Where were the ‘reals’ projecting UGO? I don’t remember a soul in the GYeroverse lauding this kid. That would’ve taken Nostrodomus-sized onions.

Made a Basque cheescake and legit chicken parm dinner. Elite skills. Double Treadmill session tomorrow.

Coming back to Lex for April Keeneland action.

You can look back but I feel like we liked his potential.

- We’ve seen season turners before. We’ve also witnessed national championship caliber teams go through bad games or stretches. Hell, look at UConn and Kansas the past few years.

It’s like I mentioned a few weeks back- if you’re headed into February with one of the two in your pocket, I’d much prefer offense. You can’t manufacture teams that can light up the scoreboard. With defense, you can improve rapidly if you have the pieces athletically, which we largely do. We’re quick enough. We’re big enough. We’re athletic enough. It’s all effort, commitment and communication.

- We’re due a ton of karma points over the past few years- balls bouncing our way, opponents going cold, etc. It was nice to see some weird broken plays end with a UK 3ball Saturday the way it has gone against us so many times.

- Props to Reeves. He’s become an assassin. Those floaters combined with Rob’s wizardry around the rim are amazing.

- Can’t find too many teams with better wins than UNC neutral and Auburn road.

- If Cal wants to promote a road warrior tag on this team all for it. It signifies toughness. Whatever you have to do to get your team focused.

- Great week- but have to keep it going. It doesn’t get much easier.

- It’s UConn and everyone else this year- and UConn isn’t going to talent the hell out of you. They’re just well-coached, cohesive and tough.

- Amazing to think about where Cal is now and how close he was to immortality with BBN. You win two here and you’re locked in behind the Baron. He was so close. He's a stubborn SOB but he's definitely dealt with some bad luck and bad bounces in March the last 7 years. We're due.

- Mentioned before and definitely not saying anything we all don’t already know, but Wagner would be the perfect returnee. Work on his J and floater, become a better defender and work on his playmaking. It’s a shame it won’t happen. He has the IQ and tools to become a good NBA guard. I’m afraid he’ll never get there.

- Just remarkable the number of shitty hires Indiana has made through the years. If they weren’t awful people, I’d almost feel for that fanbase.

- Man, that Cormac Ryan has some serious Boston Face going on. Not Pat Bradley-level Boston Face, but up there.

- Because of fatherly duties, I will miss Bockfest this year. Always appreciated the grittiness of it, especially back before OTR was shiny. Just a bunch of Germans celebrating goats and beer.

- Grabbed some Pavilion seats for Dierks Bentley/Lee Brice this summer, and plan to get Vampire Weekend- which will be absolutely dope at ICON. Can’t even imagine a live act that good at that venue.

- Name me a better comedy duo than Larry David and Leon (JB Smoov).

Cal had a single kid hit three game winners in a row to propel him to the tittle game(where he was favored by 3.5). Also, really tough shots. I would argue that’s all the luck you get in a career. He got it in a three game stretch. Just to lose in the title game as a favorite.

At some point, a man just has to coach well too.

-I’ll watch that new curb tonight, too late to watch it last night. 2nd was MUCH better than the first.

-Nothing like a trip down Cal/UK failure lane every day lately.

-Dierks will be great Chad. Coolest famous person I’ve ever spent time with.

-Old people stuff: went to the dermatologist today biopsy sent off (nothing bad), have regular annuals there now, can’t wait for the prostate checks in 3 years, bloodwork coming up, two more cardiologist tests/visits in the next 3 months, etc fun stuff.

-Have a great week gang.

I think many thought the ceiling this season for Ugo would be that he could contribute, eat up minutes and not hurt you- and see if he continues to develop... like we used to be with young college players. But he's played into a role of impacting the game. He's still not going to be a strong 1 on 1 guy in the post, depending on the matchup- but his length obviously is disruptive and he doesnt do stupid things on either side of the ball. I did think "here we go again" when Auburn got there first basket through Broome on the block when he easily turned and scored- but they didnt really force it there like Gonzaga did.

This game was a great reminder that most opposing fans in the SEC apparently dont know simple rules of basketball -from what a foul is, to begging for every 3 seconds call, or wanting a coach T'd up the second he steps out of the coach's box... they are youth league parents disguised as college basketball fans. Its frustrating to try and have a conversation with them.

Take care of Alabama at home so I can walk around with my chest out for a bit.

Lol. This dude got scorched for his take.

I’m surprised they didn’t call a goal tend on that play, then go to the monitor for 10 minutes only to reverse the call.

That kid isn’t wrong in his general assessment of college officiating. It is awful. Something like 53 fouls called in 40 minutes, no consistency, too many times they blow the whistle because they anticipate a foul, And the amount of times they go to the monitor is embarrassing.

Hmm interesting take - so a good outside shooter hitting a 3-pointer on a kickout with a minute to play constitutes luck.

If you want to be negative, cool, but come with facts. This isn’t Tennessee where people don’t know basketball. You can’t BS here. We all watched and remember the games. You’re reaching.

Harrison shot it over defenders that had him covered pretty well 2 of the 3 times. These weren’t designed baskets. They were amazing shots. I consider those lucky breaks.

If I recall correctly, the last one consisted of his brother, in the corner, pitching it to him begging him to shoot.

In 2011, we hit a banked in runner against Princeton to advance. Knight had been held scoreless for 39 minutes prior.

In 2011, Knight again hits a pull up against OSU. They miss a game winning three.

In 2014, we hit ridiculous shots against Michigan and Wisconsin. The UL shot was a good kick out by Randle.

In 2017, we make a miracle comeback with Monk. Maye gets lucky in my opinion.

I can’t think of any other situations in the tournament under Cal that luck pops in my mind at the end of a game. Cal has been unlucky with his draws in my opinion. The 2012 vs IU, 2014 draw, 2017 UNC/UK.

Again, just my opinion.

Was Kemba going nuts for UConn just a lucky spot for Calhoun all tournament? I mean, that was like 4 games of heroics all game, forget one shot or 3.

Mateen Cleves going off for MSU for a few tourney games.

It happens, I don’t chalk it up to all luck or saying you only get X amount. It’s just randomness.

As if the officiating wasn't bad enough, Jay Bilas may have been worse. Between quietly agreeing with a ton of awful calls and then going berserk about Reeves "switching pivot feet" only to have replay show he dribbled, it was a tough night for the worlds biggest Young Thug fan.

He did, however, correctly point out that the Edwards rebounding foul was "just rebounding".

Aaron Harrison shot 35% from 3. Didn't exactly lite it up that yr.

Everyone always forgets James Youngs 3 against undefeated Wichita st with a little over a minute to go that put uk ahead for good.

Liggins hits that corner 3 against unc during that same tourney knight won it for us twice.

Yea Wisconsin broke Cal and changed our luck from that point on.

The one play where Reeves was going for a layup and the Auburn player was called for a foul where Bilas went on and on about Reeves “going in at an angle and jumping into the defender” was utterly ridiculous.

It's The Tournament. Luck is going to be involved one way or the other. The best you can hope for is to be competent enough to have more good breaks than bad. I feel like UK has broke 50/50 in regards to luck during Cal's tenure. Many times, it never should have come down to that considering the talent level. But again, that's The Tournament.

I can't imagine being as invested (literally) as Brady and getting the returns he's been getting with this program vs. what he thinks he should be getting. I'm not in a position to know what it's like to be in his shoes, but I can sorta sympathize with his frustration.

I said in the last 7 years though. I’ll allow “luck” on two of Aaron’s shots, but not Louisville.

It’s all luck now, good grief!

Anyone not enjoy the 98 run either? How lucky was that one!

What else can we pile on here, come on guys I know you can do this!

Meanwhile I’d take a 2011 or 2014 lucky ass run this March/April and bust out a Ric Flair strut with the loudest Woooooooo!!!!! I can.

-I wonder where Spotify gets its algorithms. I never requested the Eagles, as they’re the epitome of soy boy rock and are awful, I mean just horrendous. But twice in the last two days they’ve popped up. 🤮.

-Other controversial takes:
Songs Hurt (Cash) and Cover Me Up (Wallen) >>> than the originals.

Big dogs>>>Anything less than #40.

Vegas: Shows>>>Gambling, you can gamble anywhere now basically.

Riding a bike to get somewhere>>>Driving a car.

Feels like Brady is still recovering from Devin Leary this season. Cal not helping things. Cheer up wildcat buddy.

Felt Anth's kids post last week hard. Winter just exasperates things being cooped up all the time. Grandma got in this weekend and staying two weeks. Needed it. Life is just a spin sometimes with little ones.

Spring hitting down here for the next two weeks. Mid sixties and sunny 9/10 days.

Penske car to win the 500. Give me Cindric.

Might as well crack a Great American (gay) lager. President's would've wanted it that way.

-Quite a few friends in Daytona as well right now as well but didn’t feel like making the drive, probably should’ve but $250 a ticket, get out of my face with that.

Would love to see it one day.

-And yes all of Florida has been chilly and blah the last couple months besides a week here or there. Loving the sunshine and 60s today. It’s literally necessary.
