Listening to Stoops ystdy on KSR was so damn refreshing. So honest. He took on the full responsibility for the offense underperforming basically saying Scangarello wasn’t a good fit, he did what he had to do to correct it and then goes out and crushes the portal and added some really nice pieces to incoming class.

It was like talking with your buddy over a beer at Happy Hour instead of the canned bs from a detached Calipari.

Nobody wants to admit it but if we keep playing like we have, the NIT is in play. No significant OOC wins + a very good and deep SEC means we better start winning some big games or we are in trouble.

To borrow a line from cal, “we don’t have to win em all but we can’t lose em all either.”

It’s ok to be negative, Chad.

Kentucky hasn’t beaten a ranked team, lost to 3 ranked teams that aren’t even title contenders, two of those losses the opposing team was in control throughout each contest and most recently looked crappy against arguably the worst team in D1. FAMU, yes, FAMU, had us scouted like a book because Sayre’s women’s coach runs better stuff on offense than Kentucky does.

It’s a tangled mess and unfortunately UK is stuck in a really tough spot because Barnhart, who by all accounts has no relationship with Cal, bent over and gave Cal whatever he demanded in 2019 albeit that was FOUR years removed from a Final Four.

Let’s back up. How can the athletic director at the University of Kentucky not have a healthy working relationship with the head Men’s basketball coach? That’s a fireable offense.

Used to love Cal, thought he was hilarious and pretty cool. I think Anth is right that’s it’s like a broken marriage where you find everything obnoxious but the dude is such a weirdo. Who the hell talks like he does in cliches over and over again like an animatronic robot? Like is he really like that in real life just saying slogans over and over? Just f’in talk normally you weirdo.

Coach Cal was on the local news taking his team on a “field trip” to the Underground Railroad Museum…2 days after Mick Cronin embarrassed him.

That guy hates us way more than we hate him.

Are important people still able to watch practices? It’s not a secret we do jack + shit, but I would love to know exactly what we do in practice every day.

Calipari should have been a politician. Dude does nothing but hit his chosen talking points over and over and over and over. It is nauseating like listening to some jackhole politician try to connect every issue to January 6th or inflation or whatever.

Meanwhile Stoops talks to fans like a regular human being.

-I love the coaches squirming over tampering and NIL. It's amazing. And for all the ruining the sport... the same teams are competing for a title and winning the recruiting wars. We have recruiting services listing NIL values next to their star ratings. 😭 Top QBs being offered 5 million dollars. Kids currently enrolled and playing being recruited by other schools. Sounds A LOT like professional sports. For 50+ years NCAA, Athletic Departments, and Coaches have made millions off the back of these kids and now we're seeing their actual open market value. Hint: It's not a full scholarship. The NCAA is just so dumb they drug their feet and now we're stuck between the black market bullshit of the past and the big money valuations of the future.

What they should do is structure it just like a pro league, with representation(as much as I hate unions), certified agents, profit sharing and pay scales. Still require a certain amount to fund the rest of the club sports.

It'll sort itself out. Still the 2nd most entertaining sport in America with a RABID following so where there's money to be made innovation will prevail.

-Nick Saban... has made more than 100M at Bama. The University enrollment, funding, everything is up since he took over. I was reading, and Clark knows more, but it's fueling huge advances in their grants and research funding as well. Yet, they still can't pay Will Anderson or Bryce Young.

-I could be sold on Cal having mental issues. I know some really stubborn old dudes, so I tend to think it's him digging in regardless of evidence, but it's certainly something to watch.

-Heard from a few people the atmosphere at Rupp was really odd Wednesday. I'm guessing that along with the headlines are what got to Cal and prompted his attack on the fan base.

-I hate the depths of winter and darkness but I love a good winter storm. This is pretty awesome. Plus, a nice white Christmas.

-My gift wrapping skills are tight.

-61 forecasted for next weekend. Might be able to get a bike ride in on NYD.

Anyone else have the pleasure of seeing that Canned Heat guy completely meltdown on HOB last night. Dude was off the rails.

Despite my well documented issues with Italians, I still love Cal and can be easily won back. The adjustments are fairly minor and seemingly obvious. Still holding out hope he figures it out.

Went to Bob Evans yesterday and Dad, as always, ran into someone he knew. Within 30 seconds, Joe B. Hall for some reason was brought up, this guy says “well, he was better than Cal”, everyone nods and we proceed to bitch about Wheeler and Toppin.

BBN is in bad shape right now.

While true, we've also been saying this for *years* and the changes he makes are just window-dressing. Until he embraces innovation it will just be more of the same.

Kind of weird since he used to be known as one of (it not THE) biggest innovators in college basketball.

Cal's "innovation," and his hype for the DDM was always complete and total bs. It was a world class sales job. BUT, at least he was trying, and it was working.

Can't believe he used to recruit based on "come here and learn how to be a superstar pro," and now he literally goes out of his way NOT to coach guys to be great pros.

Cal's "innovation" was his use of one and done in recruiting. Not sure how anyone could with a straight face call him an innovator in basketball x's and o's.

Cal took UMass - F*cking UMass to the final four, then took the perennial power NJ Nets led by Kerry Kittles to the playoffs where they embarrassingly lost to the 1998 Chicago Bulls, then went to Memphis and made them a top 5 team that should’ve won a title and had them be the first team in college bball history to win 38 games, and then came to Kentucky where we were by far the most dominant program in what was one of the most dominant 5 year stretches in the history of our sport. How with a straight face a f*cking Vanderbilt basketball fan can say Cal wasn’t a great X’s and O’s coach or innovative is certainly something. Cal absolutely sucks right now - and the fact he was so over the top good for so long makes it all the more frustrating. He knows basketball but for some reason he’s just coaching like shit this year which is probably more infuriating than the fact that we suck so bad right now.

- Dot's Honey Mustard Homestyle Pretzels for the win.

- Re-watching "The Challenger: The Final Flight." That theme song is up there for best of all-time for me. It just fits.

- If you told me in 2012 that the Cincinnati Bengals would bring me the most joy in my sports life, I'd spit in your face.

- Not sure I can come up with a more tension-filled moment in rock than Stevie Nicks singing the lyrics, "You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you" towards Lindsey Buckingham in the live version of "Silver Springs."

She ripped his soul with that voice and stare.

- LMAO at a good looking guy that wears a UK basketball jersey getting engaged in college.

- Cold beers. Pizza rolls (Dot's pretzels, too). 3/ALL Daily Double at Gulfstream (Race 1). Screw it.

Cal has honestly coached like shit since the year after we won in 2012, if you are being honest.

The one thing you can’t take away from him is the response that NBA guys always give. Our kids are always more prepared for the NBA than most prospects! It’s why they are always drafted higher than expected.

Dude used to adjust to his lineups. Hell, his 2011 team was a pure modern team down to a 5 who could stretch the floor a bit in Harrelson. His Memphis teams were many times 4-5 interchangeable wings who could all drive their defender - drive and kick, drive and kick.

It’s maddening because he doesn’t need to abandon the core tenets of his coaching philosophy- teamwork, toughness and defense- to make this work.

Remember when Cal hated small PGs?

Well not anymore. UK guys are falling in the draft due to way we play. The NBA twitter guys have stated this multiple times. I have no idea why recruits are listening to what he is selling anymore when it comes to the NBA.

They may fall in the draft but you can’t argue that they don’t come in prepared. There have been way too many examples of Cal guys outperforming their draft slot or even high school ranking in the pros compared to other prominent schools.

This is true. But he used to get guys drafted higher than they probably should have and now it’s the opposite.

Woke up at 3 this morning to no heat and only 1 faucet that works. Got the heat fixed but still no water. Fvck this cold weather bullshit

  • Just got back from gym. Worked out alongside CC Sabathia… dude is gigantic and is absolutely shredded. Far cry from when he was a sloppy drunk pitching for the Yanks.

The adjustments are minor? What in the last 3 years including this season supports that he will adjust?

Sure, last year’s regular season was fine, but you could see him reverting back to grind out/shorten the game mode in late February.
