I Don't Usually Get Scoop....BUT

Who really cares??? The prisoners running the asylum is why UK is a laughing stock & this coach is a joke.
Ugo is not that talented, he is slow off the ground to block shots. But I would bet that is why he came back is because ccc promised him the starting position.
Not that Brown is any better. I think he was a 5* out of high school & hasn't improved too much. Personally, I would take Cyril instead of Brown based on ability only. I don't think Brown is much of a shot blocker either.
That’s what I’m getting at - that Ugo was going to leave, but then stayed. I’m not saying I would personally go with Ugo - but I am saying that Cal made some kind of promise to the dude.

Ugo wants minutes but the writing has been on the wall for him that cal wants another big. He knows he’s not ready to be a starter for a winning team. Someone with more experience. No matter who we land ugo will get his 20 mpg he’s not preventing us from getting another big unless they are afraid to compete with ugo.
If Ugo plays 20 minutes plus per game we are heading to the NIT which we may be already but that will guarantee it.

And that's where the culture needs to change, NOW. These kids from the time they were little have had to compete for playing time. It makes team better. This ME ME ME culture needs to be gone. If Ugonna doesn't want to compete let him go elsewhere, and the consequences will fall on Calipari for letting it happen in the first place.
When has it happened at UK? If a kid is that good, he will be on the floor

Ralphdaltonfan posted in another thread that UK was hoping to get two of Brown, Cyril, and Kaluma.

So maybe we get both?

We could use all three.

Honestly I'd prefer all 3 and say ugona ugona.

Not an option but think I'd prefer those 3 if given choice.

Confirmation right here that not all the Cal lovers are trolls. Some are just ignorant.
Tell me where it happened.
Confirmation that you just bitc* and complain about everything but have nothing to prove it. Some of you just talk and gather around one another . Like it's gonna accomplish something the more you bitch and complain

Haha thank you.

Would be so incredibly pumped about this one- but I posted in the other thread that if Somto is ready to commit, you have to take it.
Can you take a commitment if he isn't finished with schoolwork to reclassify?

Newsflash to everyone on this board. No player with any balls wants to come off the bench.

100% agree we take him though. If ugonna don't like it he is stuck here another season anyways.
Can pull a Wheeler. But if he does it by mid year, he could transfer out and be eligible next year.

Oh man, all 3 would be a total grand slam and probably make us preseason number 1 or 2.

Get Brown and Kaluma, you're probably preseason top 5.
I wouldn’t go that far.

But all three would solve our problem with lack of experience and depth inside.

A rotation or Kaluma, Bradshaw, Brown, Cyril, and Onyenso in the frontcourt would be pretty solid.

Then hopefully a Wagner, Edwards, Dillingham, and Mulchahy rotation in the backcourt.

Sheppard, Thiero, Burks, and Hart to round out the roster.

That’s 13 scholarships with elite talent (Wagner, Edwards, Bradshaw, Dillingham, Cyril) and some experience (Brown, Kaluma, and Mulcahy) plus hopefully some guys that will stick around to become upperclassmen in the next few years (Thiero, Onyenso, Sheppard, Burks, Hart).

Not the perfect roster, but at this point as good as one could hope for.

if that roster could some how happen, it would be more than magical. Instead of pulling a rabbit out of a hat, it would be more like pulling a gold bar from the Ft. Knox vault.

Sounds good for Cyril. What's your take on him?
Big fan of his physical traits. He won't be someone that physically can't handle CBB. He's got strength and that will help. It's not like a 7'0 180 lb guy or something. He's a legit 250-260 and chiseled. If you are going to add a FR at this juncture-he makes the most sense. I also am very high on Joey Hart due to his skill and athleticism. I think he'll translate well to CBB and think he's the type you target. I'd go all in Kaluma as we talked about last week and they are, and I love the idea they reached out to Paul Mulcahy of Rutgers. He's a perfect type of player/fit for what a young team needs. Doesn't need to score to make an impact and is a winning player. Same with Kaluma. I like Jordan Brown is out in Portal and only thing I've been told in terms of recruiting is there will be 2/3 other options available soon from Grad Student route but no names were given. The Cats like the guys they are on now but will be open to adjusting if they have to.

This has been handled oddly and not how any of us want to see it. But the main thing is to finish up strong and hope that happens. Doubts? Understand any/everyone who has them. I get it. We're in double digits of JUNE tomorrow and they have a tournament a month from now so the roster should be finalized.

Do you think these guys are a better fit than Burks? I like his game after watching some high lights

Then take Brown and Cyril and tell Onyenso to hit the bricks if he doesn’t want to compete for minutes.

I personally think those two are better than Onyenso.

I usually side with the players we already have in house, but we need talent and can’t be held hostage by these kids.
I agree that we can't be held hostage by the players. I'm really getting sick and tired of some players TELLING what position they will play and if so and so comes then I won't come. What happened to COMPETING for playing time? Or are they not confident in their own ability to win playing time? Sounds to me like they're afraid of a little competition. They want to be "top dog" but don't want to work for it. That's why I like Sheppard. You don't hear stuff like that about him, and from what I do hear, he's seems to be a team player, works hard and has a high be iq. I'm not just saying that just because of who his dad is and that he is a KY kid. I've seen him play, I've talked to people and read about him. I'm just afraid that Cal won't give him a chance. Ok, I have ranted and rambled enough about this for now. Sorry. I have my moments when something gets under my skin. And that goes for Reeves, also. We can't be held hostage waiting for him to make a decision. Tell him to make up his mind or we're finding someone else. I know people think we need him, and we probably do. But we possibly lost out on some players because of him. Oops, I said I was done. Well, NOW I am...promise.😉 It's just that some things make me CRAZY!!!😜

The way things have been going for Cal getting one will be lucky. But getting 2 would almost be a miracle. Count 3 as a fantasy.

I have never remembered when Coach Cal started promising starters and minutes per game. I just remember when Cal was going strong after Trae Young and when the two had there talk Young was asking starting, minutes per game, shots per game, scoring, etc. That is when Coach Cal mentioned then there is No Guarantees in Starting, Minutes per game, shots per game, etc that would happen at Summer Practice before start of the season. That is when the Trae Young recruiting went quiet with UK and Young committed to OU. I thought Cal has always said that the Starters, Rotations, Minutes, etc. would be decided during Summer Practice. If both Ugo and Bradshaw are complaining about Recruits like when Dickinson visited Kentucky then say Goodbye! If you have good players and experience players like 6'11 Jordan Brown and Arthur Kaluma interested in coming then go all out and get them here at Kentucky. Brown, Kaluma, Burks, Mulcahy, and Hart would all be Huge along with the 5 Freshmen, Thiero, and Ugo next season. This looks like a Top 5 team next season if Cal and UK can get these players here at UK next season!

Players leave us all the time for their betterment. Turnabout is fair play so the saying goes.

Now, watch him go to Arky or somewhere else. UK has an immediate need, but is UK seen as attractive? With Reeves seemingly moved on, Kaluma would get good minutes at the 3 and 4, it seems. Brown would get good minutes at the 4 and 5. Somto seems like a pure 5. Bradshaw probably needs to play more 4 than 5.

I was told by someone very in-the-know about one more name of someone that may be shortly entering the portal as a grad transfer option that Kentucky is already looking at.

Jordan Brown from Louisiana.

Started his career at Arizona.

6'11 Center

Averaged 19 PPG
9RPG
57% FG

Had 16 points and 7 boards against Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament.

Has 1 more COVID year if he wants to use it, could grad transfer since he's played 4 years.

A name to watch.

I don't usually have scoop (because I never ask this person for scoop) and have never tried to before, so this isn't an attention thing. But he offered this up.

Take it for what it's worth.
Good recon dude!!!!!

That front court would be more than "pretty solid." No one in the country would have more talent there.

Nice job man. Anybody else with real scoop take notes. This is how it is done.
