Welp...no school today. Teacher strike.

Matt nailed the breakdown on Hey Kentucky last night.

No guaranteed return on investment, moving future hires to a 401k, can't carry over sick days for years on end and then cash them out, specific benefits aren't contractually guaranteed in perpetuity......

.....uhhhh, welcome to the 21st century.

Sounds like how any normal Fortune 500 co. operates.

* Been listening to a lot of Colter Wall lately. This dude's voice and song writing is straight :fire::fire:.

* Nice little weekend planned....

tonight = lady friend coming over for ubereats, reds opening day & chill, and intercourse.
tomorrow = 40th running of the crescent city classic 10k, then a birthday celebration for a close friend. very special guy, and we've turned it into an awesome fundraiser on his behalf for the local homeless shelter.
sunday = camping, running around in the woods, etc.

* Left two Opening Day starters on my bench yesterday by accident. There's a reason I've finished dead last in my fantasy league 3 years in a row. Oh well.

* Turning up the heat at work, big time. Closed the biggest sale of my career for May 1, and may turn around and top it in July. [cheers] if this comes to fruition.

* Congrats to the Schems and their new listing. Some great memories, and glad they won't be moving far. I remember Sloot sending me listings of all the places they were looking at almost a decade ago. Glad you fools didn't end up on Jesselin.

[thumb2][thumb2]

* The following public employees can get royally pumped.....

- county clerk
- pva
- tax assessor
- usps
- tsa

Big time.

* My company is being eyeballed for purchase right now by......

....Wal Mart? Ugh. o_O

* Michigan over Nova would be cool, although I may not watch any of the 3 games.

Last night I was watching Game Over, Man while my wife was watching some stupid movie in the other room. She texts me, "you missed a nice lesbo scene" while I'm watching the scene in the conference room where the Bai (sp) was eating dude's b-hole. Welp, may be my shortest stint at a new job in history for me. Rather than text my wife back, I texted my new boss, a holy man at that, "i'm watching a guy eat another guy's ass. i'm good".

If I had to put how I feel into a sports analogy waiting to actually hear back from him, it's a combination of the Falcons choking in the SB, the Wisconsin game and watching Nerlens Noel rip his knee apart and everyone of them takes a steaming shit in a garbage bag and stuffed me in it to suffocate.

I'm still drenched in sweat. JFC...38 years old and my career will be highlighted by a Facebook meme.

My mom was a teacher. My stepmother was a teacher. My grandmother was a teacher.

Pretty sure they didn't work for Fortune 500 companies, nor did they want to.
I mean I get arguments on both sides but the whole “this is how Fortune 500 companies work!!” is a disingenuous argument.

Claiming what happened last night “guts” the pension system is also not accurate.

But whatevs.

...to add to that, the way it went down. Which, in itself, isn’t wholly uncommon in Frankfort but given the intense spotlight on that issue it was tone deaf to say the least.

That wouldn’t (won’t) be a fun decision to defend come campaign season.

Teachers get "shitty pay" but with amazing benefits and retirement package it evens out, if they want to get rid of the benefits they need to be payed more, it's really pretty simple. But I really don't care that much either way until my kids get old enough to start going to school.

My point is that the benefits aren’t THAT amazing.

Put it this way — if my company moved to a pension, I’d be pissed. I’d like to actual have my own money and earn a much higher rate of return. But that’s just me.

-We'll see. His approval rating is pretty high and those folks weren't voting for him anyway. I do appreciate schools being out so the traffic on the way to work was a breeze.

-I don't know enough about it to but when I hear "government employee pension" my skin tingles a bit. What a damn racket.

-This forecast is the worst. Keep clicking and hoping for a 70+ degree day to pop up. April 7th 42 and snow. Get f*cked.

-Hagans is built like B Knight. Hopefully he can shoot like him.

-Damn, Catlanta... I'm sure he's not going to fire you. That would be weak. One of the worst misfired digital messages I can recall. Text/emails need an "are you sure: Y or N" feature you can enable on a certain contacts. Imagine if the Jerry accidentally sent some of the stuff he says to bbdk and I to a client. Lolz.

*Why does Toots Palumbo love one child more than the other?

*This whole pension debate pisses me off because it would be so easy to fix if we didn't have a bunch of flaming shit-birds holding office that continue to vote against expanded gambling. It's quit sickening.

Why can't teachers be offered either/or? Either you make more money now and manage your own retirement account or take less and get a pension when you retire? Raise the service years to 30 if you opt for pension. It's 27 now, right?

The state has a ton of money that is just wasted. Looking at you Passport and Section 8.
-We have a very liberal attendance policy at work. People can get up to 4 points a month. Full point absent without a Dr. note and 1/2 if they have one.

Welp, these mofo's on Passport simply go to the Dr so they don't get fired. It's apparently free to go so why not, right? This also helps them keep their income low so their free shit isn't lessened then following month.

No clue why S8 isn't based on what a 40/week paycheck would look be so they aren't penalized for working overtime. If allowed, companies would be more productive, the welfare recipient would pay more in taxes, and local gas stations would sell more menthols and lotto tickets. Win/Win.

So for existing teachers this was essentially about accrued sick days and a $5000 life insurance policy? You can get a 250,000 policy(correct me if I'm wrong) for like $15/month.

The way it went down is indefensible.

The fact that the way it went down is the way major bills have been enacted for years in Frankfort is indefensible.

Teachers are probably in the top 10% of salaries in a lot of Kentucky counties.

average 50k. SAD!

Here's the deal...you get ONE chance with kids. ONE. You blow that chance, there is a pretty good chance that kid grows up and lives a difficult existence. Of course, the best place to put a kid on the right track is at home, but school is definitely second, along with church. And many kids don't get a choice for home, so school is pretty much it. Don't **** that up. Not sure why that is so difficult to understand.

I don't know enough about this subject to offer an educated opinion about it, but it rings a little hollow that there's just nothing else that can be done because this crisis is so unsolvable when there are cash cows like legalizing marijuana and casino gambling just sitting out there. Legalizing marijuana would also help the opioid crisis as well. You can argue that the public doesn't support it, but it doesn't appear they support this, so what's the difference? I doubt you'd see angry mobs in Frankfort over either of those things.

Not gonna harp on it every time it happens but I've seen the word r*tard in here three times in the last week. Cut that hillbilly crap out. And if we had more politicians in Frankfort who were as hard-working, determined, and compassionate as the people in this country who historically have been referred to as r*tards we'd be in a lot better shape regardless of intellectual development. (Not intending to call anyone out specifically here, it's just, like I said, the third time this week after not having seen it for like a year.)

The real news is UL dropping #L1C4

Dammit, Mack. You're on the clock to do something to make us hate you. Players first, GoCards, Cal is great, blue shirt to the intro PC, sweet south end girl for a wife. Let's go. Shot across the bow any time now.

I get your sensitivity to the word, but in the end, it's just a word. It's not being used to describe someone with an actual disability.

However, with respect to you, I'll edit my response.
I appreciate that. It's being used to describe someone stupid, with a word that has that connotation because of a historic (recent historic) connection to people with an actual disability. It's making an unintentional but direct comparison. Trust me, I've given it a shit-ton of thought. I won't push any harder than that, and I appreciate the fact that you'll do it even though you don't personally see the purpose. Thanks.

Next thing you know a visiting recruit and his dad won't even be able to get a nut in the dorms, SMDH.

Which makes a rushed bill that is going to go viral immediately all the more stupid...they really fixed nothing and got themselves a shit ton of bad publicity in the process.

As Bernie mentioned, this hard line stance of not raising revenue and pretending like gambling is a morality play is just ridiculous and will have consequences down the line.

I applaud the guile of taking on an issue that had been punted for years and trying to fix it. But, man, they screwed it up.

I'm thinking they can continue to sell their sick days at retirement at 30 cents on the dollar, they just can't take that amount and then add it to their salary for retirement calculations. Everyone is so worried about the other side's actual motives that no one is willing to negotiate in good faith on anything.

As SmugMax said, it happens this way (the secret deals) every time... it's just that more people were watching it in this case.

Marijuana, gambling, profit.

Get your puritanical interpretations of the bible out of your asses and make it happen.

Many problems solved. Not many created.

Enjoy.
Sorry, Chase. You apparently missed the chapter in the good book where Jesus and his disciples were betting on the chariot races. Had to go the OTB because they didn't allow their kind inside.

So what message are these adults sending their kids? When it comes to things changing just throw a temper tantrum to show those above you that you mean business? When they have assignments the kids don’t like should the children just walk out?

BTW, in Louisville the day before spring break is national cut day and I served 2 days in school detention for cutting that day.

-herald leader has a portal that allows you to find the salary of every fcps employee. The pay is not shitty...and the hours are a dream.

-if you refuse to go to the table and negotiate and compromise, opting for hyperbolic/histrionic rhetoric and made for tv protest...don't be surprised when shit goes south.

-obviously it would have been better to work out a transparent deal/process...we've seen how unread rushed legislation works out(aca comes to mind as a recent example). For that to happen all parties involved need to "adult". Apparently we don't do that anymore.
