100% agree. When we are struggling like we were yesterday from 3, it would have been nice to be able to go inside for a high percentage shot from a big man. Carr was struggling yesterday but normally he's really good around the basket. Neither Williams or Garrison have much to offer offensively. This is pretty much how I see it as well. Considering CMP had a very short window to actually assemble this team, and considering that we knew going into the season we didn't have an elite type of roster, I was expecting a season much like Pitino's first team , a .500 type of year, and it may very well end up like that.
We simply don't have the Jimmy's and the Joe's, we all know that, but they're coming, we just have to be patient. It's tough to watch your team lose, but it's even tougher to watch them lose when they have no fire or energy, so CMP has to find a way to get his guys fired up each game. You can play above your overall talent level if you give 110% and play your game. We've seen that in the 2nd half against Puke and the Zags so it can be done.
Amari Williams needs to be a bench player, period. Bring him in to spell Carr, but Carr should be our starting 5 from this point forward, IMO. We have several "weak links", but honestly, didn't we already know/expect that before the season tipped? We're already ahead of where I thought we would be with our record, but with league play to begin soon I fear we will need to temper our expectations a bit. I just hope everyone understands we have a very limited roster and gives CMP a pass for this year. I don't think there's a coach in the country who could do more with this roster than what CMP has already done. I expect many more losses to come, but I hope like hell we can find a way to beat Cal and Arky.
Heck, I wish Perry or Chandler had launched a couple 3's in their short time in the game. They had space to shoot. Robinson airballed a couple 3's and OSU shut down Brea.
We will figure this out. Yesterday was just a really off game IMO.
