't do it justice.

I'm starting to think Zion never plays a game this year. If he's not back by game 50, that's gonna be it. Pels aren't going to risk trotting out a fat Zion only to ruin his body, just so they can win 20 games instead of 15.

needs to cut out the....

I've been here most every day but kept from posting much. Early last season took a lot out of me. I hope all is well with you and your family. You still got it going on. Good posts...
You too! Get on some more, I think this year will be fun. Come back to the game threads periodically when you have time.

No conversation about TRULY FAT NBA players can be held without including Oliver Miller. It's amazing that he was able to sustain himself for a long NBA career. I think the 2002 Oliver Miller might have gone back in time and eaten the 1992 Oliver Miller.

How in the world did that dude play 10 years in the league, I can see 1992 but wow the Kings and Pacers version looks like he couldn’t even run.

Well, he played only four games for the Kings and never played for the Pacers. I don’t know how that photo of him in an Indiana uniform was taken (maybe it was a summer league thing?), but he was never on an actual Pacers roster.

Miller only had about six seasons where he had a secured spot in the league. After that, he spent most of his time in the CBA or overseas, with only occasional brief callups (basically as a sideshow).

I recall so many people giving us hell when we said his weight would limit his career. Where are those people now?

Yeah IDK.. wasn't hard to see, or even some crazy prediction we made. It also wasn't just hating on him cause he went to Duke, either.

Overweight, big frame, knee and feet problems at 18. I said when he got drafted, that he likely wouldn't make it to 300 games in the NBA. I'm sticking by that prediction.

Yeah I did some reading on him seems like he has a solid first couple years but basically spent most of his time overseas and then for the Globetrotters

He’s gonna be on the All-Time what if list for sure.

Miller actually was a damn good player at Arkansas and his early NBA years. He had elite shotblocking instincts (aided by a crazy wingspan), real good hands and was an excellent rebounder and outlet passer. He knew how to play the post.

But he didn’t know how to put down the dinner plate. The dude ate himself out of what could’ve been a fine career. And looks like Zion’s on the same path.

Put him in for one play each game. Call him, 'The Refrigerator.'...no, wait, that was the NFL

I said this very thing 3 years ago. I myself have a similar style body as he carries. I’m 6’4 and at my heaviest weighed 345 pounds. Finally grew tired of having to special order my clothes and have someone else tie my shoes. He has been catered to his whole life. You gotta have the discipline to know what and when to eat.

I now weigh 255 pounds and I have to watch everything I eat. With the resources he has at his disposal, it comes down to a simple choice. You get what you work for. He could quit tomorrow and never work another day in his life , he’d probably be 450 pounds by next summer. Somebody needs to sit him down.
Good for you! It is not easy to shed weight or keep it off. Keep up the good work, health is most important thing you have

i just hope he doesn’t end up like jared lorenzen. that was a true tragedy what he went through and how it eventually ended. we’re all different and it’s just easier or more difficult for some than others.
