If Donovan was announced as UKs coach, more would enter the portal to pick from I’d think. JQ stays, Travis Perry stays, and if there’s any sliver of hope Reed returns, this would be it.
He’s usually more north east stuff, I’d trust him to know more about Hurley than I would Drew honestly.

There's a lot of BS out there. I have a hard time believing some of the stories floating around. If Hurley is getting offers like that with an incentive, UConn is going to have a hard time keeping up.

Well, if Mitch is doing Drew first because it'll cost us less, Oates would be more $$ than Hurley simply because of the insane $18m buyout. So yeah, I'd say he's going to skip him just due to the money part.

If Drew is Barnhart's first choice that would be disappointing. There are other better coaches. And to not even try for them would not be the right way to go about it. It is like settling before trying.

The coaches payout has nothing to do with tuition, it does at UCONN because the support the athletics program, we don’t. We fund all our stuff and the TV money takes care of the rest. Plus like $8 million of Cal’s salary was from the coaches show and other outside factors that paid him.
Are we gonna pull this off?!? This would be a shot across the bow that we are still the KINGS of college basketball. And the difference between this and a $7mm coach is worth WAY more than $4mm. Let’s get er done.
To my knowledge, Cal didn’t let Kentucky know until today. Therefore, the coaching search couldn’t start until after.
As far as planes, etc. I’m not sure that would happen so quickly. It could happen tonight, though

I mean depending on how good of friends they actually are and how much they talk which i don't know the answer too. However if my best friend was naturally a top 3 candidate for a job I was hiring for I don't think it would be out of the question for me to talk to him and basically let him know that or whatever the situation before I called the top guy. That doesn't mean I'm not trying to hire the superstar who was my top candidate. Mitch couldn't call anyone to try to hire them until Cal notified Mitch that he was leaving.... Mitch can still call his friends and talk about what is going on in his life though....
