I am here for all of it. I will take great joy in every loss, every bs press conference, and all the fall out from it. I only hate it for the former UK players who hitched their wagon to him. May he and his joke of a coaching staff waller in it. He showed no respect for the fanbase, the University, the admin, he leveraged us every chance he could and insulted us while doing it. Thank you Tyson Chicken, you got what you paid for. Have fun on draft day.

John Calipari Reaction GIF by SB Nation

Per Arkansas Athletics, Calipari has signed a five-year contract to lead the Razorbacks with a salary beginning at $7 million per season. The contract runs through April 30, 2029 with a maximum of two automatic rollover years for NCAA Tournament appearances that would extend the contract to 2031.
(Not rolling over another year this year) 😂

It is like the Pitino situation is a lot of ways. The fan base feels like he used and abused us for years at the end and we will rightfully Imo be all over him and celebrate his losses until he decides to come back home and kiss the ring. Once he does that I will welcome him back with open arms but for the time being I hope he never wins again.

Bingo

Not to mention all the finger wagging and chastising many of the talking heads threw our way for wanting him out.

Not to mention the Arkansas beat writers and fans crowing on about “stealing him” and “we were just a jealous ex”.

I’ll enjoy the crash and burn

I despise the guy now, but even this GIF shows the fire he used to have.

He just doesn’t give a flying F anymore. He can’t possibly need the money, I really don’t understand why he’s even doing this anymore.

Just to keep his loser kid employed? That’s all I’ve really got, he ain’t changing families’ lives anymore.

Cal's ego needs to be wanted. And it's possible, the TV talking head fraternity doesn't like him, so maybe he can't pull a Jay Wright.

Pitino left UK a national title contender. Cal left us a ghost town of no team.

Pitinos issued were more post UK and taking one of a few jobs he shouldn't have and then acting a fool to UK fans after doing so.

Don’t feel sorry for the players that followed him! They had 1-2 seasons under his tutelage and should have been able to determine that he did not necessarily make players better, but he sure took the credit. Most of the NBA players coming out of UK were 1 and done no matter the school they attended. High school recruits were blinded by the numbers of players leaving after 1 year and attributed their success to CCC. Our present coach, I believe, cares about the entire team (coaches, admin staff, trainers, 1 and dones, and Walkons, and fans). He obviously loves the university and is a genuinely nice person. Regardless of our record and tournament success this year, I am so happy that he is “our coach.” Mitch has made some mistakes but Mark Pope was and is a home run hire!

should be skeerd... that tweak is coming any day now ;)

He should have retired and been the CEO of NIL and recruiting and ambassador to the program. He could let Pope identify who he wanted. He could be the guy who helped sell them on the school and added his NBA contacts as needed.

The opposite side of the emotional coin was his embrace of Liggins when the 2011 team beat UNC to make the Final Four. I don't think Cal has shown that much genuine positive emotion toward a player in a long time. You can tell how happy he was for Liggins, having toughed out Gillispie's last year, fought for playing time in Cal's first year, only to earn a starting spot while being key to that Final Four run. This is why guys loved playing for Cal.

This will always be one of my favorite moments of the Cal era.

He's changing his families lives. 😂

This is exactly right.

Now he’s a meme in your profile we all laugh at instead. Cuz that shit is hilarious.

I gotta disagree along with several others. These 2 situations were nothing alike. Pitino left UK in as good a shape as anyone could have. So much so that his successor won a natty in year 1. He left for the opportunity to coach the Celtics. A dream job for him and likely the only one he would have left UK for.

Meanwhile, Cal decided at some point that getting guys drafted was more important than winning. When he left he took all his recruits and players with him, leaving the cubbard 100% bare.

Pitino really got into trouble with UK fans when he took the UL job. That made public enemy #1 at that point. UK fans were bummed when Pitino left for Boston, but they hated him for going to UL. But as far as the circumstances of their exits, nothing alike.

Yeah i'm not saying the situation is the same, I'm saying my view of the person is the same. They are the enemy until they realize their mistake and come back to kiss the ring, that is the part that's similar.

I've been reading this thread and its a mirror of what we had here for the last 5 years.
https://forums.hogville.net/index.php?topic=772842.0 - the sad part is its only after 3 months.

I just have trouble working up sympathy for Cal - his arrogance is biting him in the butt right now and his faux humility is no longer believable.

His biggest problem was he was supposed to prove the Kentucky naysayers wrong by going to Arkansas, having all this NIL money and building a team. Instead, he essentially pressed the easy button, brought in whatever players he could take with him from Kentucky - and no offense but Wagner and Big Z aren't going to be game changers. Thiero is much improved but Damion Collins showed him he isn't *that* improved.

Cal had a chance to clean slate - go out and do what Pope did essentially, bring in a top staff, hit the transfer portal and bring in the players, but that would have been too much work. And the players he did bring in, he is doing his "we'll out talent you for the win" which is been a trainwreck of coaching philosophy since 2019,

and Arkansas is now 0-4. We'll call that the "Arkansas Effect"

I really don't think it's a win for Kentucky for Arkansas to be this bad. They are still not incapable of beating Kentucky and taking an L there just makes it all much worse.
