Shepherd/Dillingham 2024

Dillingham is going to absolutely take over a game in the tournament.

Just give these guys a 3 seed. Prefer to avoid a 1 seed but I think our guys can make Edey look like Frankenstein on defense.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow - it will be a tough one - let’s not forget that UT has never - not once - reached a final four. They have made the elite eight exactly…once.

That is an absolutely shameful resume, given the players they have had, the resources they have, their “biggest” arena (which fills exactly once per year), and the fact they have nearly 120 years of basketball history.

In terms of postseason accomplishments, that makes the Bengals look good, if you’re looking for a sorryass benchmark.

And…….. Rick fu#king Barnes is going to be the one to undo all this pathetic misery? Lololololol. Etc. Enjoy the regular season accomplishments again, you demon bitch.

Look, I think we might kick their ass tomorrow. But regardless, tomorrow doesn’t mean much relative to the next four weeks, so whatever. This is the insipid history of this basic bitch program (courtesy of Volswire):

The University of Tennessee men’s basketball team debuted in the 1908-09 season.

The Vols have been to the Elite Eight once, in 2010. Tennessee advanced to the Sweet 16 in 1967, 1981, 2000, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2019.

Tennessee has played in the NCAA Tournament 23 times (1967, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1989, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2018, 2019 and 2021).

The Vols have appeared in the round of 32 16 times (1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2019).

The Vols also suck sweaty AIDS ass (1908-present).

My first real memories of UK are Rex in 86, UF Dwayne Schintizius era, and the game at UT in 1990 where we came back from a huge deficit and I believe they pulled off a last second missed FT for a rebound put back.

I’ve literally hated UT ever since. They have honestly been my #1 hated rival as that was my first real taste of a bitter loss.

I remember the Villanova outcome but was really too young understand. But I was 11 for that UT loss and that scolded me.

- Side note some of you mentioned Roderick Rhodes being run off, but Pitino did right by him. He mentally could t handle it here and we got a commit from Ron Mercer. I believe Pitino convinced Jeff Sheppard to RS which was the only reason he was here in 98, but convincing Roderick to RS would have been a disservice to him. Kid had a solid college career and it’s sad to think that could have been Pitino’s biggest what if player. Dude was set up to be a Mashburn level hero here.

The right up on the Allan Houston free throw game is pretty blunt (Jon Scott is a UK treasure)

“Rodrick Rhodes looked terrible in the first half, taking dumb shots, making bad passes, and Martinez didn't look much better. Neither player (nor Dent nor Riddick nor Mashburn) spent much time blocking out or trying to rebound, and Tennessee exploited this to the fullest. The Vols swiped at the ball on every encounter, and made numerous steals. UK players were faked out of their shoes on nearly every Tennessee shot - Kentucky has done this a lot this season, but they were *never* so well faked as they were in this game. The Cats trailed by as many as many as 12 points before ending the first half down by 9 (they had a mini-run in the game's final minutes)

Jacob Hurtubise
Blake Dunn

I’d love to see either of those guys get a shot at the bigs after the Marte news, but I’m afraid we’ll see one last chance for Jose Barrero.

I believe that if we make a deep run, Dillingham has a very good shot to lead the entire NCAAT in total points scored.

Roderick Rhodes looked like he was going to be an all-timer the first half of his freshman season and then something happened during SEC play that year and he just never came close to the hype the rest of his career.

That loss to UT though in 93 was so stunning because Tennessee was a bad, bad team and I think Allan Houston's senior year and it was also the final regular season game that there was lot of talk in the media for about 6 days about how UK's 92 team peaked at the right time and the '93 team just didn't have the chemistry and toughness that the Unforgettables team before had but then we played UT that Friday in the SEC tourney and it was a 61- point beatdown and we just beat the $hit out of everyone on the way to the Final Four.

Yep... never understood it. It was like a MLB rookie who came out like gangbusters but then they found a hole in his swing.

Rhodes fell in love with shooting 3's and forgot about driving, dishing (he was a great passer), and pulling up for short jumpers.

Starting Five F Off List UT Edition:

PG - Vescovi - old flopping idiot
SG - Bradshaw - try hard idiot
SF - Hopson - probably living in hopkinsville
PF - Chism - stupid headband
PF - Williams - Flopping loser

Honorable mention to that big loser foreign center they had last year.

Tony Harris and Lang Wiseman can F straight off.

No need to pile on Rod Rhodes. He would have been apart of 96 if we didn’t get Mercer, period!

Also, the 95 UNC game boils down to Riddick simply not fighting Wallace. Wallace deserved it and Riddick simply wasn’t a loss on that team. Man up!

10 point underdogs tomorrow, lol. It’s at 4pm so I won’t be drunk enough to max bet yet, but seriously WTF?!?

If you are standing on 16 tee box at Gay Brewer and look to your right i watched the 96 title game in that house. We then imediately drove downtown in some dudes car and had to leave it overnight on main street because it was a log jam and dumb decision to do that. Im sure that guy had a nice insurance claim. We then walked from downtown to Euclid and Woodland high fiving all the cars along upper and maxwell along the way. I then climbed to the top of the sign and waved a flag(<===thats the only fib to the story but im still not sure how that guy got down)

Are you in this picture? (Actually 98 here)

Those two celebrations down there are among my all-time favorite sports memories. It was insane, but no drama. People just going nuts. I still wonder how that guy who climbed the sign made it up and down. We joked at the time that people should be chanting D-E-A-D, Dead Dead Dead after he falls off there.

Yep... never understood it. It was like a MLB rookie who came out like gangbusters but then they found a hole in his swing.

At some point in that season, right before SEC season started, Pitino made a comment in which he told Roderick that he didn’t need to try to beat Issel’s scoring record in his first year. He wasn’t the same after that.

He was so dominant to start that season. Just destroyed Ga Tech and UL. Vitale went nuts in that UL game, “Mashburn is the King and Rhodes is the Prince. BayBee!!!”

Childers has a terribly annoying pitch/voice, to ME.

Nothing you can overcome as a listener unfortunately. Talent aside, how someone sounds is all individual preference. I get it.

Dave Matthews, Vince Gill, & Brian McKnight come to mind as similar/diverse examples. Nails on a chalkboard. Nothing you can really explain. #taste.

Respect his music, story, songwriting, just can’t ever worship like most bc of my ears. :/

Very interesting talking to sports (college basketball) fans lately around here. They can’t fathom UK fans being anything but over the moon about Cal. When I bring up our last 4-5 year tourney success, or lack thereof, their mouths drop, their brows furrow and their heads tilt and they’ll say, really? Apparently they think we’re at least in the S16 every year just haven’t won lately.

Makes sense though, I’d assume by the beginning of the next season, 75% of fans couldn’t remember the entire F4 much less the S16. If you asked the average fan to guess the S16 or E8 of any year ever, UK is likely one of their guesses, of course with UNC, Duke, KU, etc.

Here’s a 🚀 thc one. While browsing the most hated current UT ERA (Tony, Ron, cj, Vince, etc) I came across this.

From ‘02 - ‘05, as that group was phasing out (enter: Lofton, Dane, Chism), UT had a 3 year player, 5’7 & obviously a walk-on, named:

Pee-Wee Gash!

I feel like I may even vaguely remember this? That’s 20 years ago, yikes. But my favorite part may be that for his entire career, his fellow token mate was Fred Smithwick.

F UT to infinity, but imagine having our two token walk ons being Pee-Wee Gash & Fred Smithwick for 3-4 years?

Get real imo. That’s incredible.

-Kate +9.5 for way too much. GBB!

The only thing standing between UT and their first #1 seed is us.

I like they gotta go through us to do it. You can’t expect others to do the dirty work. If you gotta murder someone. You do it your damn self.

Vescovi
Dane Bradshaw
Tyler Smith-always had to be court ordered/forced to pay his child support. F’n bum.

And this is in Florida you say?
-Yes, not sure why that matters though, there’s only a couple states that actually pay attention to college basketball and one of them has lost their fastball and now relies on their change up (Purdue) so it’s not like this is an outlier.

-Finally got my ass kicked behind the bar for the first time in a while. Felt great actually. Let those young bucks know the ol man can move.

Will be same all day today, everyone(other keeps) is out of town and the Grand Prix is in town so it’s just me and one chick for the entire day when we usually have 3, solid little 12 hour day ahead of me likely.

-Almost glad I’m working as this game will have me way too involved, way more than I should be if I were home watching.

And too many people on here saying UT doesn’t have much to play for so the crowd won’t be as hype 🤦‍♂️, those Mfers will be so rowdy what are you talking about?

It’s a 4p tip with their biggest bball rival during one of their best seasons ever on senior night, but yeah I’m sure since they’ve clinched the SEC their fans will all just go mow grass and fold laundry instead of going to a huge game.

Maybe we will get lucky and the majority of them will be bartenders.

He choked TF out of him. Never seen it before or since. What more did you want from the guy?

We can’t talk enough about Lynn Bowden’s Belk Bowl. That has to be one of the most gangster performances in all of sports. Not that it needs a recap….

In the history of sport…

How many mfers have punched their opponent in the mouth before a contest?

How many of those mfers were wearing a big ass chain?

Exactly how many of those mfers went on to win the game with a last second score?

Lynn Bowden is a rare mfer.

Not to mention the actual game, and the plays where his body was so taxed you weren’t sure if he could physically run the next play….but the mfer sure did, and he kept running it over and over again.
