My father started with IBM in the 1950's and back then IBM, no shit, had a SONG BOOK that all employees had to take to meetings/conventions with them so they could sing along. Songs that lauded the company, and songs that praised and gave thanks to the founder, Thomas Watson Sr. 😐😐😵😵 For a long time, I thought he was pulling my leg, but..

Thomas Watson is our inspiration,
Head and soul of our splendid I.B.M.
We are pledged to him in every nation,
Our President and most beloved man.
His wisdom has guided each division
In service to all humanity
We have grown and broadened with his vision,
None can match him or our great company.
T. J. Watson, we all honor you,
You're so big and so square and so true,
We will follow and serve with you forever,
All the world must know what I. B. M. can do.

That is some Lumon level, insanity... 😵 🤣🤣🤪🤪

Yeah, Austin got a massive influx from Lexington back then. Just as Lexington got a huge influx of IBM'ers from Poughkeepsie, NY in the 50's/early 60's

A bunch of kids in my age range that grew up in Lexington were born in Poughkeepsie.

My Dad was offered a chance to move to Austin when I was 5 or 6 but declined. Thanks DAD... 🙄

My Dad is Big Blue thru and thru. Most people from that era were. I mean, cultish oddities aside, it was the best company in the world to work for at the time.

Yes, I do. And I'm STILL pissed about it.

I love Kentucky, so no offense to it, but Texas is my favorite place I ever lived (San Angelo in 1986)

My plan was to move back when I retired, but life circumstances didn't allow it.

Those lyrics are way too similar to the DPRK banger about Kim Jong Un:

1. He is the driving force behind Korea

People’s fate is hoded by him in his embrace,

And his ideals and our dreams and hope

Which will make all our flowers bloom

Great Comrade Kim Jong Un

We will follow you only

Great Comrade Kim Jong Un

We will be loyal to you

2. His brilliant ideals represent our goals

The Brilliant Commander’s will is the people’s victory

Along the only road he marked

Ten millions advance like a storm

Great Comrade Kim Jong Un

We will follow you only

Great Comrade Kim Jong Un

We will be loyal to you

3. Even if the heaven and earth change

You will remain in our hearts

To the end of life

We will uphold your leadership

Great Comrade Kim Jong Un

We will follow you only

Great Comrade Kim Jong Un

We will be loyal to you

I remember a friend saying his father had to wear certain clothing. I think it was black slacks and tie with a white shirt, and he had a closet full of identical items.

Beats the crap out of the shitty leadership that plagued Lexmark for decades. A bunch of golden parachute ass clowns at the helm then sold to a Chinese company...then acquired by Xerox. Just mixing up the chemistry among the workforce and staple specialties to see what sticks to the wall.

Lexmark was a shit show. My dad was a long time IBMer. Left after the nonsense management decisions at LexMark were made.

I spent almost 2 years helping Lexmark develop a bubble sheet printing and scanning system for FCPS. Finally got it working, and then it was scrapped due to "lack of interest". LOL I couldn't even quantify the number of hours I spent in meetings with their developers.

MC, your dad was just looking out for you. He knew how great things were in the Hood. 😁
