It won’t be Alaska cold, but 38 degrees will be the coldest that I have personally watched two SEC teams play (not named UK, UT, Vandy or Mizzou) in 30 years.

I’m sure those Georgia 5 Stars have a “selector” switch for climate, so they will turn into Arctic All Americans, but the Georgia crowd better wrap up!

Players better be ready too. An arctic blast of blue is about to slap you right in your mouths.

I grew up in Augusta, Ga. 40 degrees was like an arctic winter and you probably wouldn’t get more than a few days of that in a year. It snowed maybe twice in the 15-16 yrs I lived there and was almost always gone the next day. I’m sure the Dawgs won’t love the cold. That being said, it makes no difference in this game.

But, maybe Stoops should go with the opposite of his normal philosophy and try to lengthen the game instead of shorten it. Make them be out in it longer. Then again, that may just piss them off.

Yeah, GA won't have heaters on the sidelines. Or even parkas for their guys. If UK plays like they did against Vandy, it won't matter how cold it is. If we have the same o-line, and occasionally as against Vandy, it's not gonna matter. If Georgia had a bus crash and looses their entire offense, it isn't going to matter. If Georgia only kicks field goals... you know.

This ole dog is gonna get cold up in the stands. Got long johns, hand warmers, etc. Any enclosed sections that my wife and I can get into? Getting too old for this!!!

In all seriousness, the "it's cold in November" narrative being some sort of advantage is played. Some people act like Georgia (and Florida) to a degree are coming to play above the Arctic Circle. And that ignores the fact that a lot of our players come from those states. The only time I can really think of that the cold weather played a role was the win over Florida in 1986 and it was about 15 degrees, gray and spitting snow. You could tell they didn't want to be there.
It rarely gets that cold in November anymore.

Athens is northeast Georgia is what I meant, it won’t be a shock to them with 40* weather. Hell they were shoveling snow at Fayetteville 🍺

Well it's not what most Georgians call northeast Georgia., but it is in that section and 40 degrees isn't a shock.

Yes, all elevator areas are at least semi-warm on each corner and in the middle of the South Side. They have TV monitors, and on miserable days/nights, they have allowed people to kind of pop in for warm ups without regard to team allegiance, etc.

Now, if 20,000 show up for a standing area for maybe 300 . . . .

To be fair we will only kick field goals as well.

Coming from someone that played college ball before transferring to UGA, none of the players like playing in the cold! They may act like they like it, but they don’t. Guys just man up and get their jobs done and get out. That being said, our game at State last week was in the high 30s during game time, so I suppose they’ll have recent memory to draw on. Anyone that says temps in the 30s and 40s is “football weather” never actually played football. Football weather is 60-75 degrees. Lol

Judging from last Saturday, not so sure we can handle the cold ourselves.

Reckon any Cat fans who are going to the game that sit in these warmer areas might be selling their tickets? I bought my tickets and made my plans before the season started as I was convinced that the SEC East would be decided at this game. At 35 degrees our four people might be watching on TVs at the Elwood Hotel. I looked on the ticket site but it doesn’t seem that Cat fans use it to sell tickets. Any suggestions. Not trying to take over someone’s territory but just to survive the weekend.

Having lived in Athens twice, temps in the 30s and 40s are not that unusual in the late fall. Both Athens and Lexington are in the same “humid subtropical climate zone”

Zero impact on the Bulldogs.

We seem to think there is some type of late fall advantage to Lexington’s climate as though:
(1) we have the same weather as B1G schools that are in close proximity to the Great Lakes and
(2) our SEC competition is acclimated to the Panamanian jungle.

I’ve lived in Athens, Jacksonville, Charleston, Memphis in addition to growing up in Lexington. Fall temps are only moderately different. However, wintertime (Jan- early March) is a more stark difference. But…..we don’t play Conference FB in Jan-Feb.

GBB!

I lived in North Georgia for over 20 years and I have seen it get pretty cold. Ice storms are not uncommon. It was pretty cold for a Florida boy. Athens is a little further South of where I lived but not that much.

But I doubt those men from South Georgia on the Dawg squad will enjoy 38 degrees. :) I agree with Navy Cat it will have zero impact on the game. They may run faster trying to stay warm.

They get some cold there. My daughter plays lacrosse at a school in Georgia and she sent a pic Monday of her roomate’s car all iced over and a screencap of her phone showing 29 when they went for early morning practice.

Are you sure? I would expect uga to have the heat blowers next to the benches.

Mmmm. Depends on relative experience. I enjoyed playing down into the mid-forties to the fifties.

I always considered that football
weather, but that’s upper South temps in October/November, especially at night.

In Michigan, and the northern tier, you can get in the 50’s for night games in September.

The greatest football announcer of all times was renowned for saying “Oh Nellie!”

His second favorite phrase was “frost on the old pumpkin!”
