- It must be absolutely exhausting being an Auburn football fan.
- Frost's whirlwind success at UCF masked the fact that he didn't really know how to build a program...he simply knew how to improve a team. Now that he's done at Nebraska, it's becoming clear that he didn't have the right skillset to lead a P5 program and all that it entails. Plus, he was frankly getting outcoached by the guys across the field from him week to week. Rhule, on the other hand, has built programs at two different places, has won a ton of Big 12 games, and has become known for being masterful at player development, which is essential at a place like Nebraska, where you're not gonna get a bunch of 5-stars. No such thing as a home run, but Rhule is about as good as they could have expected.
- In my "blind squirrel" moment, I got it right that Shaw was done at Stanford. Thought he'd be too proud to hang it up without trying to get it back on solid footing, but I can respect a guy who knows when the time has come. I think he'd actually be a pretty good NFL head coach.
- Obviously these early-season CBB tournaments were great viewing, but it still made me pretty wistful for the Great Alaska Shootout.
- There are some intriguing places for Neal Brown to land once he is inevitably let go from WVU. He'd do really well at UAB, Tulane, or Liberty (assuming Hugh ends up at Auburn). I always liked the guy, and think he could re-establish himself at a place like that in relatively short order.
