GYERO

. But the screw top Miller Lite just hits diff for this guy.

As in the aluminum 16oz screw cans that are standard at events? Surely I'm not the only one who thinks those have a weird metallic taste? I *hate* that vessel for beer, even my personal fav Miller Lite.

Bottle/Standard Can >>>>>>>

If I’ve got a cold screw top Miller Lite bottle/can hybrid in my hand, chances are I’m having a good time, so it does indeed *hit* different and I’m not gonna complain about things like “taste” while I’m on the express train to FunTown, population: MaxP.

-Even when I could jump on the domesto train for a full day of event drinking, I would avoid those awful metal bottles with any other option. They're nasty af. Draft > bottle > can > reverse butt bonged from a dogs ass > metal bottle.

-Speaking of... going to experiment with some new summer (daylight) cocktails. Trusting the boys recs and giving them a go, as early as this Saturday.

-Decided on the Recteq after a month of research. Now I just need to pull the trigger.

-Only thing with throwing away shit I don't needy, I have a bunch of stuff that's got plenty of use left and value. Those ebay stores would be great right now. Did they all go under?

-So we're not only going force feed WBB but also Women's College Softball? FFS. I just want to see some MLB highlights.

-Sturgill returning as Johnny Blue Skies. Ugh. We just can't nice things. He'll be in Lex Sept 27th so... we'll see, I guess.

My simpleton taste buds havent noticed a difference. Of course now that will be all I taste.

Been traveling a lot the last few months for trade shows and mtgs (Saw 3rd Eye Blind in a hotel ballroom with about 100 ppl), its gotten me back on the Tanq & Tonic train as my go to when networking at night. Carried over to the deck at home lately. Forgot how much I love that ish, just gotta keep it reasonable this go around.

Wednesday randoms…

- Move to CT complete. Such a f’n pain in the ass getting everything switched over. Insurance, DL, address changes…everyday for almost a month I’m having to get something updated.

- Already enjoying the benefits of having grandma near by. Wife and I have had more nights out in 1 mo than we did the past 2 years in FL.

- Mississippi St pullover baseball jerseys are timeless. Sharp look.

- Prefer 12 oz can over anything.

- Finally was “allowed” to purchase season football tickets. Had to escalate it up to the associate AD of the ticket office. Cost themselves a couple thousand bucks in K-Fund revenue as I decided to set next to a buddy up in 230. Flights booked for usc, uga, and auburn games.

- Been watching old school 90’s videos on MTV lately. Good god, some songs still hold up hold, while others are awful.

- Better than Ezra “good” - solid
- REM “shiny happy people” - awful
- Sonique “feels so good” - I’ll allow it

- Can not wait to see how Pope coaches this team this year. Seems like w got the pieces to play any style…. Novel concept when you actually build a roster, utilizing all the scholarship spots, instead of just having 1 recruiting philosophy.

- Sunrise at 5:20am. Almost 3 year thinks she’s a good sleeper now bc as she puts it, “I’m sleeping till the sun comes up”.

- Almost 5 year old enrolled in piano (she’s not crazy enthusiastic) and karate (she’s super pumped). Can’t wait to see her in karate, she’s already running around trying to fight me all day.

- Joined the Y for $105/mo. Dirt cheap for a family pass. Also comes with free babysitting for the kids while the wife and I work out.

- Debating retirement. In one way, I kinda like my job but it is a grind. $$ is good and prob will never get another gig like I got. On the other hand, why do I need the aggregation anymore?

- Rogue, come back buddy.

Filling and a crown this morning. Loaded up with ibuprofen and local anesthetics, closed my eyes and just pretended to be getting a tooth massage. Bobby Knight's advice, while problematic when taken literally and applied to rape, was sound when applied to dental work.

I've decided I prefer bourbon between 110 and 128 proof and while they may taste different, I like em all about the same. Generally speaking.

First sip of an afternoon IPA > all other sips of beer > last sip from a metal bottle or tall boy.

Of course Luke Weaver's killing it for the Yankees. Good article in the Athletic this morning.

Work conference in New Orleans later this month. I'll have approximately 3 hours to myself on a Sunday afternoon. Taking recs if anyone's offering. Food, drink, sights, whatever.

Make sure you tour the Afropick.

Welp, the first thing I would do, would take less than 5 minutes, so...
Outside of any PTI recommendations, went to Parasols on a Sunday, hole in the wall, great Po' Boy, High life in the bottle and a shot of Jameson for $6. ...Other than that, people watch.

* Team BBdK. Those aluminum bottles are a travesty. A sham. A mockery of drinking. You could even dare say it's a TRAVESHAMOCKERY.

* Reds chatter.......

- 2 games out of a Wild Card spot. 5 under .500.
- Elly has struggle mightily for a month, but his defense has kicked up a notch, and is on the verge of becoming elite. His range is just ridiculous.
- Fernando Cruz, who was an infielder a few years ago, and whose splitter is a "gift from god," is averaging almost 2 strikeouts per inning. For those of you who don't follow the sport, there's only 3 outs in a given inning. So that's like a lot and stuff.
- Absolutely love the Blake Dunn callup. I think he's probably just a 4th outfielder, but he mashes lefties, plays good D, can fly around the bases, and he's built like a bowling ball. He'll be fun as hell to watch.
- Don't you dare let Spencer Steer heat up. Oh my.

* After a random brain worm attack, I sent the following post to my friend SAE to rub it in his face that his fraternity is oddly celebrating Pride Month. There's just one problem (let me know if you catch it)....

Oops.

* Just finishing up a great book about Allen Dulles, and holy smokes.

The guy basically went around the world overthrowing governments at the behest of mega donors, assassinated foreign leaders, destroyed his rivals, and secretly crushed everyone in his path. Got an airport named in his honor. I mean, it's not as bad as paying $$ to a porn star, but this was one bad hombre.

* Happy Global Running Day to all who celebrate.

* Tounde Yessoufo. Wow. What a name. Where's this guy from? Magoffin County or something?

* You can't really give NOLA food recs without at least whittling it down to which type of food you'd like.

Ex: po boys, cajun/creole, 5-star/white table cloth, meat, bar food, deli, brunch, etc.

And the best tourist destination by far is the WW2 museum, but that takes at least a half day.

* Safelite replace > Safelite repair. IMHO.

We just had our yearly work conference and it was in NOLA and better than expected- prices arent outrageous and mostly friendly service - the food is like most places you get what you pay for - my group wanted to hit all the "famous" places and none disappointed

The history and architecture is what I enjoyed the most

Been way ahead of domestos in tiny grenade bottles. Bro aluminum bottles are for simpletons.

Cocktailing is performance art, efficient movements. Theater. Try making a crushable Enzoni. Delicious and summery.

Yanks absolutely own the Twins. After tonight, my Yankees will improve to 106-42 since 2002. That’s unreal. It’s not like the Twins have been historically terrible. Soon we get back Cole and the Alien👽. Me likey.

Soto is gonna command $80M/yr and be worth it. Hope Hal doesn’t let Cohen swipe him from across town. Boras will be big pimpin this fall.

Speaking of cross-town. People finally pushing back on their shitty elected officials and their “congestion pricing”. Eff you, you tone-def retards. They have a zombie apocalypse going on, and put their hand out for more? No. I’ll gladly stay in Jersey for green grass and mediocre food selections.

Big deadline met today. Historic renovation project. My B Team shit the bed. Need to do a post mortem review tomorrow.

When you say he "secretly crushed everyone in his path," are you referring to this line from the Wiki article about him?

"According to his sister, Eleanor, Dulles had "at least a hundred" extramarital affairs, including some during his tenure with the CIA."

Because that's definitely one way to secretly crush everyone in your path.

That same Wiki article, and other sites I just looked at, say that the airport was named after his brother, not him.

Something tells me we won’t have to worry about this type of thing every year for quite a while, in a good way.

With the news of Billy’s kid getting the Bulls G-League job and now this I’d say the decision of Pope just keeps looking better.

Up since 4:30 this morning smoking a couple of butts and a chub of bologna. I detest bologna but the little lass loves it and the rest of the gang seem to enjoy it so toss it on. 2 things that are pretty much idiot proof, which obviously is a good thing for AW.

I don’t miss drinking very often but there are a few times I really would like a few cold ones/brown waters. Grilling/Smoking meats, after yard work are two times my mouth waters.

A few months ago I got up to a weight that I am embarrassed to admit. I’ve dropped 20lbs, with another 15 left to my goal, but damnit I’ve hit the wall and just can’t seem to get passed where I’ve been for a couple of weeks now. Guess I’ve entered the “Stall”. Maybe I should try the Texas Crutch method.

One major benefit to having Pope is were off the coaching carousel for a long long time. If Hurley does leave, UConn or someone down the line is going to be completely f***ed. Your entire team can leave and the transfer portal is closed. They'll likely have to hire an assistant to even field a team.
