Boston College QB

Can he run the option?

After watching basketball and seeing someone run an actual system I am left to wonder just wtf Stoops system is. So far it seems to be pound the ball up the middle. That's what it's always been with Benny and CRod, Bowden anyway.

Now...I'm not sure. It's like some kind of deformed balanced offense. Balanced offenses are hard to pull off at any school that can't get elite level players.

If we are stuck with this clown Stoops then I wish he would settle on something and go. It will allow him to build a reputation and thus attract players who want to specifically play in such a system.

I like the triple option ala Army. It's not flashy but it is perfect for Stoops. Not many run it so the pool for the type of players who likes it is fairly untouched.

Agree to a point. Not loving triple option but some combination of RPO and West Coast passing offense would fit the profile of the type of players we can recruit, imo. Think Eagles offense or, to a lesser extent, the Ravens offense. Straight ahead, inside zone running with a ball-control passing attack that utilizes the middle of the field and flats. I'd applaud that system wholeheartedly.

lol, yeah. Triple option is a pretty radical departure from the norm. Most wouldn't like watching it either, but I have always liked it.

Your suggestions would work just fine. Stoops just needs to decide on an offense and start building a reputation for being the best at it.

Agree 1,000,000%. Have an offensive identity and recruit every single year to that identity. If you're going to rely on shallow crosses by the slot or outside receiver, then recruit shifty, speedy guys, not ball possession 6'-3" guys. RBs need to be >200 lbs and able to catch the football. TEs need to be more like James Whalen than a glorified OT. On and on and on. I'm guessing Mark Pope won't attempt to recruit a back-to-the-basket big who cannot shoot from outside or is a poor passer. That guy won't work in his system. Stoops should talk with Brad White and ask him, 'What's the most difficult offensive scheme (or combination of schemes) you have to prepare for?' Whatever Brad answers, Stoops should make sure that's the scheme we're going to implement, develop and recruit to. No more flip flopping around. We're proven with the merry go round of OCs that changing your scheme all the time means you don't have one.

Let's just use a rb or slot receiver for a qb according to ksr stoops wants to abandon the passing game and just run the ball oh boy more boring ass clock control grind it out football

Well, that would basically be a poor man's triple option. QB/WR runs the ball, or the RBs, or a WR on a jet sweep or some such.

The TO is a complex offensive scheme. Trying it this late in the season is mental, but it isn't like the offense has anything better going, so....
