I'm sure Ben Simmons has areas of his game he needs to improve on and has plenty of time to do it . OMG is he a recruiting miss ? Keep em coming , I'll be here all day .

Don't think that is fair to Archie. I liked him. One thing you can't say about him is he didn't try. He worked is tail off, but was severely hindered by the fact we played Polson, Harrow and Mays in the backcourt with him. He's now in the NBA playing good minutes, so he had to have been a decent college player. It was just stacked against him in college because of the team he was on.
he isnt a miss. he is performing ABOVE what the realistic expectation of him was. Not way way below like Skal. you can link guys who started slow and developed and i can link guys who are 7ft and were out rebounded by everyone who logged even 1 minute in the game, on both sides. i can also link guys who were highly touted, started slow and never developed. he may get there, for someone who looks as lost as he does, its still a fair debate.
Yeah I thought such a " critical thinker " such as yourself would want to see some FACTS about a subject he has such a strong opinion about . I'm not an expert in " critical thinking " like you , but don't critical thinkers try to look at facts on both sides of an issue and form their opinion ? Maybe you don't want to learn something that goes against your agenda .
It is easier to be a college miss when you are one and done. Archie is my least favorite Cal player. He got better out of college.
He was attacked for it because it was STUPID to bring it up at this point in an 18 yr olds career . Just like it's STUPID for you to try and defend him .
OP, I'm not calling you dumb because Skal has certainly struggled. But his stat lines and struggles are VERY consistent with KAT and Davis this far through the year. They both turned out okay I think? Everyone's still riding high on emotions from our second loss since 2014. Let's all just chill and watch Skal develop into a star.

Cal is a great coach and i appreciate what he has done for our program, skal has a lot of talent and has plenty of time to develope some toughness, but it is fair to ask if he could be a recruiting miss. doesnt mean i dont love uk basketball. in my opinion, where he is drafted and his NBA performance have zero to do with if he is a miss. his college potential being realized while he is still in college will determine that. his softness is a real concern eventhough we are just 7 games in ".

i have no idea how you are so mentally slow that you are still missing the point. I am not saying he is a miss. i am saying its a legitimate debate to have and sunshine pumpers attacked the op for bringing it up. you are literally arguing with me about an opinion i haven't even expressed.
something else that I haven't seen mentioned is part of the problem may be the "new" emphasis on freedom of movement. How many of Skal's fouls have been touch fouls? Putting the hand out for spacing? Add that adjustment to the other adjustments and it's no wonder.
So Noel, Goodwin ( who's doing great in the NBA ) the 6 pick in the draft in WCS, and Piythress ( who's not lived up to expectations but I'll take him on my team anyday even tho he's got or miss ) our misses! That was a great class who lost our best player, and while many well disagree weshouldve made the NCAA that year even without Noel. You can say we didn't " deserve " it, but we did over a few team who made it with one top 50 win.

12 points 4 boards and a block per game for a freshman isn't a miss, he just isn't a late march version of Anthony Davis freshman year. I wouldn't give up on this kid
You're correct if everything that you said....but on the flip side this years draft is shaping up to be the worst draft in the last 10 years at least. And in a draft that shallow and inept Poythress is still on track to not be drafted which is bad.

How is it a legitimate issue to debate whether he is recruiting "miss" or not? Considering that pretty much no recruit ever comes in and has double doubles every game, and every freshmen has slumps and learning curves, what exactly is the case for him to be a miss? Every recruit has weaknesses or areas to improve upon. Whether he was a five-star or not, no coach on the planet would pass on taking someone like Skal, so again lay out the case that makes this a legitimate question.
