How Much Longer Will ESPN Spout This Duke Has #1 2015 Class Nonsense??

I like Kentucky's class and wouldn't trade it. I like ours best. But it is not far and away better than Duke's class. Simply not true. And while fans love to argue class rankings, hanging banners is really what matters. Kentucky basketball IS all about hanging banners. If you don't think so, then why was everyone so disappointed after we lost to Wisconsin? I'm surprised to see someone seriously try to argue that.

Skal and Jamal Murray both will be in the running for national player of the year by year end. It would surprise no one if Skal is the best big and Jamal Murray is the best guard in the country. Ingram is skilled and very athletic, but he's VERY thin. I can't see him dominating without putting on a lot more weight. On paper the classes look comparable, but if you watched these guys play it's clear that UK's class is considerably better.

I will always argue against the notion that Kentucky basketball is all about hanging banners. That way of thinking implies that the program has only succeeded eight times in history and all other years have been failures. Winning a title is the primary goal but there is so much more to celebrate.

The mistake was not losing before the ncaa's. likenthe one Vegas guy said "Kentucky is a team we have to beat for us to make any money"

Not losing is not a mistake and should never be considered that way. Several teams have gone undefeated in college basketball history and won the title.
As a native Kentuckian and raised in the Bluegrass as a 3rd generation UK basketball fan the defeatist mentality appalls me.[/QUOTE]

to those saying duke fan's don't care about number one recruiting classes. Well I sure did see a bunch of memes on facebook from duke "fans" after thornton committed celebrating dukes number one class this year. They probably printed out posters of that meme.

It was neck and neck for the best class of 2015 between Duke and UK BEFORE we added Murray (a top 5 recruit). Now we add Humphries (a top 30ish player in the loaded 2016 class). He is a borderline 5* for 2015. And we may still add top 35 Wynyard to THIS class.

That makes it a runaway. And YES it matters. ESPN is on this kick that Coach K has somehow eclipsed Cal as the premier recruiter in the nation. They had Duke's class #1 last year and I still think UK's was better. 2016 has yet to be decided but Cal may get his best group ever.

you can relax now...it's not a conspiracy

"you can relax now...it's not a conspiracy"

no this is bias.

when it comes to the ncaa and kentucky, THAT'S a conspiracy.

never will understand why so many of our fans on this board call it rain when they p down our backs. Wildcat guilt?

having your head in the sand and making fun of fellow kentucky fans for not liking the way the rest of the country and the media treats our program and cal doesn't make you a "rational" fan.

Our program's goal is to hang banners. That's exactly why we have 8 of them! We get there by winning. Our program succeeds every time we win a game. Winning games improves our seeding in the NCAAT. If we don't win games, we don't get into the NCAAT. Remember 2010-11? The importance of recruiting classes is as an infusion of new talent that helps us win. I love signing great players, but signing great players is a means to an end. Not an end in itself. You can have the #1 rated recruiting class but fail to win the championship, and that is no consolation whatsoever from my point of view. We need great classes that fill our roster needs. But as long as Calipari accomplishes that, I don't care what ESPN says about our class. We have the class we have. No matter how it is rated, the only issue I can see will be whether this class helps us win. As far as I can see, it is a waste of time to worry about whether ESPN rates our class #1 or #2. But if you derive entertainment from posting about class ratings, pursuit of happiness is your Constitutional right.

Well we now have the #1 class according to both Rivals and Scout, so I'm sure ESPN won't be far behind.
