I’ll take PJ, Quade, Baker, SKJ, Gabriel and, yes, Richards...

Anything else is icing on the cake, imo.

Quade and PJ will be fantastic sophomores...and Richards should make a considerable leap.

What’s philosophically interesting about this going pro discussion is that you never hear the “value of an education” line being used anymore. It seemed like that was a factor years ago, but now it’s more about whether the player has anything left to gain from a draft stock perspective.

The counter is that these guys can make their money and then go back to school, but it’s gotta be easier to knock out a degree when a) it’s fully paid for and b) you have all the resources a university can throw your way to ensure you succeed.

It’s almost like everyone realized that the value of a degree is more or less a sham, and it really is about the graduate’a capabilities as opposed to the paper that matters. The philophical part of it is, if that’s the case how in the hell can these schools keep justifying raising tuition to the general student population?

Cal offers lifetime guaranteed scholarships to avoid any concern if these kids leave and fail.

Good call on Murray Joshie.

While we're going down this road, we gonna ever address MKG or nah?

Pretty much nailed your fav UK player ever but heyyyy Jamal Murray and Garry Harris are playing out their ass because a Euro freak point-center facilitates their offense and makes everything easy AF for them

D Orton going pre-law or pre-med?

Funny you mention him. He is exactly why JVC advertises the scholarship offer because we care so much that when you leave you should become a millionaire, but just in case JVC or the player is wrong by gawd we will still pay for your out of state degree even though you did not fulfill your obligation.

It’s a great business model IMO.

Haven’t they always done that?

Honestly I do not know, but the B10 and P12 just started in 2014. I think I remember Cal talking about it after his first year here, but I couldn’t tell you if it was done before that.

There were reports of a former Arkansas coach doing it, I can’t remember his name, which would have been well before his time.

Speaking of politics......

#1 = per thefacebook, I sure do have a lot of friends that are running for office. County attorneys, city council, judges, etc. Pretty cool.

#2 = how do I get one of those t-shirts for the odds on favorite in the Marshall County Attorney election???

PM your address to me on my FaceSpace page and I'll send it your way. You can help me out big in your electoral Parish.

If you're needing help with getting the "douchebag running" vote, PTI could really deliver for you.

“In the Davidson game, that was a really good team. And then with Buffalo, to do what we did to them, we all started having these thoughts of ‘here we go.’ And I think that’s what zapped me, the team, the staff, the fans, and it’s understandable,” said Calipari.

Not understandable, fatty.

Kinda concerning?

Shorts:

- Obviously in “anyone but Kansas” mode but getting a little tired of Nova too. Do these dumbF media members know what blue blood means? It doesn’t mean a good 5-year run.

- Speaking of dumbFs, of course they’re falling all over themselves to let us know that Duke did NOT in fact underachieve this year.

- Old (2 weeks) news and not that we didn’t know, but thanks, Nike, for delivering Bagley to Duke. F you.

- We’re UK so anything less than an E8 is a shit year (and an E8 is merely decent) but GYERO is right- the next few weeks dictate just how shitty of a year we had. If it’s a true bridge year, I can get over it. If the house is cleaned, I’m not going to be a very happy homer.

- Was pretty happy with how Washington developed throughout the year and I’m very confident better days are coming for Quade.

- Hey Mack- if you want to wade through shit Andy Dufresne style for a few years, have at it, and GF.

- I will hate a dude who signs with UNC, but I will immediately lose respect for one who goes to Duke. Just a very pretentious choice. Wendell Carter, btw, can F off.

-I keep having to remind myself that I have no idea what's going on with these kids' personal and family lives. Based on basketball readiness alone, it's Shai and Knox and that's it. But seeing a picture of Lynn Bowden and his son at Pro Day the other day reminded me that whether it's a mom struggling to pay her rent or a kid of your own, some of these players will go pro not because they think they'll make the league(they won't), or because they'll get drafted at all(they won't), they'll be happy just to get SOMETHING from overseas or G-League just to help out with their domestic situation.

-Got mocked for tweeting too frequently about Duke(by a Duke fan). But like I told him, I do it because they make it so EASY. The floor slapping. The tripping. The crying on the bench while the game is still up in the air. The way their managers run out on the floor at timeouts. Whatever song that was that Grayson Allen came out to during their Madness event. Marvin Bagley skipping his senior year of high school and immediately being deemed worthy of acceptance into a prestigious Tobacco Road university less than a month before classes began. Maintaining an air of moral superiority while your lead assistant oversaw an Oklahoma program that paid Tiny Gallon to come to Norman.

And the whole time, no media members(with the slight exception of Mark Titus) is willing to ask any questions about the whole thing. The program is as close to a cult as you'll find in collegiate athletics. Say anything negative and they'll hiss back at you with such defensiveness that it's startling. They're like the CrossFit of college hoops, except that they're all vegans, too.

-Here's your annual reminder to make zero judgments about a player's potential based on the McD's AA Game, and instead pay closer attention the Nike Hoop Summit instead, which is a clearer indicator. It's a shame that game isn't carried on Westwood One.

What would you like to address?

He's making 6.2 million this year.

From Dec: http://www.nba.com/hornets/paralleling-his-persona-michael-kidd-gilchrist-quietly-having-career-year

Kidd-Gilchrist might not ever be a 20-point-per-game scorer or average double-digit rebounds, which is perfectly alright. Now fully healthy, he’s showcasing noticeable offensive improvements while also continuing to play to his strengths, particularly on defense. Whether it’s apparent or not on the surface, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is making as big an impact as any player on the Hornets roster this season.

I definitely want Kansas to win it over Nova. It's not even close. If Nova wins, that would be 3 schools to win 2 titles while Cal has been here. Kansas is harmless.

MKG was drafted ahead of Bradley Neal, Damian Millard, Andre Drummond, and draymond green. He's been fine but you usually expect more out of a top 3 pick so I would say it's fair he's been a bit underwhelming.

I couldn't care less about Nova having 2 titles since Cal has been here, talk about a completely pointless and made up statistic. Villanova will be worthless without Jay Wright, they will be UCONN without Calhoun, it's far better they win one over a program like Kansas who we'll have to talk trash with and actually will have fans 30 years from now.

All a matter of opinion but Kansas can go F themselves. F their shitty fans who will say they have 6, F Bill Self who gets sucked off by the media and F any true blue blood winning it all. I do not want Self having 1 while Cal has been at UK, i love his regular season championships and being shit in the tourney in terms of titles. Go Nova.

-Geese lost that one, b/c his main thing was that he wouldn't be a Top Pick once his game and "handles" were exposed. I'd say #2 qualifies.

-What media is calling Nova a blue blood? (None). [eyeroll] Stop lying on Jay. People gush about them b/c they play beautiful basketball & have a great group of upperclassmen, 6 of which are redshirts. Basically, the exact opposite of *our* Cats.

Extra [eyeroll] for Vern and anyone else who would root for Kansas over Villanova.

-Midseason, before he'd even really done much, I mentioned Hami should look out to Malik Newman about what can happen if he swallowed his pride, accepted he wasn't ready after a year, and got to work. Yeah.

"3 Bluebloods and a Cinderella" is the prevailing narrative. So they're calling Michigan a "blueblood" too.

1 national title, 3 other Final Fours in past 30 years (that's from memory, maybe I'm missing one) is apparently enough to qualify as "blueblood" these days.

Learn "blueblood". Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, UCLA (though as time goes by, that distinction becomes more dubious). IU used to be blueblood, but aren't anymore.

That's it, that's the list of any programs that have EVER been "bluebloods".

Do they really claim 6? I thought it was 5. 3 NCAA + 2 Helms.

-Nah, F*ck Kansas. Claiming 5 titles even though(and props to them) ESPN will only put up 3. Arrogant fans that really think they're on par with UK historically if not better. We recruit against them for a big # of recruits.

Michigan>Loyola>Nova>KU

-ATL was a alright but I think a lot of the connection with ATL is revisionist especially now that the Dome is gone. Still like to get the SECT back there.

-15 stung so bad I've seemed to develop a big of callous when we lose. Sucked it up and had a great time Friday bopping around Atl.

-Completely agree on Vanderbilt, he shouldn't leave but if he can even get a bite on a late 1st rd pick, he has to go. Another injury and he's likely toast as I assume his last injury wasn't "the other ankle." Unfortunately he'll probably have to disclose that to an NBA team.

-Really the ones I'd like to keep are Gabriel and SKJ. Losing those guys are the dick punches.

MKG is an elite talented glue guy..

Sounds dope for a #2 overall pick drafted immediately behind the most talented player of his generation. Especially when there were 4-5 all-stars behind him.

And nothing MKG does at that level is 'elite' so please stop throwing that word around. You're awful.

I loved him as a player and said as such countless times. I *also* said he would have a decent NBA career as a late 1st round type (GLUE GUY). He just didn't warrant that high of a pick based on his limitations and broke ass jumper -- not his fault someone got too excited and took him that high, obviously.

That said, y'all lost your minds about it. Whether or not he is an important cog on a shitty Charlotte team in a weak East ---> he's been extremely underwhelming based on his draft position and the expectations that come with it.

And unlike chad, I have lived most of my life in KY and actually attended college in Lexington.

Speaking of Cincy -- What's the story on Darius Bazley? Getting a lot of buzz from #McDAAG

Don't recall a single mention of him over the years, here or from any of my friends, which is kinda weird for a 5* burger boy from our 'local' area, considering how many self-proclaimed college basketballs we have in here from that area. How was Syracuse able to come down and steal him?

He was hurt by all the shots Louisville GYERO has taken at Cincy over the years. Recruits read these boards, people.
