As if Billy Clyde wasn't enough to convince you then this is a perfect example of why you don't rush out and hire a guy who has a good season and a decent tournament run if you are an elite program like UK, Duke or UNC. He had one decent season at Butler and made a Sweet 16 run so OH State hired him. Since then he has won 62% of his games never advancing past the round of 32. Out of 13 seasons he had double digit losses in 11 and 9 losses in his other 2 but yet some was throwing his name around to coach here. 🤣
I'm thinking both OSU and Michigan 😉 could reach out to Cal.
Well 4-5 years ago, he was an up and coming hot coach.. This is how the best of the best get weeded out. Holtman being a local guy, I was rooting for him.
None that I’m aware of…well other than the whole Aaron Craft incident. Just speculating that they will go after a splashy hire given a firing mid season. Someone the polar opposite of Holtman

Sadly - even now, with the current mid-SEC record, the 4 other SEC teams ranked more highly than UK, and continued a losing record vs top teams, the "who could possibly replace Cal" apologist have their assholes clinching up at the very thought.
The "UK first" crowd would be so excited.

You may be right. Pearl would liven up the big ten. His style of play would help the B10 be more watchable. The only drawback is the fact that Pearl is 64 years old. Still, a good possibility for Ohio State.
Anyone who took the time to watch 15 minutes of Ohio State basketball should have known this guy has no business being on anybody's list for future coach at UK.

BCG had built 2 programs from the ground up before he was hired here. Everyone wanted to him. Arkansas did. It didn't work out but it was not a rushed or unvetted hire. He was a damn sure improvement over what we had though.
Good chance that the Indiana job might open up too. And the UCLA job too...
