Certainly not one of ZT's better games, but really all we've got.Completely agree with this, it appears to me it is coaching to prevent a sweep, instead of winning game one and trying to win/sweep the series.

Bingo!!! Was/is a stupud move.
On another note...how the hell did Jake Mangum get drafted in the 32nd round and return to Miss. State for his senior year!?
That’s a weird deal. I think I read that he pretty much told scouts he was coming back for his senior season.
Just crazy to get that caliber of a player back for year 4.[/QUOTE
Loyalty/ love of the college experience...to break the record.
Nice game Cats, good luck the rest of the year!
Will be very surprised if you guys don't have a very very good NCAA tournamentNice game Cats, good luck the rest of the year!
This game goes 9 we lose. It's that 7 inning magic. Lol
I can't even imagine !What on earth are we going to do without ZT next year?
SC & Bama top 12 get in SEC tournament...got a rough row to hoe. @ SC then Vandy comes to town. This not counting tough midweek games with Mich & IU.Got to stay above USC... need two or 3 next week. Vandy will likely sweep us.
SC & Bama top 12 get in SEC tournament
Maybe so, I definitely would have liked our chances but you never know. This game goes 9 we lose.

Fletcher is a very good bunter, and with one of the fastest players in the SEC on third, I was certain that he was going to take the first pitch, and drop down à bunt on the next one to tie the game, but obviously that didn't happen.
We're still in good shape to win the west and get a Top 8 seed, and you still have a chance to finish in the Top 12 and get into the SEC Tournament, but we really need to take care of LSU next weekend in Fayetteville where we should draw close to 35,000 for that series.
If we were as good as they are we would be drawing 5/6k a game if the weather was nice. That is insane. We might not get that all year...
We do not have ONE single pitcher on the roster that we can look at and have confidence/faith to be a quality starter/ ace next year and only 1 or two good hitters...and let's not talk about defense!Guys, Ming has about lost me. His decisions are just mind boggling at times. I will never get saving your one good pitcher for game 3.
The outlook for next year is BLEAK.
Like I said in another post ...cut bait and go get Williams. Very nice pay increase, state if the art facility and a change to coach in the best bb league in the country with fans that are starving for a really good baseball team. Hell, if you can recruit to u6 you surely should be able to recruit to Lexington! So, at this point we believe that Belanger is basically chopped. So, the question is... who could replace him? Personally, I am pretty poor at knowing this, but I am looking for some connections. For instance, Gulliams and Mingione knew one another from when Mingione played at Embry-Riddle.
I don't think that Mingione is going to have a lot of pitching coach connections, at least not obvious ones. During his time here, Henderson was the pitching coach and then at Miss. State Butch Thompson was the pitching coach. So, those two are likely out, haha. Wes Johnson took over the role in Mingione's last year, but I think he's probably pretty happy in the Minnesota Twins organization. None of their other assistants jumped out at me as being possible pitching guys. David Haverstick was pitching coach the year he was at Western Carolina, but I think he disappeared. Can't find anything about him on google about where he is.
So, I don't really see any obvious connections to anyone who might work for us. He'd have to go with someone he met in a different way, or just someone with a good rep. I guess it is also possible that he could bring back someone who has been an assistant with him while at UK, but our rosters on the website don't go back to 2007, so I can't see who the other assistants were back then.
Also, I am looking at these rosters and connections and it really bothers me that we didn't hire Roger Williams or Chris Lemonis. They won assistant coaches of the year a couple years ago. Williams still tearing it up at UL and Lemonis now at Miss. State doing pretty well, before basically making Indiana a thing.

Obviously, having a great team that is winning helps with attendance, but Arkansas plays in one of the nicest, most energeric stadiums in the country, and the fans really support the program. If we were as good as they are we would be drawing 5/6k a game if the weather was nice.

Oh he will be back for the 2020 season, no doubt. IF he can find a decent pitching coach, and several of our players can hook up with good summer league teams and improve, we could be fairly decent next season. As much as this should happen, Minge is not going anywhere. They will ride 2017 until the sun sets and blame this year on youth. And next year, and probably the next year.
Make him say no$$$$$$$$$$$...Everything is in place for someone and I don't want to hear the weather excuse when around us @ IU, U6, and Vandy they have the very same issues and are sailing along. It's TIME...stop pussy footing around and Just DO IT!!I am amazed that he is still at UL. I don't know how in the heck someone hasn't offered him big time money to be a head coach. Maybe he isn't interested, but I would still want to try. UL has a great program and is consistently in the top 10 in the country in ERA while playing in a pretty competitive league. He's done this for over a decade... that isn't an accident.
We have a beautiful stadium that, although not as big, is as good or better than any in the country, a fan base that will show up because fans in this part of the country love them some baseball...Build it and they will come. Strike while the iron is hot!Obviously, having a great team that is winning helps with attendance, but Arkansas plays in one of the nicest, most energeric stadiums in the country, and the fans really support the program.
Combine that with us having a chance to almost nail down the SEC West and secure a Top 8 National Seed against LSU, who has repeatadly been whipping out the Voodoo on us, and generally a being a thorn on our side for several years, and Baum Walker Stadium is going to be ridiculous this weekend.
Haven't we heard that before somewhere? As much as this should happen, Minge is not going anywhere. They will ride 2017 until the sun sets and blame this year on youth. And next year, and probably the next year.
I obviously haven't been to your new stadium, but it looked nice on TV. I personally despise artificial turf baseball fields, is the weather not good enough for grass, or was it a monetary decision? We have a beautiful stadium that, although not as big, is as good or better than any in the country, a fan base that will show up because fans in this part of the country love them some baseball...Build it and they will come.
