Gilmore gone

Going out and recruiting hard is costly and time consuming and it’s a hit or miss thing. If you bring a really good class in, half of them may be gone the next year. It’s getting pretty hard to be optimistic about any good class now knowing you will be losing some you Wasted money on the year before. All this means is as time goes by, more and more people are getting less interested. Loyalty is gone, it’s just show me the money now. College football shouldn’t be this way, the NFL doesn’t interest me and now college football is losing what made it special. You can change schools as many times as you want, that’s ridiculous. Make them sit out a year if they want to go somewhere else, right now they are having their cake and eating it too.

I like Stoops, always have. I draw a different conclusion from all of this though. I think it's more likely, at least in my opinion, that whoever the coach is over the next five years, UK is getting closer and closer to not being able to afford a competitive football team.
Yep because the most important thing in all things UK is to ensure the bball has the most $$$ to pay the best to be the best. Football is the institutional cash cow that keeps everything else afloat. Only way to solve it is to reproduce 2012 again and demand with the wallet. At least if you want a championship type football team…if you don’t, then keep hittin that ticket renewal button.

And the rumor of knocking up a young 20 something year old,, waitress I think it was?

I know plenty who dated some 20 somethings when they were single in their 30s and 40s. More power to them. Never heard he knocked somebody up, tho.

Rumors are rumors. I haven't seen any toddlers at the Catwalk with Stoops...

Explain WHY we can't compete when our NIL budget is larger than 9 other SEC teams. Stoops has created this straw man and alot of fans have bought it hook line and sinker. I call BS

Even if that's true, still not good enough to make the sec title game or go 10 and 2. Evidently that'd what it takes to make the playoff due to committee politics.

Keep on dreaming though. My Titans are gonna win the super bowl one year soon too. Got to hope.

I don't know what the NIL budgets are, never seen anything concrete about that. Schools you would think either inflate those numbers or skew them downward as to not tip their hand about their resources. The TV money is a wash, all other schools UK competes with will be getting the same, MB will spread that out amongst all of the programs. As a football fan, that bugs me, as a human, I totally get it and understand it. The main difference I think is in the rabid boosters that refuse to let money be a deciding factor as to wether their team is good or not, UK doesn't't have a ton of those, most schools in this conference do.

College football is becoming just like professional sports without the salary caps. No thanks. About done with it.
Yep. The NCAA brought this on themselves. They were so greedy with all that money they didn't want to share any of it and didn't worry about using athletes name and likeness to garner more money. Our colleges should prove to everyone the fallacy of education meaning smart. LOL.

Yea 30-40s,, lol.. Just gets creepy when you're in your 50s and older.. She may have been a cheerleader.. Can't remember.. Going by rumor you will never see the toddler,, was paid off to have an abortion..

This is why it’s such a colossal waste of money to keep stoops…

Why spend on oline
Why spend on qb
Whey spend on rb
Heck we even bought a TE that had like 2 receptions

Just lose all 12 games and save your money for stoops buyout….this is silly to lose your present and future to allow Stoops to delay the inevitable

I think Stoops will stay at least another two years, Barnhart may not fire him no matter what. As others have pointed out, what did it gain A&M to pay $75M to Fisher, then spend another butt load of money on a new coach and staff, and another butt load on NIL . . . only to go 8-5?

Honestly, I have said for a long time now that I seriously doubt Kentucky has the financial resources to play the NIL/transfer portal game successfully, so from a business sense, what good does it do to waste $44M or $33M or even $22M to buy out Stoops, if you then have to go out and spend a ton more money on new coaches and players?

This thread is premature until Gilmore actually commits to play for another program. Entering the portal provides a stable structured methodology (with minimal outright tampering) for him to judge his market value. It is actually very smart for him to investigate his value and the process is not limited to overtures from other schools; UK can offer him also and the bidding will proceed from there.. If the money offers are not significantly different, then the subjective factors of scheme, playing time, location, academics, etc. will enter in.

The problem is, over 95% of those who go in the portal are gone for good. It's probably closer to 100% than 95%. If Gilmore is the exception, great.

Maclin was "gone" until he wasn't. And the vast majority of portal transfers are players who were shown the door by their former schools. None of those guys are coming back. Gilmore will make the deal that is best for him and what those other players (the ones who actually had a choice; most don't) did is irrelevant to that.

We’re not talking about going ten and two right now. We need much better program running and coaching just to get back to treading water.

While possibly true, an alternative possible perspective is he was wanting to see what we were bringing in for next year and now that he’s seen it is looking to get out of dodge. But to your point could all be a money play. Either is plausible.

That's cool, but fans are also able to investigate the market value of season tickets and all the other $$$ that goes into participating in game days...for those of you who aren't season ticket holders, you have to pay $350 just for the right to purchase a $300 parking lot pass for games.

The ncaa and political lunatics who created this mini nfl monster will not care - those of us who have had enough will.

Not knocking your post personally Stretch98 - just voicing an opinion that has grown within the last couple years and I wish I didn't feel this way as UK football games used to be fun. Went to the SC game and that was enough for me.
