So just how good was that 2017 Class?

I think that any class that ends up with 50 percent (+) graduating/drafted is pretty darn solid.

How many times in the last 30 years have we seen classes of 25 or more whittled down to 8-12 seniors 4/5 years later?

Here is the list of our haul from February of 2017, and my recollection of their status.

(1) A. Abadi-Fitzgerald, DE, Lakeland, FL, 6'7", 240, 5.6, (Senior, 2021);

(2) Lynn Bowden, ATH, Warren, OH, 6'0" 185, 5.8 (Drafted, 2020);

(3) Yusuf Corker, DB, Stockbridge, GA, 6'0" 173, 5.7 (Senior, 2021);

(4) Jordan Wright, DE Fort Lauderdale, FL, 6'5" 230, 5.7
(Senior 2021);

(5) Isaiah Epps, WR, Jenks, OK, 6'3" 185, 5.6 (Senior 2021);

(6) Joshua Paschal, DE, Olney, MD, 6'4" 255, 5.8 (Senior, 2021);

(7) Lonnie Johnson, DB, Garden City, KS, 6'3" 210, 5.6 (Drafted, 2019);

(8) Sebastien Dolcine, OL, Miramar, FL, 6'4", 285, 5.4 (?);

(9) Naasir Watkins, OL, Olney, MD, 6'4" 283, 5.5 (Senior, 2021);

(10) Chris Whittaker, DE, Hollywood, FL, 6'3" 256 5.5 (?);

(11) Danny Clark, QB, Akron, OH, 6'3" 230, 5.7 (Transferred);

(12) Michael Nesbitt, DB Lauderdale Lakes, FL, 6'0" 174, 5.6
(?);

(13) Cedrick Dort, DB, West Palm Beach, FL, 6'0", 165, 5.4 (Senior, 2021);

(14) Clevan Thomas, WR, Pembroke Pines, FL ,5'11",191, 5.7
(Senior, 2021);

(15) Joshua Ali, WR, Hollywood, FL
5'11" 173, 5.6 (Senior, 2021);

(16) Phil Hoskins, DT, Highland, KS
6'5" 275, 5.7 (Drafted, 2021);

(17) Tyrell Ajian, ATH, Mansfield, OH 6'1" 185, 5.8 (Senior, 2021);

(18) Alex King, DE, Mason, OH, 6'3" 224, 5.7 (?);

(19) JaVonte Richardson, ATH Maple Heights, OH, 6'4" 205, 5.9
(Transferred);

(20) Jamin Davis, LB, Ludowici, GA 6’ 2”, 189, 5.5 (Drafted, 2021);

(21) Austin Dotson, OL, Belfry, KY, 6'6" 295, 5.4 (Senior, 2021);

(22) Quinton Bohanna, DT, Cordova, TN, 6'4" 280, 5.5 (Drafted, 2021);

(23) Bryant Koback, RB, Holland, OH, 5'11" 191, 5.6 (Transferred);

(24) BC Walker Wood, QB Lexington, KY 6'0" 189 5.6 (Transferred);

So far, by my recollection, we have 11 Seniors in 2021 out of 24 recruits, and five have already been drafted, meaning at least 16 of the 24 finished their college career at UK, or are in their Senior season, upcoming.

I put question marks after some names like Nesbitt, Whittaker, King and Dolcine, who I think have transferred. Correct me if I’m wrong on some folks’ status.

And I think several more will be drafted; Pascal, J. Wright, Y. Corker, T. Ajian spring to mind, and maybe Ali and a lineman or two if they blow up the combines.

Altogether, the 2017 Class could easily account for 10 NFL draftees when all are counted (even excluding Koback, who will likely be drafted out of the MAC).

Thanks for the research, Lot of very good players in that class, hated to see some of them transfer, Koback in particular.

I am almost certain Dolcine and Nesbitt transferred but unsure where. A good class indeed. Also shows that athough we blow a good bit of smoke about recruits, its hard to tell how they will end up. Fifty percent being big contributors is really pretty amazing. I think it usually averages out to about a third.
