What is the best?

Franco’s? McGee’s? Claudia Sanders? Dasha Barbour’s? CM? Joella’s? Royal’s? Chik n Mi? Shirley Mae’s Cafe? Lee’s? Gus’s?

It may be necessary to separate the hot from the not.

What are your favorites? Top three. Let us know.

Without question The Eagle bar and restaurant on Bardstown Rd. across from The Bristol.

Mellwood Tavern only serves fried chicken twice a week but it's damn good. Cottage Inn used to be good but haven't eaten there since the new owners took over.

I've been watching this guy for a few weeks now. Really like that he goes all around the state and tries the different places and samples most of the foods from places I never heard of. Sometimes a interview with the owners.

Don't eat fried chicken a lot but when I do I like Cracker Barrels southern fried chicken. I like drizzling some Mikes hot honey on it.

I love Dasha’s and Franco’s. Gus’s disappointed. If you claim the best, you better bring it. I hear McGee’s is really good. For hot, I think I like Royal’s over Joelle’s, but admit that I am not really that into the Nashville chicken. Heard CM’s is good.

Not Louisville, but everyone knows where the best fried chicken in Lexington is.

That little grocery store on Southland Dr. (Used to be Slones)

The eagle is off the charts good fried chicken. Have a Bardstown road location but the new location by Topgolf is my go too. Have the honey to pour on it there too. The BLT chicken sandwich is damn good too.

Krispy Krunchy and Chesters are usually sold in the gas stations.
Grandy's used to have some fire ass fried chicken back in the day.
I will not turn my nose up at chain guys like Popeyes and Churchs.
Pull off at Church's with Pirellis skirtin.

Way way back in the day, Druthers was very underrated in the fired chicken game, fish and chips also.

On the flip side, Bojangles is trash. Same with Lee's Famous chicken, absolute trash.

I like Popeyes for fingers. I also like Lee’s. So, as someone said above, some people’s trash can be another's’ prize.

I agree. it is just Lee's is just too greasy for me, even for fried chicken. Immediately after eating it, I always regretting it. Now, I will not even eat there. JMO.

There was this new place that opened up by my house last month called Dave’s Hot Chicken. I rolled my eyes at it as it’s like the 100th fried chicken place that’s opened up around here (Columbus) in the last 5 years. However I tried it a couple weeks ago (will admit I’d been drinking) and WOW. Place was legit. Not sure if there’s one in Louisville but I know it’s a national chain and was fantastic.

Critchfields meats and market. Bought the building from a Save a lot that used to be there. Bought the fryers and chicken recipe as well and kept that rolling thank God.

Indi's. Go to the one off Fern Valley rd. You can dine in at that one.

Been to that one a few times. Good chicken and dirty rice. It doesn't look like it, but Fern Valley has some hidden gem food places. I frequent them often.

Indi’s is great, and there are multiple non west end locations as well.
I moved from Louisville and now live in Lexington and it has an Indi's too. It is located on the North Broadway and 7th. Not the best neighborhood but it's safe.
