Cal lost his own son to the portal a few years back.
Have you seen Gundy’s son play? Not many have. Guessing he’s in over his head at OSU and wants to actually play somewhere before he has to join the real world.
I'm sure the discussion played out with his son telling him "I'm a man, I'm 20, I can do what I want!"
Yes, I saw him numerous times when he was in high school. Arm was average at best, but you could tell he was well coached.
The im 40 I'm a man rant is still probably top 3 in all time press conference lines. People slammed him for it, but you want your coach sticking up for his guys.
Of course the media slammed him, that is who the rant was directed at. I love Gundy, I loved the rant, and so did recruits, it helped a lot with recruiting.
Yep you want a coach that has your back. Through the good and the bad. You could tell he really cared and it wasn't right to bash the kid. People lose sight that these are kids. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter what happens on the field at the end of the day we're all human. Kid probably felt horrible and then the media attacking the kid I'm glad that rant happened.
