- What I think many are missing about the significance of Pitino showing up this weekend.

-I was pissed he was coming and I knew he would be there for madness when they said he was coming for the football game. That was used just to check the temperature of the fanbase.

-However once the events transpired and I saw how much it meant to both men I changed how I felt about it.

-Pope wanted him back that was clear and he made it happen.

-Pope knew that in order for him to enjoy his time here and be the best he could be he had to make sure the reason why he is here in the first place is in good standing with the fans.

-The forward thinking of Pope and his absolute love for Pitino was on display. It meant just as much if not more to Pope to see Rick embraced by the BBN once again.

-Pitino didn't steal the spotlight or the show from Pope. Pope made it the spotlight for the healing and his era to begin without it looming over the program.

-Pope made it clear again that he is so comfortable in his skin that even when the night was suppose to be his first madness as head coach he still made it about what's good for the program and not what's suppose to be his time to shine.

The fact that UL got a chapped ass over Pitino coming here, is ALL the reason you need.

Also, re: Stoops, Sumrall etc. The biggest obstacle we face is currently the AD. Mitch doesn't have that kind of "power move" in him.

It takes big ones to fire the "winningest football coach in UK history", and then go grab one of the hottest young coaches in the country.

It’s been somewhat obvious to me (in hindsight, of course) that the consistent fire and inspiring play from the football Cats hasn’t been the same since the tragic fate of Schlarman and the departure of Sumrall.

The last time I was at Epcot was around 2015. My wife and I got talked into going to Disney with my Dad and stepmom. They said we wouldn't have to pay anything, that they would cover it.

What I didn't know was that they had wrangled us into one of those f***ing timeshare "free" vacation deals. If that wasn't bad enough, I developed an abcessed molar on the way down. The pain was so bad by the third day, that all I could do was meditate into it. My dentist called in an antibiotic but refused to call in a painkiller. So it was ibuprofen, and weed for a week. So I probably don't have the best memories of Epcot in light of that.

My wife had two Vicodin that she gave me before we went to the Magic Kingdom. I took both, smoked half a blunt (my Dad and Stepmom were freaked out about that; me getting high in the parking lot. Too bad, the pain was exquisite) I also had an 8 ounce flask of Wild Turkey with me too. They didn't know about that.

I was worried about metal detectors, so I slipped the flask into a pocket on the scooter/rascal that my stepmom was using as we approached the entrance (she had no idea) and then retrieved it once we were in. Anyway, I got to ride Pirates of the Carribean, high, and hopped on Vicodin. It added a lot to the experience.

(I have an actual gold tooth/crown now, where that tooth used to be. My dentist was way old school, and retired shortly after that. The guy that took over his practice laughed his ass off when he saw it. He couldn't believe that anyone was still putting in actual gold teeth anymore. I gave my wife strict instructions, that if I'm on my death bed/hospice/whatever, that as soon as she's POSITIVE I'm dead, to get a pair of pliers, which she should have in her purse, and yank that f***ing thing out of my head, before they take the body)

I’ll give you 90% spot for it right now. Save her the trouble.

Well, I'm actually USING it now. If you're saying that you will give me 90 percent spot, right now, and you get the tooth when I die, I'd say, let's draw up a document. I'm 61, and it's no secret that I have lived a lifestyle that could be described as "reckless abandon, with no regard to the longterm consequences" so the odds are favorable that you won't have to wait that long. Honestly, I should get full spot price, because gold isn't going to go down, longterm, and you'll be locking it in at the current price, but I won't quibble.

4 grams of 18K gold at 90 percent spot is worth 220 dollars.

I'll pay you 200% of spot right now if I get to punch you in the mouth to get it out.

Well, I can only promise you THIS: I would give you the CHANCE to punch me in the mouth. But, in spite of my age, that might be harder to do than you think. LOL

Or, it might NOT... It's the lower right second molar, so you're going to need a pretty solid left hook. 😆

*I was at Epcot on Jan 2nd, 2022. One day after UK beat Iowa in the Citrus Bowl.

Our flight home from Orlando got canceled so a buddy and me decided to head to Epcot and ended up getting obliterated.

The only ride I got on was the boat.

*Clown, I'm a lefty, but would never attempt to do that.

When we toured Italy a few years back, I took a pre-emptive Vicodin every morning prior to our miles of mountain-goat-like walking routine. Worked like a charm. Espresso and a DrHouse chaser breakfast.

Good thing I didn’t get hooked.

Watched Duke's Blue/White game and I think it'll be fascinating to see how we match up with them.

I'm guessing he starts out with Carr on Flagg; partly to keep Williams and Otega out of foul trouble. Also, I think Carr is a smart/good enough defender to put on Flagg and would do fine.

He could rotate defenders on him if he gets going like Oweh, Robinson and Williams (he could give Amari some problems with his drives and in transition though). He doesn't do much in the post but scores most of his points on drives and 3s it seems. No need to double him, they do have some good wing shooters in James/Evans/Kneuppel/Gillis/Harris that you don't want to give open looks too. Their PGs shoot well too.

Butler cuts off the head of the snake with his defense on Proctor and you'll have Oweh and Robinson to start out on James/Evans/Kneuppel. Williams/Garrison can guard Maluach/Brown. I think we start Robinson/Oweh that game to match up with their long lanky wings.

Don't forget that zone defense is not forbidden with our new coach.

I thought Garrison looked pretty good at D in what I've seems far too.

True, but they have so many good shooters and passers that zone for extended periods might be a bad idea. He might use it for spot minutes or coming out of a timeout to take away what they've drawn up a couple of times though.

Garrison could be used on Flagg some but would have similar issues as Amari on him with his handling his drives and covering his spot up 3s.

Otega matches up with him the best but that might only be possible when Carr is at the 4. Otherwise, you'd have a big like Carr/Almonor/Garrison/Williams guarding one of their wings which would be a tough cover for all 4 of them.

Underrated Bowl win : Virginia Tech. Bowden was in cheat mode. Busted a dude ride dead in his jaw. "ain't nobody snatching my chain". LB is a real one. Almost a little too real and got his ass seated for the game. We got lucky there.

With this team, not ready to concede we win at Florida or win at home v/s Louisville and Auburn. We SHOULD, but not going to lock it in. I stand by my 5-7 record. HOPING for 6-6.

BIG TIME CUSA game tomorrow night. Tops @ Sammy H-Town should be prime time viewing on the Deuce. Local South Warren kid (Caden Veltkamp) has stepped into the line of next great WKU gunslinger. Kid is only a sophomore and started 4 games. He is a good one. Finley gets hurt and now will lose his spot. How many times has this happened ? Bledsoe / Brady is the biggest.

St Johns SHOULD be telling ole Ricky 3 Stacks "MFer, you need to be spending time with YOUR team." If shit goes sideways at St. Johns this year, Ricky might be gone.

I get the fan push for Sumrall if Stoops leaves but at this point I’d rather have Jamey Chadwell.

When golf just isn't a challenge anymore, I present the 50CC driver by Mazel. 😆 (isn't that the company that makes those green, half plastic square chippers?)

UNC plays Memphis tonight. Memphis lost 10 players from last year's team including 1 of Penny's sons who transferred.

To add to their non-stop drama, they fired Rick Stansbury and 3 other staff members right before the season started. And, oh by the way, Stansbury's son is a walk on at Memphis who by all accounts is still on the team.

He hasn't won a conference tournament or regular season title in that crappy American conference yet and has been there 6 years.
Somehow they are favored to win it this year, but if they don't, it'll be more than likely back to AAU land for Penny

I remember when Joel Justice bringing in can’t miss prospect James Wiseman was going to restore us back to greatness until Penny stole him. Think he played 3 games in college and not sure if he’s even in the NBA anymore. Seems HS talent evaluation after COVID is a complete shitshow and I’m thrilled we don’t have to rely as heavily on it with Pope.

I'm somewhat surprised it looks like Pope is going to have at least a 4 man freshman class this year.

That locks up more than half our roster over two years to guys who have not yet demonstrated their ability to play in college. We can't exactly cut Travis Perry, Noah Trent, Jasper Johnson, or Malachi Moreno and keep in Billy Joe Wildcat's good graces, either, so those scholarships are locked in.

We presumably won't know how many transfers he plans to take until after the year but I am curious to know if he's stated anywhere his exact strategy regarding high school guys vs. transfers because I don't think I've seen it with any specifics.
