"Back like I forgot my keys" randoms:
*Went over a year without checking GYERO. Combination of work and family craziness just got me out of the habit. But definitely missed the group.
*Above all else, I need more GYERO in my life right now because I need a group of people who understand and share my disdain for John Calipari. The Gonzaga game absolutely broke me. I still harbored some hope until that point, but since then I've been completely out on Kentucky basketball. It's not worth my frustration and anxiety. The only game I've watched since then was the Bellarmine game, during which I wore maroon and unapologetically cheered for my alma mater. If the Knights had put on an even average shooting performance in Rupp, that game may have turned out differently...
*It's almost to the point where my hatred for what he's done to Kentucky basketball outweighs my fandom for the program. For example, I definitely don't want to lose to Louisville, but I can't help but think how hilariously embarrassing it would be for him to lose to an historically inept UL team. If it makes John look even more outdated, incompetent, or washed-up, it can't be that bad.
*Thank goodness for Mark F'ing Stoops, over there single-handedly carrying the water for an entire fanbase.
*Steve Cohen paying more in luxury tax this year than Bob Castellini is likely to pay his entire roster for the next two. I hope the Mets win the World Series, because it will show tight-asses like Castellini that spending money like drunken trust-fund babies in Vegas is actually a good business model in baseball. Certainly beats having Tommy Pham as your prize free agent signing.
*I swore off the Bengals like cigarettes in 2015, and now they're far and away the most exciting team in my sports world, with the brightest future to boot. What a world.
*Christmas with a 6 year old and a 3 year old is the greatest thing imaginable. Their level of excitement is infectious. And our 6 year old is even doing a great job of grasping the Christmas spirit. My parents got them an advent calendar with a small gift every day for them to open. One day, it was a $5 bill. She said she didn't want the money because she wanted to donate it to sick boys and girls so they could have a good Christmas. 🥲. 100% her idea. Parenting is brutal at times, but when stuff that like happens, it makes it more than worth it.
*The kids are officially "Home Alone is hilarious" years old. They've watched it 2-3 times already, and laugh hysterically every time. Daughter even asked google to play polka music.
*Christmas Vacation continues to be timeless.
*I ain't like Ol' Saint Nick...he don't come but once a year.
*Merry Christmas, GYERO
