Has anyone seen these guys in a practice situation? Just wondering what's going on that they can't get any minutes. With Lee and Poythress giving the front court very little, I'm surprised neither of these guys got off the bench. I understand you earn your minutes in practice, so I'm wondering if anyone can give any insight into how they are doing in practice? Are Lee, Poythress, and even Willis significantly better?

what do you think is going on?

(A) they are both beasts, kill everyone, but Cal refuses to play them to piss off the fans
(B) they both are not that good, not ready to contribute, get lost in practice.

its shocking that people cant figure this out...

Unfortunately, when watching even the first half when we had a lead, I thought, hmmm Wynyard must not be able to contribute anything as there was one point when Cal looked down at the bench to sub for Lee. Then early in the second half I noticed Wynyard bouncing his legs like an actor in the background that wants to be noticed. It didn't work....

Prior to the game, the Lexington newspaper talked about "Kentucky ready to try Wynyard." That fantasy must of come from Tipton. It is challenging to imagine that they are worse than Skal. I really think Cal has pressure and of course desire to play Skal in the hopes of some sort of development. OK he wasn't horrid against M. State but still one wonders if they can't get some minutes to see how they might perform.

Skal was fine in his 14mins. If he gives us 5 points, 4 rebounds and a block in that time...he certainly should not lose anymore mins than he already has. And obviously they are worse or they would play. They obviously can't play D or score enough (cause Willis gets minutes over them too and can't guard a post but can score some so that is why he gets some clock). Obviously Skal and Willis are the guys he feels more comfortable with backing up the starters.

Honestly one has to think this is the case but it is hard to imagine that either has less offense than Lee or worse interior presence than Willis. They probably cant go out on the floor and contest a 3 as well as Willis(wouldn't take much) but there we times in last night's game that they could have seen the floor(to save Lee a foul or two early in the second half)

But if they had given up any baskets needlessly the outcome would have been different...

Like some posters have said I believe that wynard is going to be cals little secret until later in the season.

They are not ready for the stage yet. Cal, Robic, and Payne know who has game & who doesn't. May not see either of them the entire year to be honest.

These guys are 17 year olds from half a world away. They didn't play aau versus top competition. Humphries looks like he has potential but he is not an answer this season. I assume wynyard the same. Instead of throwing crap at the wall to see if it sticks right now cal is doing the right thing by narrowing the bench and trying to develop out top talent and older players. I'm really sick of these threads to be honest. There is a significant reason cal is not playing these guys. It's not like they have something we need and he knowingly is holding them back. He wants to win now as much as any of us. Come up with a new topic bc this one gets a new thread daily

The wood chopper is like Ben Simmons...but a really good version of him. Cal is going to use him as a secret weapon....does not want to allow anyone to scout him prior to the NCAA tourney. In practice, Marcus Lee's nose spontaneously squirts blood like a Golden Corral chocolate fountain, from the mere site of The Wood Chopper removing his warm-ups. Tyler Ulis who fears no man, fears Wynyard. What does that tell ya?

It will be glorious when the Kraken releases the Wood Chopper on an unsuspecting college world. Glorious I tell you.

Both Ulis and Murray said after the Bama game that they were surprised how well Tai Wynyard was doing in Practice already. Murray said he had played with him before and he knew how well Wynyard played and said he just needed to get in game-shape. That is what exactly Coach Cal has said the last couple of times he has been asked is that Wynyard needs to just get in physically game shape to play. I believe like the one poster above said is he will be that huge Tweak we get at end of SEC Play heading to March Madness! Ialso thought Skal played well in 14 minutes and looked more in the game and not lost and was more physical rebounding, scoring, and the Block. Looked much better in the 14 minutes of playing time and hopes he can keep this up and continues to get back where he was in the first 7 or 8 games before the UCLA game!

I've been told Wynyard is dominating the bigs in practice. He's hitting hook shots and using his physicality to push through guys to dunk it. And he'll get a lot of playing time once he gets the hang of our help defense system which is what he's having a little trouble with.

I wonder how many people will believe me because they read the first paragraph and skip this line. Seriously though, if he was playing the way people are hoping (which leads to them asking about him in practice) then Cal would of been playing him in games.

Of course, according to some posters, Cal has said that playing time is earned in practice! So apparently these guys are behind everyone else. I think the few times he has played, Humphries would be a physical post presence and not afraid to mix it up.

not trying to be smart but why the hell did you open and read the entire first page if you are so tired of this topic ??

These two need more practice and playing time to get better but coach has to balance that with playing those he thinks will be best suited to contribute in the tournament. That's not an easy thing to do. Not as easy as some of you think it would be.

I would bet we do not see Wynyard this year at all.
that would be my guess, but you never know. Can't believe he is in that bad of conditioning for a few minutes of court time. If he is awesome, or at least adequate, why wait? If he needs time, why waste a year?

Love the Haka! Wish our guys would learn this and do this prior to tip off!!!

Why in the world would you want our guys doing this? I don't know why some of you think this would scare rugby players. To play the sport of Rugby, it's going to take more than a group of guys moving their hands as a group with their tounges hung out. I guess i just don't get it?

In my opinion I believe that we will see Tai Wynyard play at some point this season!! You have to remember that not only is he trying to get back into playing shape, BUT he is also learning Cal's system!! He got a later start than anyone else on the team and is playing catch up on learning the offense and defense.
