Just glancing at the list of #1 picks since 1947 and it appears that Cal will be sitting at FOUR after KAT is drafted #1 on Thursday. From just looking at the list, I can't see any other coach with more than two (Wooden had Kareem and Walton, Dean Smith had Worthy and Daugherty, John Thompson had Ewing and Iverson, Coach K had Brand and Irving, Gene Keady had Carroll and Robinson, Bobby Knight had Benson, Denny Crum had Ellison, Larry Brown had Manning, Jim Boeheim had Coleman, Jud Heathcote had Johnson, Jerry Tarkanian had Johnson, Bobby Huggins had Martin, Bill Self had Wiggins, and Roy WIlliams, Tom Izzo, Billy Donovan, and Rick Pitino have each had zero in their careers).

So, it appears that after Thursday night, not only will Cal have the record for most #1 picks, but he'll have at least doubled everyone else.

Also, before any idgit opposing fan decides to try and use this as fuel to start an argument against Cal's coaching abilities, just remember that none of the other coaches listed besides Coach Cal, John Wooden, Dean Smith, Jud Heathocte, and Larry Brown actually won a National Championship in the same year they had their #1 pick(s).

Just because you have the top pick does not mean you have the top team, although it helps. Of course in 2/4 years Cal had the best team (IMO) with Davis in 2012 and Towns in 2015, but Duke was very close, as was Wisconsin and Zona. In 2008 Memphis should have won, but lets not act like KU, UNC and UCLA that year were chop liver. In fact, that parallels 2015 with 4 really good teams. 2010 was all about KU, UK and even Syracuse until Syracuse had its personnel issues, and N. Iowa somehow beat that KU team. That UK team definitely should have made it to the Final Four, and probably won it all given who was left, but stuff happens.
