What's the deal w/ Christian Pulisic? This seen as a possible breakout situation for him in his first WC, or is he just another dude at this point who peaked early?

Remember watching a 60 minutes on him what seems like forever ago hyping him up as possibly the next global superstar, or certainly an American one.

Signed with a top club in England (Chelsea, which admittedly is the club I follow), had a really good run after COVID shutdowns, then began underperforming, and now isn't getting any minutes. Not to mention releasing a book and very publicly rebuking the manager at the time (which usually isn't a ticket to getting more playing time). Pulisic is good, but really needs a move away from Chelsea.

Meanwhile, other players in the US are not only playing for top clubs (Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, AC Milan, etc.), but also a lot of players on mid-tier clubs (Leeds United, Celtic, Fulham, Valencia, etc.) that are lighting it up.

USMNT are hamstrung by a shitty coach. If US Soccer figures that out, when we host in 2026, we should have as close to a legit shot of winning as we ever will.

Pulisic has had some bad luck at Chelsea, also the victim of some questionable coaching decisions that have put him on the bench. I am hopeful that he's played enough recently at Chelsea to be in decent form for the WC. This is a big opportunity for him to show that he's a superstar-level player. He looked to be at that level two years ago, but not really since.

We had the lineup we all wanted for the majority of the game last night. Fredrick and Reeves didn't deliver on the offensive end and repeatedly got burned on D. Until that buzzer beating high off the rim shot by Reeves, they were a combined 2/12 from 3.

If you are going to allow nonstop drives to the basket on D, you had better make your shots on O.

Wheeler only played 17 minutes and only had 1 TO, but pissed me off at least a dozen times. 1/4 from deep.

I absolutely love Oscar. But he needs to be smarter. His D has been atrocious in our two real games. I hope it is a case of him needing to get into game shape.

Toppin needs more balls (testicles) and less 18' jumpers and fancy hairdoos. He pisses me off the most.

Ware. God love him. Extremely limited, but at least he battles.

Collins. Deer in headlights.

UKO. Clueless now, will be a good one.

Livingston. Scared.

Wallace. Love. But for all the shit we give Wheeler about closing out games, has been horrible down the stretch in both of our tough games so far. Shaky handle needs tightening up and can't just hand the other team the ball at the end of games. But other than Oscar, my favorite player.

Coaching. F. Pitiful. Players weren't ready to go. And why is a GD zone taboo? We were in foul trouble and couldn't stop drives. Touching zone them asshole. It's not like they weren't getting wide open looks from 3 vs MtM.

It's not just on the coaches to be ready to go, though. How can you not be fired up and ready to go in an environment like that? I don't want to hear the terms "Dog" or "Swaggy Cal" again, unless we make a F4.

This team has the talent to win it all. Do they have the balls, heart, brains or will? Will Cal get his head out of his ass?

Stay tuned.

The Bitch Bus is closed due to overbooking. I assume everyone but Vern is on board.

Nice little start to my favorite week of the year. I’m not a college basketball, so I don’t need to rehash any takes. Just know that I, too, despise John calipari with every fiber of my being. Didn’t even watch the second half. Opted for white lotus. Still enjoying.

Honestly I’m a little jealous of Louisville’s basketball team. HEAR ME OUT: they are terrible, but everyone knows they’re terrible. They were always supposed to be terrible. There’s no pressure. Oh you got beat by 18 to Arkansas? Good for you! Could’ve been worse! Have a pat on the head. Must be nice !!

Proud of my boy Kyle Tucker. You guys have been flaming him for years and he constantly proves he’s that dude when it comes to UK sportswriters. Y’all owe him an apology.

This is typically the day I start my baseball bucket turkey brine, but last year I gave Proud Mary’s my business and I’ll never go back to smoking it myself. Instead of spending several hours tonight preparing anything, I’ll wake up at 7am Thursday morning, grab some Starbucks and take a beautiful drive to the banks of the Kentucky river and pick up a fresh smoked turkey.

Give me Dwayne peevy & kelvin Sampson.

Debating going to my first game since 2017 Tennessee on Saturday. Hadn’t realized itd been that long since I just typed that out. I have zero faith we win, but my 11yo has gotten really hooked on college football this season. Watches as many games as he can and constantly asks Siri “who won the _______ vs _______ game”. Kinda fun.

I really don’t like how soccer fans refer to teams in the plural - “Chelsea are favored today” as opposed to “Chelsea is favored today.”

Happily took today off months ago with dreams of a meaningful UK-Georgia game Saturday and push for #1 on Sunday with UK-Zags.

So anyway I will be watching the game today.

Kinda weird on CMD rooting against the US. 🥸

The absolute worst is hearing how Oscar is 2 weeks ahead of schedule, however, this is also why we are behind?

That’s BS when he wasn’t held out of pro day. He has years of tape on him, if he was truly “behind”, he shouldn’t of participated.

Weak excuse imo.

Admittedly don't know a lot about him but you don't see many Americans getting paid $7MM+ annually to play soccer. That's got to say something about him.

He’d still have you blocked if it wasn’t for me.

With Coach K retiring, the symbol for "The Face of College Basketball" was up for grabs for the next half of this decade. Looks like that will go to Bill Self with Mark Few right behind.

However, Chris Beard is going to be THE guy sooner rather than later. He's back at his alma-mater with plenty of resources and recruiting base and NIL possibilities. It's really set up for him to be THE MAN for several years. Sure wish the timing would have been right for him to come to Lexington to be the successor, but that ship has sailed.

1. Wheeler brings the ball up.
2. Fredrick runs off double baseline screens that his defender avoids easily because the opposing coach has over a decade of tape on the offense. Defender almost beats him to the spot, Wheeler makes a tough pass to a well defended Fredrick on the wing.
3. Fredrick post feeds Oscar who immediately gets a double from Wheeler's man and help from Toppin's man (who is opposite block).
4. Oscar kicks back out to Wheeler who reverses to Wallace on the other wing, Wallace looks to drive but his defender gets help from Wheeler's man and he picks up his dribble.
5. Wallace then feeds Toppin who has slipped to the high post, Toppin takes two dribbles, his defender gets help from Oscar and/or Wheeler's man ===> Kobe midrange pullup over a few dudes as the shot clock is coming to an end.
6. If it all breaks down default to a Wheeler/Oscar pick and roll which a defender will go under and dare Wheeler to shoot.

It's a shame Oscar hasn't been playing in the system long enough to learn this play, per Cal. Meanwhile, the Zags had guys at both corners and beyond the 3 point line as they put whomever was guarding Timme on an island again and again, daring them to help ===> if they didn't, Timme just walked himself to a bucket (sometimes literally), if they did, it was impossible for us to recover and they just stepped into a 3, attacked a closeout, or used the space to make a backdoor cut (when is the last time we scored on a cut to the basket, btw?).

Do our guys need to hit shots? Absolutely...but the pattern of good shooters coming here and getting worse or leaving and getting better is undeniable at this point. We give no space, play with no rhythm, and even the open shots seem to be taken out of panic because they aren't expected.
