The Athletic used a point system and the input of college basketball experts to rank College Basketball Blue Bloods...
It's now official: IUse2Be is a "used to be" when it comes to Elite Blue Bloods.
For those who can't open this and don't want to subscribe, the top rank is Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, UCLA and UConn. The second tier includes U6, Arizona, Michigan State, Villanova and the Hoosiers...Gonzaga is listed just below that rank as a (2B.)
I guess only getting past the Sweet 16 once in over 30 years -- since March, 1993 -- and winning nothing - not even a BIG-10 conference tournament in 37 years proved enough to get dropped from the Elite ranks. Gee, that seems harsh.
The rankings go down fast from there to 3rd Tier schools like Arkansas, Georgetown, Cincinnati, and so on.
