Plenty of folks on social media noticed that Calipari said pregame he asked Kentucky State not to play zone defense because he hasn't had the chance to work on attacking a zone offense. It's an exhibition game that Kentucky pays for and these kinds of things are communicated frequently in games that don't count in the record books.

Kentucky thrived against man defense in the first half with a 14-0 assist-turnover tally. Not sure I've ever seen that before. They got a ton of very high percentage shots building a 50-20 halftime lead.

The ball movement was excellent. This team's ball movement has a chance to be special. Edwards puts the ball on the floor on the baseline, he finds an open shooter in the opposite corner. DJ Wagner frequently penetrated into the paint and dumped off nice passes in tight windows. Dillingham does what he does distributing. Mitchell is good at interior passing and also orchestrating the action from the top of the key or the foul line. Great ball movement.
Kentucky also really extended the defense, contested tons of passes, and got into the lanes. That led to a lot of turnovers and the Cats did not shy away from opportunities to press the tempo.

Justin Edwards came out of the gate very impressive. He showed off what made him a top prospect with 10 points right off the bat and then he deferred.

Obviously not great competition tonight, still don't see the bigs playing, but a much sharper product from Kentucky start to finish tonight. Good finish to the exhibition season. This team has a lot of guys who have one or two areas where they are very strong but pretty much everybody moves the ball well.

25 assists on 37 field goals compared to 5 assists on 19 field goals for KSU.
