Hey Jimmy Dykes, without UK, the SEC Tournament is a GHOST TOWN!!!!

It would be pretty stupid for UK fans to buy a full ticket book expecting the Cats to still be playing on the weekend. And then pout and go home when they lost in the first or second round as expected. They should stay and enjoy this historic semifinal. They made the trip, sent the money, might as well. Today is final four caliber competition.

But the place is just as full.

Unless you go every year, you really don't understand how little impact uk fans now make in Nashville. Bars and hotels are still packed regardless of sec tournament or not, let alone who's playing. Other teams, especially UT, bring a great crowd. Bama, Auburn, and Arkansas bring good crowds too.

Bbn is unmatched in zeal but financially we no longer make or break the tournament nor Nashville.
We have a great fanbase but to say other schools don't care about basketball in the SEC is one crazy statement. Ask FL, TN, BAMA, Auburn fans if they care. Heck ask TX or aTm fans. They may not travel as well as us but they certainly care.

Didn't the refs go to the monitor to look at the Oweh call? There were some bad calls and there have been since I've been watching it. in in the very early 1960's. The Oweh situation looked like two players that collided in mid air-one trying to protect the ball, the other one trying to block the short. I've been rooting for the Cats over years. I used to pretend I was Louis Dampier when we had pick up basketball games in elementary school! I just don't see this as a nefarious, conspiratorial example of the SEC trying to put down the Kentucky Program.
Yeah Amari got away with a bunch of stuff just crashing into the defender

We are the best fan base anywhere … but there is no impact outside Ky .. I’m in Mexico with a ton of Canadians and Americans alike .. we are not a dot on the map . Even basketball fans don’t know a thing about Pope .. Cal .. final fours , all time wins .. nothing

What do want the SEC to do? Give us an automatic bid to the SEC championship every year? Make Auburn give us their #1 seed in the tournament?
Tonight specifically? Spot us 20 points against Bama? Even if they did that tonight, we still lose.
We didn't lose the game tonight because of refs having it out for us, we lost because Alabama was the better team. We just need to get better and when we do we know we will have the fans to support us. Through thick and thin.
We want the games called fairly and CONSISTENTLY! That’s what we want. It’s unbelievable. There’s exactly zero consistency with SEC officiating.

Dykes sounds like an idiot. You can get the hand on the shooter, that's a good block🤡

I'm no rules expert, but I always heard "the hand is part of the ball".

"In college basketball, a player's hand is considered part of the ball when it's in contact with the ball, meaning a defender can legally make contact with that part of the hand without committing a foul."

OP didn’t pay attention in geography class. A large reason you have a lot of UK (and Tennessee) support to the tournament in Nashville is proximity. Put that tournament in Orlando or Jacksonville and you will see a lot more UF fans make the trip. Put it in Dallas and it will be full of Longhorns and Aggies. I personally don’t like the conference tournament locations for football and basketball being fixed. They should rotate.

Youd have alot of uk fans no matter where it is, but i otherwise agree. I really miss it rotating.

Enjoy, because I won't watch ONE MORE FREAKIN SECOND of it!!!!

And I hope ALL 4 teams get their BUTTS kicked in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament!!!!

I'm SICK of UK getting the short end of the stick when we GIVE SO MUCH to SEC Basketball!!!!
Been getting the short end of the stick since 1933…nothing has changed. Can you imagine the SEC going out of there way to downplay Alabama football?

It’s Greg Sankey. The huge revenue makers for football are getting red carpet treatment in other sports as well. There is a reason refs have been terrible for some teams and not others, it’s their marching orders. The SEC is garbage.

Doesn't matter where it's at. It's all UK. I've been to every venue. In fact, the further it is away the more UK fans there are.

I've always thought Atlanta is the best place to have it. Even though Nashville is much closer for us. Atlanta is more centrally located and you can stay anywhere and not have to drive. Just take the train to stadium. We have enjoyed all the venues. NO is probably the most fun? Lot of people complained about SL in '18 but we liked it. Tampa wasn't all that great in '22. But it was a fun change.

I believe it's locked into Nashville until 2030 or so? Even if Nashville is going to be the "home' I wish they would move it around every 3 or 4 years.

Knowing where you're going is nice too. They let us make our reservations for next year as we checked out yesterday morning.

UK didn't win much in Nashville this weekend but UK fans did win the jello shot challenge at JBJ's!

It could be like a Final Four Saturday.

I do think that is possible.

This. Good god, there is a segment of our fanbase that is unhinged.

The final today will have a full house of orange as the Vols try and take down Florida.

Eh, you lost me here. This tournament has been in Tampa, New Orleans, Atlanta, St. Louis, and plenty of other places. Gator fans don't show up anywhere, even in Tampa. Too early to tell about Texas and Aggie fans, though I'd be in favor of having an SEC tourney in Dallas.

UK fans have shown they will show up in huge numbers for this tournament, regardless of where it's held. Arkansas used to be the clear #2 fanbase, but now it is UT (followed closely by Auburn). UT really cares about basketball. Pearl has made Auburn care too.

I ask this sincerely- what is the gripe? Ticket allocation, seating, officials?
I genuinely do not know.

With respect - every fan and fan base says the same. And regarding sec officiating- and some officials, in particular- they are correct.
But this is t a Kentucky thing.

Imo st Louis was surprisingly great. I liked the town but didn't know about their hosting the tournament. I really enjoyed the experience.

Jmo but its folks that haven't been for a while. We used to run the town but those days are long gone.

To your point, uppers are very limited for today and selling for over $200 each. Far cry from an empty arena.
