Hmm. Aaron Bradshaw

LOL. Yes, he was gambling that he could become entangled in a "domestic matter" and no one would report it to the Athletic Department.

But keep trying. If the utterly improbable, preposterous and almost ridiculous claim that Aaron Bradshaw played a role in fixing games or shaving points or otherwise conspiring with gamblers while at Kentucky last year can be willed into reality, you can do it.

Yea I don't know. You all are tying this up into some weird agenda or want to think I have an agenda or it's your agenda...

I really don't care about agendas. I don't care what is true so to speak. I just don't think logic is being correctly applied here.

Let's go over what we (think) we know:

  • Bradshaw, reportedly, has failed to appear in court over a speeding ticket. (This by all indication is true but not related)
  • Ohio State University cited Federal Laws as a reason for not giving details (if it's a local crime, why do federal laws apply)? <- This isn't a leading question, but a humble one. What federal law would prevent Ohio State from discussing a domestic charge?
  • One rando on Twitter suggested an issue with a DUI and potential fatality (this apparently was fake news)
  • Trilly Donovan did in fact report that Bradshaw could be caught up in a gambling investigation centered around Philly area players
  • To date, there is not a single source that has rebuked connections with gambling
  • Ohio State is yet to release a statement about Bradshaw and a domestic incident. This suggests they are leaking info to the media to avoid conversations of gambling spreading

So, if you agree with the above facts, how are you concluding that this does not involve gambling?

The federal law is FERPA. It is intended to protect a student’s privacy and prohibits schools from publicly disclosing certain information about a student.

^Reasonable explanation....

If that is the case, Ohio State's worded explanation was very poor IMO

“Aaron Bradshaw is not currently participating in team activities. The university is following its established process. Due to federal privacy laws, we cannot share further information at this time.”

Also, per research:

FERPA does allow universities to disclose information about disciplinary actions taken against a student if the conduct posed a significant risk to the safety or well-being of the student, other students, or members of the community. This means that if a player's suspension is due to such conduct, the university may disclose the reason for the suspension without violating FERPA1.

However, if the suspension is for reasons not covered under this exception, the university would generally need the student's consent to disclose specific details about the suspension.

if Ohio State is using FERPA as the rationale for withholding information, then Ohio State’s statement is pretty much what you would expect a school to say.

Any time a school says “federal privacy laws,” they’re referring to FERPA.

Just as well could be using FERPA as a cover for not throwing their player under the bus, but I assume that's accurate.

The gambling while may not have been rebuked, it also hasn't even been reported that is a possibility. So it is a rumor you chose to state almost as fact. The domestic thing has been released, NOT ONE thing mentioning gambling has, other than internet RUMOR or chatter. Until there is actual proof of gambling, no need to carry on and state it as it is by siting rumors from Trilly or anyone else. IF he is so connected why hasn't he come up with actual proof of it ? Because he doesn't have any, but the domestic thing has been stated.

Im going in circles with ya buddy. I really don't care what your conclusion is.

To me, I am skeptical. Again, it might be wrong, but I've laid out why I am skeptical. Skepticism does not mean "You're right, Im wrong." It means, Im skeptical. I don't necessarily know why you are arguing with that, but you seem passionate about proving to me that i am not skeptical.

Using your logic Ohio State could also be covering up for Bradshaw murdering a family of Bigfoots with a reverse-engineered weapon developed from technology found on a crashed UFO...There is as much evidence for that scenario as point shaving. But hang on to your dreams.

That would be your logic...and it would actually be the absence of it.

You are not going in circles with me BUDDY, you are simply choosing to believe a rumor from Trilly is a possibility without any actual proof. I chose to go ONLY by the facts released to the public, until something is released about gambling I am not going to speculate on it and damn sure will not keep stating it because Trilly says so. Good day Buddy, no need to keep discussing something that hasn't been stated as fact. I could say he shot someone, but I wont because it is careless and silly to put that out there without proof. Speculation and rumors are very dangerous to someone's character, facts are the only thing I will base my post on.

This is a naive take that is lacking critical thought though. Just because Ohio State leaked information willfully, doesn't mean that this is the only piece of the story. Ohio State has invested interest in steering this one way or the other. They could be a straight player here. It's not impossible, but I don't think we just disregard all other info as a default.

Another key piece of the story you're missing, is that when a guy like Trill Donovan mentions a gambling sting, even if it were not to directly involve Bradshaw, that's a pretty big deal. Like, that's a huge story.

You're looking at this in a pretty one dimensional way though in my opinion. That's fine, but I also think you're being a little obtuse here to be honest. You are turning this into personal attacks, and I can play that game, but also, Im just saying what I think and how I perceive the info in front of me. I honestly couldn't care less if Bradshaw is or is not involved with shady gambling deals

Until facts come out proving such, I chose not to spread rumors he was gambling. He may well have been, maybe lost a bet and beat his GF up. But I will not help spread a rumor that has no facts backing it other than someone "connected" says so. Once again, if he is SO connected, why hasn't he put out the proof of it? You would think someone that connected would have the sources to prove it. Until he does, it is simply a rumor, I chose not to discuss them. Different strokes I guess, and no it is not personal with me. Just debating whether rumors should be spread.

Okay, that's cool.

Meanwhile, that doesn't answer as to why Trilly Donovan reported that. Like it or not, he's been on point more often than not. So, there are still unanswered questions.

So, like, yeah...this really isn't a debate.

Well CBS has a story on the front page of the sports section mentioning the domestic abuse investigation that happened at his off campus apartment, but no story on gambling ? HMM, guess they do not subscribe to spreading rumors. I mean gambling would get them a lot more clicks than domestic abuse, why not ? Does Trilly not work at CBS ???? HMMM.

And the debate is whether or not someone choses to buy in or spread rumors when there is no proof. THAT is my debate, so YES it is a debate. You either chose to do it or do not. I wait for facts. You can do whatever.

So your best piece of evidence doesn’t exclude gambling?

Good talk
