Interesting; 2 Guys Picked Marques Bolden To UK Today; 1 A KU Insider

So here's a question... is team USA going to have team's represent them again or was Kansas a one shot trick pony? KU being able to do 2 summer trips while every other team can only do 1 is bogus and is the very definition of unfair advantage.

I know that in the eyes of the superfan the "next class" is always better than what is already on the roster, but I find it difficult to believe that Matthews and Willis won't pick up the majority of the minutes at the small forward next season.

Because they'll have a lottery pick playing ahead of them named Wenyan Gabriel.

Wasn't Duke recruiting most of our players and Cal going after theirs. Right now Cal's got over on K. If He steals Bolden. The tension rises. Lol

If Cal convinces Bolden to come to Kentucky, Kentucky will have everything it needs to win it all in '17, including the coveted number of at least two sub-transcendent players (guys who can score and defend at a lottery-pick level). UK might actually have four of them next year. The only other times UK has had that many of those types of players was 2010 and 2012.

Skal is either going to be a top 15 pick and gone or he's still awful and not scaring anyone away. Lee and Poythress are gone for sure. They will both accept 2nd round picks or playing oversees... they won't improve draft stock with 1 more year so they will earn money while they can. Wynyard and Humphries aren't scaring anyone away. Just like Hawkins and Willis didnt scare Briscoe and Murray away, Bolden sees a starting spot there for the taking.

I also love the KU fan telling us where Gabriel will play when Gabriel came to UK over Duke because he wanted to play SF instead of PF. Gabriel might play some time at the 4 but he'll start games as the 3 man.

Pg- Fox / Hawkins ........ or Simmons if he commits.
Sg- Monk / Matthews
Sf- Gabriel / Willis
Pf- Bam / SKJ
C - Bolden / Humphries

I think then Wynyard and Mulder are victory cigars.

I don't know. I have a hard time believing all five of Lee, Ulis, Skal, Briscoe, and Poythress leave.

I am just baffled that Lee is rumoring to leave UK next year....what skill does he have to earn $$$$ playing b-ball in America. If his dream is to play in Turkey...then fine, but he doesn't have a skill set for b-ball...no shot outside of 5 feet, not much interior post moves, not a huge kid and a very solid athlete but not an elite athlete on any level.

He needs to be back at UK to finish up his degree.

I agree. I think Lee will be back next year and be a 10/10 guy. Just what we need. Solid and experienced. He will be huge to next years group.

I agree. You would think people would stop writing draft projections in absolute tones after Patterson, Jones, WCS, Poythress, the twins, and Dakari all came back for longer than expected. There were even people who wrote in absolute tones regarding Lamb after his freshman year.

The reality is that every situation is different, and the kids in the draft netherworld of the early to mid second round have a real choice to make at the end of the season. The idea that "they will never improve their draft stock" has all sorts of fallacies imprinted within it, and has already been analytically refuted years ago on this message board.

I'd say he's the most likely to return of the six probable departures. All Kentucky needs to round out a super team for next season is one or two of these guys to stick around.

If he returned, Lee would probably start next to Bam, allowing Bam to move to the four spot.

I'm sorry but Lee will not beat out any of next years freshmen bigs. That team is loaded. Possibly the best five Cal has brought in if it stays at five.

I would wager you have said this same thing about numerous UK players who have entered the draft since Cal arrived.
Yeah, mainly Daniel Orton, Dakari and the Harrison twins to name a few. Lee is a notch below them all development wise.

Lee is below Orton?
Are u kidding me? Lee is a damn Junior and has not done one single thing to even come close to suggesting he is ready for the NBA, he doesnt even have one single post move!!!! In my opinion if Lee leaves he will be the least ready of any player that Cal has had leave early since hes been here and it wont even be close.

I keep thinking Bolden will go to KU, since they are likely going to have a gaping hole inside with only Lucas likely back at the 5. That is assuming Diallo improves and leaves.

But Bolden probably waits until Spring to commit. That allows him to see if Diallo leaves and Labissiere and Lee leave.

I think if the starting spot at UK is open for him, he might end up here. Cal's track record is slightly better than Self's when it comes to big men recently.

Still, I have this feeling he goes to KU.

When all is said and done, I think lee will log more minutes in the league than Orton. He may not have post moves, but he does have length, skill and athleticism found for him. He also is coachable, wgich is something Orton clearly lacked.

I seem to remember a Willie-something-or-other who didn't have any post moves go fairly high last year. Mind you, Lee isn't an athletic freak like him, but he's no defensive slouch and has rebounded quite well. Draftexpress has him going 44. If he stays another year, his projection probably drops because of a strong draft next year.

Ulis, Murray, Poythress, Lee will be gone next year. Skal most likely will be here next year. JMO

I think some of you are on crack to say for sure Skal is gone. Potential ?? What potential. He hasn't shown any yet. There are guys working at Sears that may be that tall but you need more than a tall tooth pick to be a lottery pick. If anyone in the NBA picks him as a lottery pick they should be fired. Now sure he may find his place and start to show us things we haven't seen yet. But from the things we see NOW, he isn't going anywhere.

We need to stop rushing him out the door. He may be like Poy and need the extra time to develop. He was thought to be a one year player at the time too.

So a senior Lee can't beat out SKJ?

Bam wants to play the 4. Who plays the 5 in your scenario? Gabriel's coming here because he was essentially told he'd have a chance to play on the wing, so he's starting at the 3.

If you think Lee is coming back because he's a 2nd round pick , then you would also think Poythress and Ulis would return too....... Then its Ulis, Fox, Monk, Gabriel and Bam..... Poy and Lee being backups...

Or both Lee and Poythress will move on and work with unlimited practice time and earn money while they do it.

If Marcus Lee plays in an NBA game within the next 2 years following this year I promise I'll quit posting.

You know the NBA isnt the only place to make money playing ball right? If he can make 350,000$ or so a year over seas.... its worth leaving for. If Lee can't make the NBA now, He's not going to next year either.

As always, it will come down to the kids and what they want. We simply don't know at this point, especially with the kids outside the lottery. My opinion on Lee's possible return (who I still think will leave) has more to do with his limitations than it does with combining him into your notion that I must believe Poythress and Ulis will return simply because I said Lee might. Poythress has now come back two years in a row after he turned down the money between his freshman/sophomore seasons. Lee's never really been in that situation. Plus, I think Alex has an NBA niche as a defender/rebounder. I'm not sure what Lee's role would be. Ulis is NBA-ready. I'd be surprised if he returns.

For clarification, I noted that Lee is the most probable to return, based on his limitations. I don't necessarily think he'll return at all, but if a few guys do come back, it will ultimately be their individual choice, regardless of what the rest of the players decide.

With all due respect we may NEED Bolden a lot more then most on here seem to think next year. We still need a back-to the basket low post scorer. That's not what Bam does and he isn't likely to gain superior post moves next year. He can hit a 15 footer and rebound like a mad man and have put-backs but he doesn't have any post moves right now. Bolden supplies the Cousins/Towns/Randle high percentage low post scorer. Look Fox and Monk are amazingly talented but there is a reason Villanova always flames out in the tournament with phenomenal guard play year-in and year-out. When jump shots aren't falling and you aren't getting foul calls on drives to the basket you need a steady low post scorer you can throw the ball to in the post for a high percentage shot attempt.

Come on down Mr Bolden the BBN awaits your arrival:cool2:

Pretty much a win-win. If Lee returns, UK retains a bouncy veteran who will hunt down every missed perimeter shot to give UK a real chance at another possession.

If Lee jumps for the league, UK can add a legit big with skill to supplement Bam and Gabriel.

Lee is gone.
This years draft is weaker than next years and coming back for a senior year is diminishing returns.

Maybe. I'm sure Dakari and Andrew could tell Lee a little something about 2nd round, unguaranteed summer-only contracts and diminishing returns.

Not sure need is the right word. Not all teams have or need a back to the basket scorer. The 2010 Duke title team had Zoubek, who averaged 5 pts a game.

Seriously, some of you won't be happy until you land every kid in the top 25 every class and will rationalize how each of these kids will play and start.

You do know we have no persuasion over Bolden right? Crying to us about our roster does nothing in the recruitment.

It's like you are trying to convince us to just hand Bolden over to you because sharing is caring. Tough noogies pal....
