Goodwin Enters Transfer Portal

Lackford is 0 for 2 this week on UK player news, would love to see him be 0-3. But, this one could be right with Stoops bringing in an experienced LT for next season. Goodwin's lack of playing time has been surprising considering how highly rated he was out of HS. Landon Young played as a true Freshman, but Drake Jackson redshirted and waited his turn.

Hope this is wrong. The kid just needs more time to develop, but in this day and age, it's harder to convince them of this, especially if they have people in their ear telling them the grass is greener somewhere else.

OP needs reading retention classes. Goodwin very well may enter the portal but the title of this thread says “Goodwin enters…….”. Then the tweet he posts clearly says INTENDS. Are you that desperate for hits that you just create false news? Why not just title the thread “Goodwin INTENDS to enter the portal”.

On3 says rivals is reporting, but I don't see that. Other than a Drummond retweet.
I bet this is one of those open secrets everyone has been expecting, but no one had the source to come forward as first.

seems like a distinction without a difference but okay.

...also, why would i care about "hits"? are we getting paid for posting around here and no one every told me!?!?!? lol

He’s got a long way to develop. That said I hope he tries to develop here but if not we’ll be fine

I think I've reached the point where the only way I can really enjoy UK football is if I stop following recruiting, coaching searches, the transfer portal and anything NIL related. Oh yeah, and also have "zero" expectations going into each season. Some of the most enjoyable movies I've ever seen I had either no expectations going in or just assumed would be terrible. If I know nothing about these things, I can't really have high expectations. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can go backwards with this stuff.

Shouldnt be surprising to anyone . Chris Vaughn had him at 3 different high schools in 3 years . Been lots of smoke that Vaughn and his Aspirations Gymn have aligned themselves with Brohm and UL. Hopefully Elijah Reed , Ia yahoo Cummins, and other “aspiration gym “ alumni will be able to think for themselves. cause I’ve heard he’s been in ”all of em’s ear” . That included Valentine who decided to enter the draft instead of the portal.

Sickened by this! Kid didn't finish what he started. Dammit! Not that it is a huge surprise. But disappointing. I think I need to heave.

Meh, a guy who couldn't get on the field at left tackle this season as bad as we were at left tackle, is probably a guy that isn't very good to begin with. If he goes, he goes, I'm not going to lose sleep because an overrated dude wants to transfer because he can't get playing time.

I hate to see him go and wish him the best. It's a shame he couldn't have gotten some snaps at some point this season. Enough to keep him engaged at least.

Good lord calm down.

Yenser and Scangerello/Stoops gave the kid every reason to leave by not playing him some amount of snaps at LT against good competition.

This would allow the coaches to actually grade KG on real game action, and would have allowed KG the opportunity to know first hand what he needed to work on to be able to play LT against SEC competition.

God knows we struggled at LT most of the year. No reason KG could not have gotten a few snaps.

Lankford is a hometown fanboy, not a real recruiting analyst. But yeah, this seems inevitable, him not only entering it but instantly committing to UL

Losing Goodwin is bad. Vaughn & Aspirations gym breaking up with UK ,and finally aligning with UL is worst. I guess it was only a matter of time for those 2 to settle past diff & agree on financial terms.

Our relationships in Nashville & Detroit just became a lot more important.

Intends isn't the same thing as actually doing it. Also as noted this source is notorious for being wrong.

I posted here for months this kid has a long way to go before he will be contributing at T for anyone. We'll see what happens
Yes and I'm not sure the kid has the "want to" to put in the level of work he needs to to be good at this level.

Maybe he wasn't ready to play and they didn't want to put him in at LT, a position where he is protecting the blindside of the QB, out of fear that Levis gets hurt worse than he already was. Not everything is the coaches fault and he was a true freshman and probably like most just not ready to play.

A kid with his rep shoud get some snaps just to see what he can actually do in game situations. May be good for him to get the hell knocked out of him a few times so he knows how he measures up.

Well, I hope this isn’t true, but I do remember Doug Williams, one of the best Offensive linemen in high school. He was 6 foot 5, 275 pounds and signed with Kentucky and couldn’t beat a 6 foot 3, 250 pound Ron Bojalad. He transferred to Texas A&M and became an All American. Things like this have happened before here, just hope it’s nothing.

The days of developing kids are over. It is a slippery slope. It is a win now or play now attitude. Lineman always take longer to develop if they aren’t patient they are going into the portal. Transfers that can play are going to get the nod over a freshman. At this point it only hurts depth.
