I think the "Louisville" politician thing is a myth. Isn't McConnell a Louisville politician. I think Conway is a shitty campaigner. I couldn't tell you one thing he ran on, all I saw from his commercials was that Bevin was a liar. His campaign against Paul, all I can remember is the "Aqua Buddha" nonsense.
This. I don't think Republicans were excited at all about Bevin. We are a two Republican household and Bevin didn't get a single vote here. Wife voted for Conway (Kim Davis stuff did it for her with Bevin) and I voted for Drew Curtis.
Conway was an anchor on that entire ticket. The Democratic machine in this state is broken. They were convinced Conway would win tonight by more than the 5% he was polling at and Bevin won easily. They were convinced last year that Grimes could take out McConnell and he smoked her. I think she could have won the governor's race tonight paired with the the right running mate had she stayed out of that mess. Their whole system needs an overhaul.
Edelen should have won easily, Grimes should have won easily and Beshear should have coasted in on daddy's name with ease. Two of the three limped across the finish line despite much deeper pockets and far greater name recognition, while the other was sent home sucking on his cotton candy by another less known candidate. I've lived here all my life and have followed politics since middle school and I have never seen the Democrats get their ass kicked in state elections like this. Surreal.
