- We have not played good defense for the vast majority of this game.

- On the rare occasions we have, they just drill it anyway with a hand in their face.

Same story two games in a row.

I’d love to see the mid range percentage from ole miss tonight. Insane.

As bad as it has been tonight, and it’s been bad, kinda happy it wasn’t a 30 plus blowout. I have to have something to hold on to.

You see the damn potential but our defense just can’t sustain.

A big part of our issue is defensive quickness we are constanstly trying to shift to not get beat giving space or getting beat anyway. Athleticism if you will.

Then theres the last 3 shots which are just maddening. Garrison had a foot on that guy and too slow to block him.

How much worse is this team defensively than last year’s team?
I’ve thought about pointing this out for a while, but coming into tonight our kenpom adjOE was 124.8 (3rd) and adjDE was 102.2 (89th).

Last year we were 122.2 (7th) and 102.9 (109th).

It’s basically the same team. Slightly better on both ends (might not be true after tonight). If you look up the teams from the last 20 years with the most similar resumes, one of the top 5 is 2024 Kentucky.

Silver lining is that team had two lotto picks and an All-American guard and this team has… not that.

I mean, wtf. It's like being forced to play our 3rd string QB - the most important piece on the team - whose natural position is WR.

But we don't have Matt Roark (although we did beat UT in both).

We've seen what we can do at full strength. Pray we get our QB1 and QB2 back.

Outside of that, I'm not sweating it.

I mean, forced to build a roster from absolute scratch in 6 weeks: amazingly, Check.

Then you lose PG2 yet still scratch out some tough wins, make it all the way to #4.

Then you lose PG1 - your most important / impactful player on both ends. The one guy that Pope said he HAD to get last summer.

Still beat a top-10 team on the road, but can't sustain that over multiple games.

Wtf ya gonna do?

It’s amazing just how bad our defense in when you see it person. Other than that I guess it was a decent night in Oxford

disagree.....this team is slightly better offensively and defensively against a substantially harder schedule. SEC has never been this deep.

The ridiculous number of Highest Quality Wins, combined with the circumstances under which this roster had to be assembled, divided by the crucial injuries we’ve had = ZERO red ass from me.*

*and you old-timers can appreciate the weight of that.
