Rick Pitino has said he's not even going to recruit high school kids at all, that they are a bad bargain when highly talented and highly experienced players exist in the portal. Sign men, not boys.
And yet Kentucky is supposed to "worry" if one high school kid signs with Louisville?
I'm fine with Kentucky signing Ament, as long as the cost doesn't become ridiculous, which it very well may. But the Cats have several high school kids coming in next year already. For the remaining team slots, I'm more interested in Kentucky signing 3 or 4 of the very best players available in the portal. Setting aside Cooper Flagg, I'm not sure how many freshman I'd rather have than Butler, Robinson, Williams, Carr, Brea and so on. And while I believe he's a good player, he's not Flagg.
After Calipari's last five years, in which Kentucky continued to have top rated freshman classes as the game was rapidly changing to favor experienced portal players, I'm finished with celebrating Big Recruiting Wins.
