Aaron torres "multiple sources think kentucky may be on top for nate ament " but

Look, I can’t stand anything UL and I sure as hell hope they strike out with Nate. But, if they do in fact get him to go along with Mikel Brown along with who they have returning? They’re gonna be a really good, well coached team. I hate to admit that Kelsey has them rolling and doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all. If Ament does go to UL, we are gonna have to win BIG in the portal to hold serve. Gotta fight like crazy to stay out in front of this rivalry!!!
We already have one to two freshmen set to start next season, if Ament comes he’s probably assuming he starts. I don’t know about that. Can you get a more known commodity at his position for the same or less in the portal? If he comes, great, if not, I won’t be torn up about it.

I have a couple of UofL fan friends/coworkers who were celebrating UofL being back because they were rolling through the ACC and were a projected 7 seed. They were high fiving each other over a 7 seed. We’d be ticked off if we were a projected 7 seed even with all of our injuries.

Speaks volumes about the two fan bases, IMHO.
As much as I hate UL, can’t really blame them after the last two Kenny Payne seasons. High fiving may be a little bit much, but they have reason to be at least a little excited.

This board is hysterical. Just like all the UL fans talking smack over their run through a watered down ACC. Somehow forgetting that we already beat them this year (and every other year, basically).

Both teams started from pretty much the same place this summer. We’ve had a better season. But they have something to crow about?

Not a bit shocked. Lived among these morons for long enough to see everything. Any actual UK fan letting it bother them…is probably not an actual UK fan.

Cmon now man. I’ve lived in Louisville all of my 46yrs and have to put up with it daily. The simple fact is that UL is improving at a rapid pace under Kelsey. I’m not at all taking away from our win against them or from our season! Simply saying that “if” they land 2 top 10 guys in this class they take another step in improving further. It all starts with recruiting.

Rick Pitino has said he's not even going to recruit high school kids at all, that they are a bad bargain when highly talented and highly experienced players exist in the portal. Sign men, not boys.

And yet Kentucky is supposed to "worry" if one high school kid signs with Louisville?

I'm fine with Kentucky signing Ament, as long as the cost doesn't become ridiculous, which it very well may. But the Cats have several high school kids coming in next year already. For the remaining team slots, I'm more interested in Kentucky signing 3 or 4 of the very best players available in the portal. Setting aside Cooper Flagg, I'm not sure how many freshman I'd rather have than Butler, Robinson, Williams, Carr, Brea and so on. And while I believe he's a good player, he's not Flagg.

After Calipari's last five years, in which Kentucky continued to have top rated freshman classes as the game was rapidly changing to favor experienced portal players, I'm finished with celebrating Big Recruiting Wins.
BOOM goes the dynamite !

absolutely killer stuff there, MdWildcat... killer comment. I'd like to second that for every "old timer" "blue hair" and any other halfway "old" fan around here. I seen a lot of comments, but yeah. Spot on, brother. (and the Pitino comment ... that is the WISEST thing I've heard come from a coach's mouth for perspective on the game nowadays.

POST OF THE YEAR

So you’ve read that we’ve offered a bigger NIL DEAL than UL or Duke? If so, I’d be much more positive about our chances here. Apparently this is the biggest factor in his recruitment.
According to an article yesterday, UK has the highest offer with UT and UL 2/3. They also said UK’s offer wasn’t as crazy as some others have gotten. Duke paid so much for others plus returning guys that they made a lower offer.

I think I understand, too, Hytchye. It doesn''t need be alarmist or whiney about lil' brother. Good points. It is rather remarkable Kelsey has made such a turnaround from the absolute dumpster fire that was Louisville. And we do want to see Kentucky land the recruits they prioritize. As they do Ament, as anyone should.

I also would say it was nice beating Louisville again this year. And I'll just trust in Pope no matter how it goes.

If we return playing a regular season game with Indiana (which they are hell bent on making happen again) between Indiana back on the schedule and @Louisville already shape up to be HUGE games already.

Well, maybe not Indiana. They suck. It'll be nice beating them again next year when we do play them. Everyone around here knows I'm all for that.

But yes. Kelsey deserves keeping an eye on and keeping on top of the situation. Kentucky basketball is so much better than anything tobacco road has ever had. Just sayin. SEC rules this year.

Go Big Blue !

Exactly Rupp! We need to stay in front of the shit birds at all cost!!!

Supposedly the end of the world when Pitiner went there. He couldn't beat Tubby or Calipari and would up vacating more than 100 wins and a championship. lol I'm sure as hell not worried about those bums getting this or that player.
Agreed. The last thing I'm going to do is worry about what little brother is doing for next year. Or any time unless they are our next game. We've got plenty on our plate to finish this season out.

The deflective "Kentucky can't keep up in the NIL arms race" propaganda doesn't fit this narrative.

Isn't Kentucky supposed to be this bankrupt state that can't afford to keep up in the NIL world, according to some of you who keep screeching out about "parity?"

And yet, we're supposed to believe that one city in that same state and it's 2nd tier program can generate more NIL money for an elite prospect than the flagship basketball program?

It's amazing how the goal posts move depending on what narrative folks are trying to shield.

Hate to tell you but….I believe U6 is going to be really good in the near future.

Yea I don't understand how UofL would have a large amount of NIL at all..unless they have some billionaire ceo alumni we aren't aware of. It kind of just takes one, like tyson chicken/ walmart down in arkansas.

UL almost bankrupted the school to compete in sports. At one time they had millions in the school foundation and they raided it for the sports teams. It’s all gone. Their Administration is win at all costs. We will pay the bills later. Mitch and Eli are anything but that. Word is they take more for the school from football funds than any SEC foe.
The two schools objectives are completely different.
I want to win , but the university is there to educate youth. Not win basketball games.
UL administration has forgotten that.

Duke lives up to their founder's namesake every day. A slimy, monopoly loving greedy prick.
They're just living out their founder's principles.
Duke reminds me of politicians. They act all high and mighty telling everyone how to do things the right way with principles.
As they prop Zions ugly azz momma and daddy up in one of coach Ks properties.
Hypocrites.

Why is it if a kid chooses UL, it is all about the $$, but if a kid chooses us, it is all about Kentucky. We can't have it both ways. If a kid is after the $$ and he chooses UK, we drapped a bag just like any other school. Some kids could care less about KY basketball regardless of the $$. Some kids will chose KY and the $$ will have zero to do with their decision. We will never win them all and we will not lose them all bcause someone else paid more $$. We are not the only place a kid can go and be successful. It has been 13 years since we would have been the most successful place for a basketball recruit. Since 2012, we have not been the best destination for a recruit. All this said, does not in any way suggest that a kid would not be very lucky to play basketball at Kentucky, it means we are not the only right option for kids to play their college basketball. We as fans, need to realize if Ament choses a school other tha us, we will be fine and he may have a wonderful one and done season. Most likely, wherever he choses to play, he will not raise a championship trophy next March. This is call RECRUITING in a dysfunctional NIL recruiting world.

Who freaking cares? The kid could be a bust just as easily as making any meaningful impact at all. Some of y'all are still living a decade ago. Recruiting is a two front battle now. Give me the proven guys and let's roll.

WE Western Kentuckians have no love for the name Duke. Long before there was ever a Laettner or even CBB.

I used to dislike UL so much that I had bad days over them. Jurich, Pitino, Ramsey, Petrino, etc. I really couldn’t care less about them now. The city is terrible, their athletic dept is awful … I could go on. Kelsey seems to be a good guy and a good coach but if a kid chooses UL over UK (and many others) then he’s just making a bad choice imo. Now when it comes to money and NIL I don’t know enough to even debate it. GBB.

If Kelsey doesn’t have a contract extension in place in five weeks I’m not sure he will be at Louisville next year. If Cincinnati fires Wes Miller then Pat Kelsey will be their first call. That’s his hometown. And he will listen if he’s not already locked up.

He is signed through 2029.

It hasn’t been about the name on the front of the jersey since the 70’s and maybe to in state kids. It’s always been about the money legal or otherwise

You may want to let our coaching staff know about a mic drop up in New York. Because pope is working his ass off to land Ament. Just like he did with Wilson. Everyone wants to claim pulling top ranked freshman don’t matter. But want to ignore the fact that pope himself doesn’t agree with them.

Do we trust pope or not?
