http://media.espn929.com/a/108192522/gary-parrish-show-8-11-15-hour-2-w-geoff-calkins-in-seg-1.htm?Driving home from work listening to Gary oarrish on his local radio show on 92.9. ( will, link podcast as soon as it is up)

They were talking about recruiting and a story that started going around . gary starts by talking about a coach recruiting a kid and has watched 30+'games and Cal swoops,in and watches him twice and gets him. He never says coaches name or recruits name. So evidently from numerous coaches and sources, This coach starts bashing Cal and says something shady happened. Gary then says it gets back to Calipari ....

So in Vegas , Cal confronts this coach and calls him out. He says "I heard what you said". The coach back tracks and says he didn't say it... Cal says " I know you did, I've been told by many people, close to me." He then tells this coach that he can get whomever he wants anytime he wants. Cal,proceeded to tell him that if we want him at UK we can have him. It's just the way it is He told the coach he should be thankful when he doesn't see him in the gym because then doesn't have to worry about him.

The smack down Gary portrayed was Funnier than i just typed out. Look on 92.9 ESPN in a few hours and give it a listen. It had me cracking up the whole, way home how Calipari called him out in front of other coaches. I just wonder who it is

37 minute mark of show

Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not knocking this guy or anything, but I was shocked by his grammar.

"Ain't" and "It don't matter" etc.

This guy is a national writer and he talks like that?

Sorry, I should not judge because I probably talk like that at times, but this guy was on the radio and is suppose to be a journalist. He should be a little more eloquent, IMHO.

Sorry, I know that it doesn't really matter, but I just had to say something.

First person I thought of was Lorenzo Romar.
The Terrence Jones saga had to be a tough one to take.

UNC or Indiana can not do that. LOL at G. Parrish.

Only handful of program can do it, the list G. Parrish did is laughable. It's ONLY UK, Duke, and Kansas. UNC hasn't really recruited all that well, and have lost everyone. Arizona does decently for players around the legion.

I'm trying to figure out which play the story was from. Which players did Coach Cal recruit at the last minute. I know Ulis was one. Wasn't Briscoe one also? Murray also pretty close to last minute. That's recent.

I don;t remember how we recruited WCS. Wiltjer is another one that was crazy. Jones had weird twist. Kanter also had a little quick change (I believe he was committed elsewhere, initially.)

The only thing that doesn't fit the story about Teague is that we spent a ton of time recruiting him also. Cal didn't just go watch Teague 1 time

I recall the original story being more along the lines of Cronin went all-in on Teague verrrrry early, like recruiting him since middle school. Then Cal comes in his senior year and basically wraps him up. Remember UL and IU were on him before UK.

I'd say most people, especially journalists, write a hell of a lot better than they talk.

Apparently, another prominent head coach was running his mouth in recruiting circles that Cal was a cheater, shortly after Cal had stolen his prize recruit in a matter of a couple of weeks.

Then, Cal confronted this coach in Las Vegas when he got wind of it, and what he said is EPIC

"This one coach, a prominet coach, head been recruiting this kid hard. He'd been recruiting this kid and watcing every game he'd played in for two years, every minute of the summer. Been to like 30 games. John Calipari came in late in this subsequent summer and recruited him for like two weeks and watched him in like one game, and the kid committed to Kentucky.

"The coach started yapping in coaching cirlces about Calipari saying, 'They must have cheated. There's no way they got this kid. I've been on this kid for two years. Cal just came in and got him.'

"100% true, John confronts this guy in Vegas, because he heard the guy was yapping. He confronts him. Cal approaches the coach and says something like ‘Listen, I know what you’ve been saying. I know you did, I know you said what you said. I’ve heard it from enough people, but I want you to understand one thing.

'Yes, I am the type of guy who can come in at the last minute and take any player I want from you. You can spend your whole life recruiting a kid and at the end of the day. If I want him, I’ll get him. If we want him, we’ll get him.

'Don’t ever get that confused. Be appreciative every time I don’t come in and get your guy. Don’t accuse me of cheating when I do."

The guy is absolutely unbelievable and I LOVE it.

Bruce Weber is one of the biggest crybabies of all time, so he's a possibility with Davis. Plus, didn't he start the rumor about Davis getting $200,000?? That guy is a twerp.
