Global Climate Changes

I, for one, am extremely excited to see my property values rise as all the southwest folks (Texas and Cali included) flock to the North East just so they can have a drink of water.

All kidding aside. It does seem that area has a poor future ahead of it.

Austin recently recorded its highest 7-day average temperature (92.9°F) since record-keeping began during the 1800s. Our current summer season shatters numerous temperature records. Just brutal.

I want to jump from the ozone topic to the indifference of some members who are writing here that nobody cares about Neptune. People, Neptune is the only planet in our solar system not visible to the naked eye, so we have to be aware all the time what happens there since any change, which could affect us seriously and we skipped it by not observing it - can be fatal. And no, I'm not dramatizing, I am just conscious, seriously.

Sup Bev. A/S/L?

Crazy shit. I was reading about how the Colorado River's water is basically "over" spoken for. There isn't enough to go around. And I have to imagine the forest fires are only going to be worse than how bad they already were. Maybe the world and mother nature is telling us "yeah, this part of the US is really just a desert, and you shouldn't really be here".

I belong to the Albany Subreddit under the same name as here (it's a liberal shithole, btw, and I'm probably going to get banned).. but I do find it interesting just HOW many Texans are looking to move to Albany. We're talking like, 1-2 people a week.. Which doesn't sound like much.. but at the same time, it's just the miniscule Albany Subreddit.

Come embrace the winters @AustinTXCat ! I'll take you on a brew tour.

Where do you stand on Pluto?

Beverly you are not the only person here that cares for Neptune. I’ve stayed up many nights wondering like you about it. Matter of fact ive
Got two pugs named Triton and Hippocamp believe it or not. Just recently I had the craziest dream that I was watching the raisinets being born there. I’m not totally sure why, but it’s just weird you bring up Neptune because I’ve always been so interested in that planet. To the point where it annoys the people around me.

Someone is hitting on “Beverley.” Good luck.

Ha ha, thanks, man. I'd love such a tour. Upstate NY is gorgeous during summers. Enough cultural history in your area to keep someone busy for a lifetime. World-class international airline connections out of NYC. But, oh, those savage winters.

I've looked many times over the years at relocating back to KY, at least on a part-time basis for starters. Strongly considered a few second home purchases back there before COVID hit. Prices were cheap. Waited too long.

Down here in TX, our dreadful weather usually starts in June and ends during late-September. Otherwise, all is well.

Yeah, I remember when Abbott lied about renewables causing the blackout then saying he would fix the grid too.

You understand Texas leads the nation in energy production right?
But you realize that the fear of blackouts is because they built so many wind farms and those wind farms have only been running at 8% for over a week. The wind isn't blowing so all those wind farms are worthless. Its what eveyone says is the problem with wind and solar and you think it proves your point... LOL.

Cat - that's the micro view but the macro or big picture view includes the costs to the economy directly as a result of green houses gases and other pollutants. Health care costs due to respiratory and heart disease caused by pollutants from coal fire steam plants are tremendous and insurance claims for disaster damage is escalating at a tremendous rate due to the rapid increase in sever stores and fires. The US DOD has noted Climate Change is one of the highest risks to national security and has a special department working on how to deal with it going forward.

Other industrialized countries like Norway, Brazil and New Zealand have found ways to generate most of their energy needs with renewable sources. If they can do it I see no reason why the greatest country in the world can't.
And Norway is having farmer riots because they are about to lose half their food production. Food tends to be an important part of human life. We should run a poll if people would rather die from 80 years of exposure to air or starve to death in 1 year.... If we both get to use worst case scenario as most likely.

Wind is an anti-nature eyesore, a landfill tragedy, and a weak form of energy in most of this country.

I'd love for some expert to tell me what is "normal" for the earths temp. It seems they think we should suddenly lock in our conditions now for our convenience.

It's actually nothing more than a huge power grab that allows the government to regulate every human and business. People are being played for fools.

All the misinformation about the Texas Grid, smh.

The Texas Sec. of Agriculture came out after last years mess and flat said that back in the 80's. there was a winter storm that was much worse that lasted much longer............and they had zero problems. The money recently that was allocated for upkeep and fixes was constantly diverted to renewables, so the grid suffered and failed.

Pathetic seeing Beto proclaim that he was going to fix the grid in a tweet yesterday. He couldn't even fix his skateboard.

I give him credit for having a skateboard.

The problem ppl keep getting bought in to this whole green movement, which is backed by wind and solar lobbyists.
Their absolute abandonment of nuclear is what makes this obvious.

So you think there are side negatives of nuclear? Okay. But if your proclaimed goal is zero carbon then an intelligent person would infer you would keep the nuclear that ALREADY exists since its zero carbon while you work on other things. But no, they want to shut those down first too.

A alot of this stuff comes from Russian disinformation too. One of the fallacys of ppl in this country is that the disinformation only flows in one direction. It doesn't. They'll fund anything to weaken the US domestic energy options in the interim.

While climate change is real, The green movement is pretty much nonsense...to this point where they've created a cult religion. If you question anything their immediate response is science denier...though they don't understand any of the science itself and no one said they don't "believe science"

We are seeing what happens in country's with a "green new deal"

The water wars/conflicts and climate migrations that are coming throughout the world are going to make for a pretty rough time in human history.

You're literally sharing misinformation.

I searched ESG scores and have no idea where this guy, whose tweet you shared, got his information.

None of these rankings have Ghana or Sri Lanka in the top 10. Norway is 4th, Sri Lanka 86th and Ghana 125th.

All ESG is is a measure of risk using a wide array of measurements with, 20% of which are Environmental related, 30% Social and 50% Governance.

ESG score is a measure of a company's exposure to long-term environmental, social, and governance risks that are often overlooked during traditional financial analyses.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Environmental Performance, Environmental Risk, Environmental Status.

Social

Aging, Human Capital, Inequality, Social Conditions, Social Unrest, Corruption, Globalization & Innovation, Regulation & Fin. Development.

Governance Indicators

Institutions, Personal Freedom, Political Risk, Political Stability.

Lastly, even if what that guy is tweeted were true about those three countries being above 90 it doesn't result in his hypothesis being true. Correlation does not mean causation

Edit: I misread Netherlands as Norway. Netherlands is ranked 15th in ESG.
