If Reed doesn’t start it will be criminal.

At this point, what else does he have to do to earn it? I know some here think that as long as he gets the majority of minutes it doesn't matter, but I disagree.

Good starts can be what mitigates any run later on from the other team. Cal's lucky that Reed has no ego and comes off the bench without fuss.

Nope. Insanity! Reed is clear cut our best PG. Not even close.
He’s our best player all around.

I like the spark he and Dilly bring off the bench, which is about 3.5 to 4 minutes in the game.

Anyway, does anyone think what we coach on this message board carries any weight with the coaching staff?

🤣🤣

This is just some speculation on my part and SIAP, but I think this is Cal's logic. At the beginning of the game teams are rattled and more likely to miss their shots. Do I have analytics to back this up? Of course not. Then around three to five minutes everyone gets settled down and plays better offense. I think by bringing in Reed (and Rob) at this point it messes with the opponents' heads enough to make it worthwhile.

I think he should start but can live with it as long as he starts the 2nd half if the usual starters don’t have it (like tonight). I feel like it fluctuates game to game, tonight the starters got off to awful starts both halves, but in the Auburn game they did a great job setting the tone both halves.

It’s some insane logic to bench your best players to start the game you end up in a hole like tonight

Starting matters no one that has played organized basketball believes otherwise. i would love to see it happen, but let’s be real there is zero chance that Reed will ever start. I think it would take some pressure off DJ honestly and allow him to let game come to him instead of pressing the issue. It should have been done 2 months ago.

Reed needs to start - believe it or not every point counts whether it's the first few minutes of the game or the last.

UK can't keep spotting teams 7-9 points it's really that simple.

Reed needs to be our starting PG and control the game from start to finish. I want him with the ball in his hands... good things happen.

I believe it was 21-5 across the start of both halves before we made a substitution.

And yet Cal will keep running Wagner and Edwards out there. They will start the game that we get bounced, and not a single reporter will ask him why he didn’t try to do something different and start his two lottery picks.

This is silly

The last few years, UK has had crippling injuries by tournament time from over-playing the stars. So, pick your poison. Gratification now or develop lots of players? If I know my RR posters, they want both. Fortunately they have a place to scream out their unhappiness.

So is your argument that we should just sit him on the bench. Your post is a stupid attempt at making the people here look dumb for asking the obvious questions. Reed should start and everyone knows it but the coach. Reed is a totally different type of kid than the guys we had last year. If Reed is hurt you can bet its an ACTUAL injury not like the quitter we had last year who pouted his way out the door. Try again.
