Gameday asking for all time UK starting 5

Can't believe Gettelfinger was overlooked.

isn't it kinda nice to have so very many worthy players, that we can't decide on a consensus five?

I know how great guys like Issel were, but I'm going strictly off the guys that I watched play!

I really don't think there's any other answer. Players from 40-50 years ago wouldn't even be comparable to players today.
Don't think you ever watched some of the players from 50 years ago. Issel and others could compete with anybody.

I don't think they would. Just like Jim Brown wouldn't be nearly close to what he was in the NFL today. If you took the athlete from that era, exactly what they were, how they developed, etc...and put them in today's game, they wouldn't make it.

Today's athletes are faster, stronger and move much more efficiently.

Skill-wise, maybe...but I suppose the context someone takes with the question.

In 20 years, the 2035 version of athletes will be better than almost everyone from the 2015 era, no matter how great the 2015 guys were.

Crap, now this is going to end up as a 50 page thread where half say players from the old days would crush today's players and the other half arguing the opposite. The comment at the end of your post is all it takes.

So apparently they come to the conclusion that KU would win. If that's the case why are they so far behind in nearly every statistical category?
Doesn't make sense.
