Collet swings at ball four and strikes out to end the Kentucky 6th.

Gabriel says that a catcher going in to talk to the pitcher counts as a conference and there are only so many conferences allowed. Still didn't catch the number of allowed conferences.
Harper starts the bottom half of the second with a walk before giving up a deep fly that Shelby runs down in right. Wild pitch advances the runner. UK intentionally walks Phillips, and they don't have to throw the 4 pitches (hate that rule).

Ugh Shinny can't run down a fly in left field and it goes for a two out triple. He laid out for it, but couldn't run it down and we are now tied at 2-2 with the Governors still threatening.
Strikeout ends the damage, but we are tied up going to the 7th.

Reed pops out to begin the 7th for UK. Shinny works a full count and grounds to the left side for out number two. Close play and the Cats didn't like the call. Kessler gets UK's first HBP of the year to give UK a bit of life in the top of the 7th.

Brandon Vial now coming on to pitch for Peay. Righty transfer had a 5.92 ERA a year ago, and seems to have some control issues. ARod needs to be patient and make this guy throw strikes.
ARod takes my advice (haha) and works a 3-2 count after seeing a first pitch strike. He had a good hitters count, but fouled back the 3-1. Walked him. Good eye by ARod to get a runner into scoring position with 2 outs. ARod the only UK hitter to get a base on balls with two.
Gabriel always does this time of year. He isn't terrible with the information, but he just never seems to have any excitement about anything. Price was a treasure.
Wild pitch advances the runners. Vial had a problem with wild pitches a year ago. UK could score here and get the lead back all without getting a hit. Lewis did a good job getting up early, and goes 3-0 before going down on strikes to end the UK 7th.
Harper still going back out there for the 7th. I think I would like to see someone else here, but Harper gets 7, 8, 9, so this shouldn't be a dangerous spot and he should have a short leash.
Harper gives up a HBP and puts the leadoff man aboard for the third consecutive inning. IMO, that should be it for him, but it seems like Belanger is going to leave him in.
Governors trade a base for an out and put a runner in scoring position. Marsh and Daniels in the bullpen and throwing for UK. Weird combination considering that Marsh is slated to pitch Sunday. Marsh may be just staying warm, or maybe UK doesn't think they will get in 3 games this weekend?

Hard spot for a freshman I guess. I think we should have just gone to another pitcher to begin the inning, or at the very least, after Harper hit the first batter.
Carson does what he does best and gets a called strike three to get UK out of the inning. AP 4 UK 2 going to the 8th.
AP going to a new pitcher now as well. Another lefty, Gollert, to face the left-handed heavy top of the lineup for UK. Daniel leads off UK with a double into the left field corner. Cam Hill now with a chance to do something with it.
Hill with a double over the head off the left fielder and he trades places with Daniels to bring UK within 1!! First pitch swinging for Hill.
Back to back doubles by Daniel and Hill to start the 8th helps the Cats get one of those runs back. It's 4-3.
Shelby now stepping into the box with Hill at second and no outs. In a different spot you might see Hill get a bit aggressive and try to steal third, but I imagine he will stay close with no outs and righty Shelby at the plate. Shelby works a 3-0 count. He had the green light on 3-0 and fouls one off, he had a good pitch to hit there, and then he watches a second strike. Hill goes and steals third base and there is a ball four!! Great sequence and great awareness by Hill to take third when they weren't paying attention to him!!
