I was worried about White taking over as a first year DC in the SEC but he did great work. Even when teams made plays our guys were in the area and lined up correctly. Really liked the way he handled the defense and himself. Developed some depth. Good young coach.

White did a great job and is a super coach but I think the numbers are skewed because we played in 4 washouts this year, limiting how other teams could throw the ball. I don't think our D is as good as last year but that is a high standard and it's impressive how our D came together.

I was a little worried in the first couple of games as our DL looked slow. But they have def improved and seem to have sped up. Great job by staff and players!

Agree. House was here a few years. Had same defense as jr and Sr. We were porous when they were jr. Stout as Sr. Was it because they got one year older? Or because white whit on board?

Given the results this year, I think it's clear it's because Whites influence

While our defense was impressive (statistically the second best in 42 years) 2018’s unit was 6th nationally in scoring defense, and visited A & M instead of Arkansas at home.

He’s a great coach he really is. Not only can he call a good game but he can coach his ass off.

I also gotta say I never noticed us running the same scheme (with different personnel) every play like the current trend in College and NFL football it’s really mind blowing how teams in the NFL seem to be so simple by calling the same 3rd down Defense every series (if the down and distance is similar). That’s mostly due to current RPO craze and the lack of legitimate qb’s that can read a Defense.

We played palms coverage, cov 4, cov 3, 2-man... We mix our coverages nicely... He also loves to keep the base D on the field and I like that especially against teams with run first qb’s or guys that aren’t accurate.

I think caught up in all of the Bowden adoration, which is 100% deserved, we haven’t given the defense their due. What an incredible job by that unit! To have a top 25 defense after losing what we lost is remarkable.

When Brad White was promoted to the DC job a year ago, I figured there were two ways to look at the promotion.

The first way to look at it would be that White wasn’t a big name headliner hire. He had never been a coordinator before and I knew some fans would just look at him as a cheap hire.

But White already had NFL coaching experience. He was a protege of Dean Hood, so he was well known here. Our players liked him, so he was not only a safe hire but also a continuity hire. Since we had a solid defense in 2018, a continuity hire made sense. And since Mark Stoops is first and foremost a defensive specialist, I figured he knew what he was doing.

The improvement in our defense this year from game #1 through game #12 has been impressive. In particular, Coach White replaced Josh Allen, Adrian Middleton, and our entire starting secondary (plus Davonte Robinson) and still put an excellent defense on the field. It has been a remarkable coaching accomplishment. Without this performance, we would not be a bowl team under the circumstances. In addition, Coach White is currently recruiting RJ Adams, who could soon become a December commitment to our 2020 recruiting class. Time to give Coach White a raise.

I saw an interview with Josh Allen this summer where he said Brad white would be an upgrade over House . Allen LOVES Brad White .
