Global Climate Changes

Very impressed with Ron DeSantis's work on Climate Change in Florida. He immediately undid the previous horrendous anti-climate change policies of Rick Scott, then he fired all the anti-environmentalists in the Florida Govt, then he spent over 25 million immediately on his first few days in office to enact drastic efforts to combat the effects of climate change in Florida.

DeSantis is a big Climate Change guy and it's refreshing to at least see one Republican that gets it and is so all-in on fighting the truly global effects this looming unfolding disaster. Hopefully the entire world will follow Ron DeSantis's lead on Climate Change.
Yeah I remember back in 2005 these same climate experts said by 2020 costal Louisiana would be under 10 feet of water. We just had another beer and some more stone crab laughing at that sh!t 🍺
And do better with a different handle, you’ve got at least 4 or 5 now

There are NOT more hurricanes or anything than 100 years ago. When people say they’re “more costly” than ever they’re correct, because there are millions more people living by the coasts and they don’t live in wooden shanties anymore so obviously it is more expensive.

They have not become more severe either. Ask Forbes magazine. Swear to Jesus Mane
This is true. Lex Fridman recently had a global warming conversation with smart guys on both sides of argument and they talked about that for some time. They intentionally avoided political tropes in conversation.

What is also true is while that’s true, humans are ****ing up the environment in many ways. Expansion into high risk areas is one of those.

Also, this thread was bumped because a winter storm is coming and that’s as dumb as saying every heat wave is global warming. Yes, I know people in media some dumb shit like this too, but that’s also part of the problem.

And that’s the great thing about a message board 🍺🐊🥶

Those 2 podcast were really good. I like Lex but he might be a robot.

Absolutely. But you can’t terrify people with this to the point that you can seize the means of production, as you can with climate. Even if any part of it is true, reversing it would be nearly impossible and thus mitigating the effects would be far more reasonable.

But again, that doesn’t allow for the seizure of the economy.

I have seen nothing the last few years that make me think they believe there is any limitations on what they can seize or dictate.

Same for tornadoes. Studies still claim they have no idea what effect, if any, that climate change has on them. Flooding and fire issues are a result of government policies that banned dredging of creeks and prohibited controlled burns in prone areas. None of the big predictions from the last 20 years have came to fruition. We should take care of our planet but the climate scare is just another way to grab tax dollars and funnel money to special interest groups.

And inflation. That's combined with the increased population especially near warm climate areas are where the "more costly" comes from.

The storms themselves are no worse than before and they're actually less frequent than before.

Yet when that info comes out, the same people yell that's also due to climate change. It's hilarious

Climate Change is a very simple concept. So anyone that disagrees with Anthropogenic Global Warming please answer these very simple questions:

1) Is CO2 a greenhouse gas?
2) Has the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere increased dramatically over the last 100 years which coincides with industrialized human activity?
3) If 1 and 2 are true, which they are as they are scientific certainties, then how is it possible to dramatically increase greenhouse gasses in the razor thin atmosphere and not expect to impact climate?

Build a greenhouse in your backyard then go inside. Feel that? But you're not surprised? Why? It's the exact same principle. You're trapping more heat inside that would otherwise escape out.

Now, what determines whether an organism be it plant or animal survives? Rate of change. A living organism can only survive as long as the rate of change in climate does not exceed the organism or the food the organism depends upon does not exceed the living organism or its food's ability to adapt. When rate of change exceeds the ability to adapt the result is extinction.

Right now, today, completely unknown to you we are smack in the middle of the 6th mass extinction event in world history:

Currently, the species extinction rate is estimated between 1,000 and 10,000 times higher than natural extinction rates—the rate of species extinctions that would occur if we humans were not around. While extinctions are a normal and expected part of the evolutionary process, the current rates of species population decline and species extinction are high enough to threaten important ecological functions that support human life on Earth, such as a stable climate, predictable regional precipitation patterns, and productive farmland and fisheries.

Google 6th mass extinction event and understand what that means.

Life is failing to adapt to change all over the globe already and it will intensify. The cold air pouring down out of the arctic tonight is not normal. They call them arctic blasts. That cold air leaving the arctic is because record warm air is entering it both by air and sea. The processes like the jet stream and the global thermohaline circulation are being disrupted and will eventually cease. These are the primary drivers of climate on the planet. Want to introduce climate rate of change that outstrips life's ability to adapt then those are great ways to do it.

There are a number of additional horrors as well. Each new feedback loop that begins is another nail in the coffin. There are already far too many to prevent. Barring some miracle advance in technology in carbon capture there will be no happy ending. There also will not be any far off into the future consequences. These are now. Already. Anything that results in earth being a barren lifeless rock with no water or atmosphere will be a miracle of indescribably great proportions. We've had climate change events before such as the Permean extinction that nearly drove all life from the planet, but not only are we changing the climate much faster now than what happened then, we have 480 nuclear power stations all around the globe. Do you know what ionizing radiation does?

Enjoy your lives and your families. Every reasonably healthy person reading this will all be killed by the same thing. It won't be sea level rise. That is foolish distraction. So enjoy the very short relatively "normal" that is left. You don't need to worry about retirement plans or college savings. Live happily what life is left and be thankful for it.

I will not address this issue further. You have between 2 and 7 years left and we're all in that same boat together. Your belief is not required and neither are your affirmations. This is what will be unless some technological miracle happens and if you knew and understood the furious global search for one you would be terrified and really there is no point in that at all.

LOL_MAN, “It don’t matter y’all! We’re ALL dead in 2 to 7 years! This time we’re right not like the Al gore time or the Greta time or any of the others that were completely wrong!

Hell iohno why stoops is even recruiting for the 2025 class! They’ll all be dead just like your mamas and babies!!!

Go to a beach and blow your cash gang! Live it up!”

It’s just too bad knowing he’ll burn out or be on his 7th account before he has to answer for this because if LOL_Man knows it the GOVT knows it and they’re NOT TELLING US WHHHHYYYYYYYY?!?!?!

Interesting. Japan is reversing course and going all in on nuclear plants to provide reliable carbon free energy production. I guess that they don't want to get dependent on Putin's cheap natural gas like many European nations did. It is a smart move for a heavily industrial nation without fossil fuel resources.

If you believed this it means you are for the following:

1) Building as many nuclear plants as fast as possible
2) Using said nuclear power for carbon capture
3) Ritualized suicide

Germany is absolutely f****d anyway because they import most ALL their energy so that’s a country problem not a global problem. I’ve read China is in the same boat too
China has the second most coal reserves (next to the U.S)l in the world. They are still building dozens of new coal fired plants that they intend to use for at least the next 40 or so years. They don't have much oil or natural gas though.

And they shut down their nuclear plants to save the planet... LOL. Germany's economy is going to absolute tank this winter. Their energy cost are up 4X this year and still going up.

China is going to get a couple pipelines from Russia going through Mongolia. Supposedly they are negotiating slowly because the Mongolians don't trust either of them.

Good luck with the world allowing pipelines from Russia to China unless they takeover a bunch of land that the people don’t want it. I know about the pipelines here and all the uproar, but going through that whole area might be really tough.

Any major country not pushing for nuclear buildout isn’t serious about carbon reduction or climate change. Nuclear is the only tech available that is both reliable and carbon free.

Classic Z. However I am docking a few style points for not including his scientific organizations list.

I know that there's changes in climate. I just like making fun of the "believe science" aka the ppl that have turned into a religion crowd. The ppl that use literally any weather event to claim its climate change without knowing if it is or not.

When they used to call it global warming, days like today were fun bc they'd say "no no that's not how it works" yet as soon as we have a hot day in the summer...."See! Global warming science denier!"

Nothing better than a few months ago after an extremely mild hurricane season, one outlier hits florida and they refused to have their dogma tested after scientists said no this hurricane is of no relation bc they "believe" science so it had to be. Lol

Who's done more for climate change?
Elon musk or democrats?
Yet one bought twitter, and you just can't have that. Lol!

Are we under the same atmosphere as China? Just curious.

Meteorologists not in The Paddock have forecasted next weekend's temps in the upper 50's in my area. Right now it's -1°.

So what does that mean? Weather is going to change again? I too think weather will change. It was 69s last year when I was home in KY.

Two things stand out to me that aren’t covered in your theory.

1) 95%+ of CO2 in the atmosphere is the result of natural causes and we still haven’t reached levels that the earth has seen multiple times in it’s existence.
2) Temps currently are well below the mean for earths average atmospheric temperature during history.

It’s hard for me to see throwing trillions upon trillions of dollars that could be put to better use. I think any sensible person is or should be up for taking logical steps toward improving the environment in general, but to completely break the economy over it is ludicrous.

100%

If people think losing our political/military/economic/etc influence is worth saving the world then you do it. Not me. If the other countries we’ve named did the same and actually did it, great, but giving up our economic and military sovereignty to achieve a bullshit goal
is asinine.

That appears to be an honest effort to learn so I will waste my time and address it.

The last time CO2 was at 400ppm was around 4 million years ago during the Pliocene Era. And that isn't even the problem. The planet would survive if we were only looking at mass extinctions resulting from a Pliocene-esque 3℃ warming and much, much higher sea levels. It wouldn't be pleasant and billions would die, but that isn't a planet killer. CO2 is heading much higher than that and the host of horrors (as I called them) include the complete loss of cloud formations when the combination of CO2 and methane are the equivalent of 1200ppm and we're over 2/3rds of the way there right now. You have the complete loss of ice in the arctic, the complete collapse of grain crops globally, monsoon rains sweeping over arctic permafrost, the Jet Stream completely collapsing, and the thermohaline current shutting down ... many such blows that will cascade upon each other with an increasing intensity and frequency killing billions.

As bad as it will be (all of civilization depends upon the ability to grow, store, and transport grain at scale) none of these things are planet killers. Once the planet has been tortured sufficiently for a couple of years at most, then the effects of warm ocean water flowing into the Eastern Siberian Arctic Shelf will destabilize methane clathrates enough to result in the very same thing that caused the Permian extinction: a gigantic release of >500 gigatons of methane abruptly into the atmosphere. The last time of course in the Permian extinction it only took a few million years for the planet to recover so, again, very bad but not the complete end, geologically speaking in terms of millions of years of recovery time but indeed it did recover.

This time, however, unlike the Permian extinction there are 480 nuclear power plants around the globe. As they melt down then ionizing radiation will strip away our atmosphere and we'll lose all the water on the planet. The planet will be scoured clean once our atmosphere is lost just like what happened to Mars. A lifeless featureless floating rock in space with no trace anything was ever here at all.

Oh, I almost laughed at your point about throwing tax dollars as if that is an option you have as tortuous as you may find it. Really, it is such a comical point I don't know what to do other than smile about it.

Nobody is spending their way out of this. Billionaires are trying as is every Government on the globe. Bill Gates is spending a small fortune working with Harvard in an attempt to 'seed' clouds as a means mitigate climate change. There are serious proposals to build floating mirror arrays to float in the arctic in a desperate attempt to stop the northern oceans from absorbing heat 24/7 once all ice is lost either this summer or next. Maybe even giant solar sails far enough out in space to partially shield the sun. The money you fear is already being spent in vast amounts all over the globe.

Methane is already completely off the charts in the arctic. There are website available that track these things but again, do you really want to know?

My whole point here is not to convince you of anything other than taking the time to care about the lives that will be cut short in your own family. You and they deserve that, at least. Spend your time purposefully and at least with full knowledge of what is coming. Men deserve that for their families.

We are not close to 300ppm CO2 and there is no direct correlation to methane rates and ”greenhouse effect” or global warming as it is called. The fact is that everyone likes to point out all of these factors to why the end of the world is coming, but all of them are likely the earth doing what it’s done over the last several millions of years. The only direct impact that COULD be related to methane increase is temperatures which have increased very little over the last 30 years, and again are still well under what is considered the average the earth has experienced over time. The 1200ppm theory is also so unproven and there is zero direct correlation with either CO2 or Methane ppm to loss of arctic ice caps. The north pole loses ice with the South Pole gains it. That’s what is happening now and what has happened many, many times during history. So to tie back Methane to all of these chicken little theories is as ridiculous as Gore saying the east coast would be under water within 20 years Back in the 80’s. So keep trying to push the theory and continue to buy into the propaganda that is being spewed, but until there is a very real, proven direct correlation then I will chose actually look from both sides and make my own guided determination on what is a real threat versus what politicians are going to use to gain more control over the masses. Believe what you want but nothing you point to as your “end of time“ theory is proven or has any indicators which directly correlate. Keep believing though, that’s exactly what they want so they can control you.
