I am super optimistic

Hillary supporters are sensitive. Maybe you’re one since you got all crazy over a simple joke towards Dave.
Well, I don't have a political affiliation. And nice try, but you are the sensitive one. I did read in another thread that you were coming from a 3 month suspension. I suppose you didn't learn anything? Anyway, good luck to you on here. Have a great weekend.

Yawn.

"I suppose you didn't learn anything from a 3 month suspension".

What did you learn from being banned completely and having to start up a new screename? [roll]

Game Set Match. We're done here.

Why does every thread Cardsstink posts in devolve into nonsense? Every one.

Because there's a pack of nitwits that literraly live here and want to run off anybody that doesn't laugh at their jokes, kiss their arse, etc. But you keep ignoring THEIR nonsense.

Look man it isn’t personal. I’m just a casual observer here. After a while though when it’s always you, maybe take a look at the common denominator.

It’s ok Mr Stink. Ignore those posters. You’re A-OK in my book and it’s a big book. If there was no bad, we wouldn’t know good. Every protagonist needs an antagonist and vice versa. Yin/yang and whatnot.

I'll be alright, thanks. My hat is lined with lead. Pro tip: lead lined hats are hot in the summer.

Now I'm thinking you didn't get banned, but made such a fool of yourself that you decided to ditch that alias and start over. Its not working, you're the same guy. Goodbye forever. A person could only get dumber reading your garbage. Thankfully I'll never see a single post from you again.

For what it’s worth I’ve actually seen Dave kick a dog in person. It was an annoying little chihuahua (which may not even qualify as an actual dog anyway). It was trying to bite his ankle.
I know you're messing around, but I couldn't blame him. I'm not above that, if one is trying to bite me. My neighbor's dog actually did bite my ankle about six months ago. They even told me to kick the shit out of it if it ever attempted that again. AND they're huge dog lovers. Some things cross the line. That is one.

it's good that we are getting a visit from Green

Green is the key to this class, IMHO. He's our best shot at a superstar level (dare I say top 5- LOL) player.

Like to grab Christopher, Green, and Todd this Fall, to get the class rolling. Then return Quickley and Brooks.

I feel like we need at least one superstar (Green) to go with a couple of good returning players.

Every one of Cal's FF teams has had returning talent to go with their superstar players.

I got to thinking, we have been so concerned with elite Freshmen players, that we have forgotten about another key ingredient in a Cal Final Four: experience.

Cal has never ever made a Final Four without at least one returning starter (starting double digit games the previous season).

1996- Padilla, Bright, Dingle, Camby.
2008- Kemp, Anderson, CDR, Dorsey, Dozier.
2011- Miller.
2012- Miller, Jones, Lamb.
2014- Poythress, WCS.
2015- Twins, WCS.

Notice that 96, 08, 12, and 15 were all 1 seeds and all had at least three returning starters.

2011, with only one returning starter, was a 4 seed in the tourney.

2014, with only two returning starters, was an 8 seed in the tourney.

Cal needs talent, but also needs lots of experience.

Just wanted to add another wrinkle in the conversation. LOL!

Good point. Idk about "lots" of experience, but some. Very rarely do we ever return lots of experience.

Good grief. Just because people (rightly) point out that Calipari's teams are better when they have better players (shocked face), doesn't mean all hope is lost if we don't have a top-5 player on the roster.

For my part I think part of the downturn has to do with poor recruiting assistants. One year without a top-5 recruit can be explained 4 years in a row without one and there should be a staff shakeup.

I've thought this for a while and several posters went bat shit. There are coaching shakeups all the time in sports. And I'm not neccesarily saying it's anyone specific, but for Kentucky to lose out on a lot of these top players, I think it's perfectly in reason to get some fresh blood in here.

There is just no reason for a combination of Kentucky and Cal to not land top players.. and to me, it says one of the assistants isn't carrying their weight.

I think several things have coincided to change things after 2014. Bringing in Barbee and Justus, this Nike/LeBron/buying players thing, etc.

Cal with two starters back is lots of experience.

Three starters almost guarantees a one seed and a Final Four, based on his history, especially over the last dozen or so years.

Exactly. Which means if we aren’t going to have upperclassman or returnees that are impactful, we need the composite top 5.

You’re making our argument now.

Yeah, I guess you're right. For Cal, two starters is "lots" I reckon.

This year's team has tons of experience, especially when you use starting as a measurement.

87 combined starts.

Richards- 40 (37 as a Freshman, 3 as a Sophomore)
Hagans- 30
Montgomery- 10
Quickley- 7

185 Games played.

Richards- 74
Hagans- 37
Montgomery- 37
Quickley- 37

3,284 minutes played.

Hagans- 1054 (28.5mpg)
Richards- 989 (13.4mpg)
Quickley- 683 (18.5mpg)
Montgomery- 558 (15.1mpg)

LOL!

You are persistent.

As I said, Cal needs a mix of elite talent and experience.

Best two teams at UK- 3 starters returning (2012, 2015).
Worst two teams at UK- 0 starters returning (2013, 2016).

Look at 2013- 1 composite top 5, but 0 starters returning. Even if Noel stays healthy, we aren't making the Final Four that year.

Look at 2016- 1 composite top 5, but 0 starters returning.

You could argue it was the lack of experience, not the lack of a composite top 5 player, that was the problem for those two squads.

Also, when has Cal lacked returning experience, yet had a composite top 5 player, and made the Final Four?

So, how do you know a composite top 5 player would counter the lack of experience. There's no proof, unless I have overlooked it.

It’s really simple man.

5 final fours with the model that leans on OAD NBA talent, none of those happened without that transcendent composite top 5 player.

Who was our dominant upperclassman starter in 2014? I must have missed that?

@Col. Angus what was the makeup of our starting 5 in 2014?
