GEL-Lex Update: The minister at the church is going to figure out when we can get back at it...doubt it will be this Sunday, but he said he would let me know. They're refinishing the floor at some point soon, so we may have to wait until that's finished before we start, or take a week off whenever they decide do that. I'll e-mail the group whenever I get a firm date.

If any of you want to play and aren't on the e-mail chain, shoot me an e-mail and I'll add you- tfields11 at gmail.com.

Is the Sapphire Reserve worth getting if you already have an Amex platinum? Seems like close to the same benefits but the sapphire gives you $100 extra in reimbursements for travel. That $1500 toward travel bonus though pays for 3 years of the card.
100k UR points and 3x's on all dining and travel. Plus the $300 travel credit. It's pretty enticing. So good Chase lost $200-300 million in earnings on the card.

- I'm going to try again even though I've already been rejected and waaaaaaaaay over the 24/5 rule. Maybe they'll overlook it? o_O

- Pilonidal cyst. Man. That blows. And disgusting. Every time we take care of one of those folks in the OR I pray it never happens to me. Porch light definitely on.

- Skirt steak recipes? On serious eats now and probably just going to follow one of their simple grilling recs.

- NYE wedding is just great at this age. Can't recommend it enough.

So when is the $450 annual fee charged? If it's immediately, I'd say I'm out. My plan would be to use it, get the points, transfer the points to Southwest, and then cancel the card.

Edit:

Looks like it's charged immediately, but I guess I could get 50K points from Chase Sapphire Preferred and have the annual fee waived the first year.

You never travel so it may not be lucrative to you. However, you get a $300 travel credit, $100 for TSAPre, Priority Lounge access and 3x points on dining and travel which is worth way more for us than $100 fee. I think the 100,000 works out to about $1500 in value. For people that eat out and travel a lot it's a no brainer.

$450/year fee.

HOWEVA:

- $300 travel credit each year.

- $100 toward TSA/global entry

-3x points on travel and dining spending

- 1.5 utiliztion of points through Chase Ultimate Rewards

- Lounge access at pretty much every airport in the world

You hold on to this one, bub.

Would you not buy a $1500+ flight/travel voucher for $450 if presented the option? Bc you essentially have been. 5/24 unfortunately eliminated me, and it wasn't even close.

-Thanks cb. I definitely recommend not getting one. Really had no clue the aftermath would be so bad...

This is gonna be awesome, watching Chase scramble to somehow spend $4000 in 3 months, peruse the Owensboro Regional airport for the Priority Lounge, and haul his duffel bag thru TSA Pre-check on his first ever commercial flight. To Panama City.

F that guy, basically.

Really enjoyed the credit game, but like bbdk said, these new 5/24 restrictions have got me stuck in the friend zone.

Just earning points at a regular clip these days, the thrill is gone.

Obviously, I'm not a creditcardball or travelball. Regarding the $300 credit. Is that really as simple as it sounds or is there some bullshit trick or fine print to it? When I get the card, the wife and I decide to spend the weekend in Nashville, use the card for the hotel ---->Boom, $300 of it auto erased?

*I couldn't give a shit less about lounge access or $100 TSA whatever.

yes

If someone thinks Diallo is stepping in and playing 10 meaningful minutes a game behind Briscoe or Monk or Fox or Hawkins or Mulder just joining the team halfway through the season straight from HS without going through any summer conditioning, practicing with the team for months, going through Camp Cal, playing any exhibition games, playing against the cupcakes in the beginning of the season then they are an idiot. Period. If you are arguing that he is going to take Brad Calipari's minutes that's fine, I guess, but that still makes no sense.

Definitely doesn't travel much, the lounge access and TSA are the best pets of that whole deal. Lounge access with my platinum has basically made it to where I won't fly to airports without a lounge if possible. Sitting for an hour plus in those regular airport chairs with the rest of society is awful.

-I already have priority pass with the Amex and I just don't think this one offers enough benefits to rationalize having 2 cards with a $400+ annual fee. Like I said though, the first 3 years are covered by the $1500 value....tough call for me.

Yeah sitting among the common folk at the airport is awful. Peasants. Let them eat cake.

Reminds me of PTI expressing his unabashed hatred of the working man.

-Let's see, in about 1 week, Facebook Live has already resulted in some horrific incidents being filmed and live-streamed to the world. Who ever would have guessed it would be misused? Dumpster fire waiting to happen.
