I've never been on the Zion is fat train but things have changed... YIKES!

Yeah he did. As did many of us. We were calling it here a long time before you started posting on here. And many of us were attacked for failing to see his promise. And now, we are being proven right and you’re still trying to win?

Learn when throw in the towel bro. And maybe get a lay of the land before you go on the offensive on people who have been here far longer than you.
Thank you. This guy is a Duke troll.

I’m not trying to win. I just think it’s funny that people want to call a guy fat that sets a Duke vertical leap record, is athletic as hell, and makes almost 11 million a year. Must really suck to be 22, fat, and making such a low salary to work 5 months a year. Just don’t really get the hate. And calling what? Last time I checked, he still wears an NBA uniform. Horrible life he has
You sure do defend and simp a lot for a guy who would never do shit for you. Weird.

Wow, you saw this coming? Too bad every GM in the NBA couldnt. Some NBA team should sign you to keep them from making these horrible decisions
Dec 15, 2019 When the injury hit, I said he wouldn't make it to half his games, and it looks like it will be well under that. Pels are going no where and there's no need to rush Zion back.. Very likely he gets benched.

But I also said that Zion will never make it to 300 career games, and I'm going to stick with that. Just don't think his body can handle the 82-game gauntlet.

This wasn't hard to see coming. Most of us here called it. I also think we might see exactly what I said would happen for the 2020 season: Pels are garbage, and there's going to come a point in this season where there's no reason to play Zion. If he's not back in a month or two, he might not be back this year at all.

I did not think Zion was fat, but believed before he was drafted that he may struggle with that unless he was very disciplined at keeping his weight down, and that his size combined with his crazy athleticism may cause more injuries, which would probably add to weight gain (cyclical). So I predicted a 5-8 yr career.

Barkley was already fat when he was drafted, and showed he could play and be effective like that. But he had the discipline (surprised most) that he trimmed down once in the NBA. And he wasn't nearly as athletic as Zion and stayed pretty injury free.

Kid needs to go to the NFL. The grass would probably be much easier on his joints.

I dont remember Barkley being fat in 1984.

If they didn’t have that concern in the back of their mind then they shouldn’t be doing that job. Hell we all had it. It’s not that difficult to see. He was an Oreo away from 300 at Duke. He’s living in a town famous for its saucy, fat containing dishes all around the world. He’s young, he hasn’t matured enough to be disciplined in his craft. A lot of guys are themselves out of the league. Shawn Kemp got up over 400 pounds. A kid with 100 million dollars in his pocket will eat that 4th double cheeseburger a lot easier than the 12th guy on the bench.

The difference is Barkley never gained weight over the course of his career. Instead, he went the opposite direction. Barkley started out as a nearly 300 pound fat boy when he first showed up as an Auburn freshman, but then he steadily lost weight until he was for awhile playing in the 240s in the NBA. It wasn’t until after he retired that he fattened up again.

The more Barkley played the more weight he lost. Zion is going the opposite way.

No. The “Fat Hami” lines were always very wrong. Zion played nothing whatsoever like Hami, he was one of the best and most efficient players in college hoops history. Very much the real deal.

But this is a real problem. Once heavy dudes start to gain weight without control, they rarely ever make it back to their prior level of athleticism. Bodies peak at different ages, and with heavy guys it tends to happen at an earlier age …sometimes at just like 18 or 19 …and then it’s all downhill from there. Zion looks like he might be one of those guys.

But, unlike some others here, I take no joy in it. I’ve quite enjoyed watching the guy play. Even if he was a Dukie.

Are there many examples of this? I can't really think of who this might have applied to before.

Good lord. When Zion hauls ass, I bet he has to make 2 trips. If you swerved to avoid hitting him with your car, you’d probably run out of gas.

Seriously that dude needs to get it together YESTERDAY.

He got it ALL together...

There are plenty, but one that sticks with me is Shawn Kemp, because he was a superstar at the time, and at only 29 years old, should’ve remained so for some time.

But then he inexplicably and suddenly got fat in 99, and never again regained any of the explosiveness he had before he got fat ...even after he lost the weight soon thereafter.

Dude everyone on this board has talked about his future weight struggles. It's not a hidden secret the guy likes to eat, just look at him.

He's always gonna be someone who is gonna battle being overweight. He needs a dietitian and one pretty fast before those extra lbs start taking lifespan off his knees and ankles.

Geez can he even see his knees and ankles now? (Quasi- seriously)

Zion is a different kind of specimen.
It doesn't even begin to make sense how he leaps off the floor like he does. Crazy athletic. On a missed lay up with defenders around him he goes back up on a 2nd jump faster than anyone I've ever seen. He's been labeled as being overweight and fat since his junior year of highschool but the man is pretty vascular. He can't be too out of shape and have veins popping out everywhere in his biceps and shoulders. Everything about the guy doesn't make sense.

I've never seen anyone have trouble walking like he does

I could do some serious chin-ups when I weighed 180 pounds. At 210-215, not so many any longer...
