If you are actually surprised, enraged, etc, just consider the following

This is pretty much how I see it as well. Considering CMP had a very short window to actually assemble this team, and considering that we knew going into the season we didn't have an elite type of roster, I was expecting a season much like Pitino's first team , a .500 type of year, and it may very well end up like that.

We simply don't have the Jimmy's and the Joe's, we all know that, but they're coming, we just have to be patient. It's tough to watch your team lose, but it's even tougher to watch them lose when they have no fire or energy, so CMP has to find a way to get his guys fired up each game. You can play above your overall talent level if you give 110% and play your game. We've seen that in the 2nd half against Puke and the Zags so it can be done.

Amari Williams needs to be a bench player, period. Bring him in to spell Carr, but Carr should be our starting 5 from this point forward, IMO. We have several "weak links", but honestly, didn't we already know/expect that before the season tipped? We're already ahead of where I thought we would be with our record, but with league play to begin soon I fear we will need to temper our expectations a bit. I just hope everyone understands we have a very limited roster and gives CMP a pass for this year. I don't think there's a coach in the country who could do more with this roster than what CMP has already done. I expect many more losses to come, but I hope like hell we can find a way to beat Cal and Arky.
100% agree. When we are struggling like we were yesterday from 3, it would have been nice to be able to go inside for a high percentage shot from a big man. Carr was struggling yesterday but normally he's really good around the basket. Neither Williams or Garrison have much to offer offensively.
Heck, I wish Perry or Chandler had launched a couple 3's in their short time in the game. They had space to shoot. Robinson airballed a couple 3's and OSU shut down Brea.

We will figure this out. Yesterday was just a really off game IMO.

Most coaches in college and especially professional sports have a lot more coaching experience than 10 years. 10 years isnt much at all, especially when you're talking about coaching at UK. That's young, he's definitely not a coaching grey beard.
Also, 50 years old is not exactly on the young side, but that's not even close to old when talking about coaching.

He is actually 52 years old.

We will just have to wait and see how they play against Brown next Tuesday the 31th. Is this a team that just get up for the big games? We have seen that in the past.

I'm just not going to get high or low this season on the team. I'll enjoy our big wins, like the Duke game, and get peeved by the losses, like the OSU game, but I'm not gonna dwell on them past that very night.

Like someone said in another thread, after what we went through with Cal the past several years if you aren't enjoying this ride, there's no helping you.

This disaster drill conversation is ridiculous.

The fact this team is top 15 is a testament to both players and coaching staff.
If ever, EVER there was a rebuilding year this is it. A school with NO PLAYERS, not one when this staff got here.
Guys that never hit the floor at the same time trying to become a team....beating two very legit final four caliber teams....that's unreal.
It's great being a UK fan...for heavens sake enjoy the ride.

Ohio State basically was in the same spot. New coach and many new players. Many teams have had to replace rosters. This is now going to be routine for a lot of teams, including us.

I think the thing is this.

Going in with all the transfers, you didn't know what to expect. The expectations were reasonable at that time.

Then wins happen over Duke and Gonzaga. 10-1. 4th in the country. 1 seed discussion. All of a sudden the expectations rise.

I think if you asked people at the beginning of the season would they take this, everyone would be on board.

But now there's some bit of disappointment because this team just might not be what people were expecting at 10-1, top 5 in the country.
I think this is where most all of us were. We were doing so good and ranked so high that we all suddenly thought we had a great chance to be a title contender. I now believe reality hit us in the face Saturday. We still coukd maybe do well in the tournament but this team is not quite as great as we might have thought at 10-1. Still a great group of guys to watch and cheer hard for and I'm in no way giving up on Pope either.

Totally agree with everything.
