Fox signing with an agent, entering draft

Well one of these days one of these guys will sacrifice the millions to help us win a championship. One of these days maybe if Cal doesn't get in the way that is.
The fans are about winning championships and the coach is about putting players in the NBA. There's a disconnect there in my opinion.
For me I say **** the NBA. All the NBA does is rob Kentucky of its chances to win championships every damn year
Cal doesn't give a crap about the NBA but he does care about a players future and to ask a player that's guaranteed millions to wait is nothing but selfish.

If you TRULY think Cal cares more about the NBA than winning NCAA titles, you have a complete inability to read between the lines. The NBA shtick is a recruiting tactic designed to give him the best players year in and year out. I'm sure he's plenty happy when they cash in, and it'd be wrong to stand in their way, but you're a blithering idiot if you truly think he cares more about the NBA.

You mad bro? Cal has UK in a position to win it all almost every season by being a players first program.
I'll take that... and you should too. We're damn lucky to be able to watch this talent go through the program.

I knew when Bluegrass79 posted about Cal and the NBA that he'd get hammered. I chose StubbornPenny's reply to attach to my post because without the 'blithering idiot' comment it's 100% correct and spot on. I can't say how much Cal cares for the NBA but 99.9% of his OAD comments are a recruiting tactic. I think most UK fans know that. With all of that said I feel very strongly that it's fair for a UK fan to feel like Bluegrass79. I feel that way myself and it DOESN'T MEAN I DISLIKE CAL OR HAVE ILL WILL TOWARDS THE FRESHMEN THAT LEAVE. I truly wish we would have a player or a group of players that would understand the passion of the BBN and stick around to try and give us that 'joy' Cal always talks about. I realize we may not win the NC no matter who stays but the chances are a whole lot better that we WOULD win it than the chances are that the player would get a career ending injury. No need to blast me because De'Aaron was great and I wish him the best but somewhere there is a player (or two) that could stick around and help us get a NC before leaving so quickly.

It's not a dumb post. Yeah he got too jacked up and it came out a little strong but it's okay to want a good freshmen (NBA READY) to come back for another year. Again, I get it when they leave but not all of them go. Seems like all of ours go but other than being a little too harsh with his wording I think it was okay. There's nothing wrong for an avid UK fan to want that next title. I'd sure like to live to see it and as so many have pointed out they are really hard to win.

Give up a year salary of your job. I bet you won't do it.

I guess it's official...Dang happy for him...Seems as though it's not how he wanted it released.
FYI. Ben Simmons 1st pick will receive
26620450 in 4yrs, vs Kris Dunn's 17488287...
So definitely a huge difference in wage 1 vs 5.

Nah, it's pretty dumb. No kid in his right mind should sacrifice the opportunity to set his family up FOR LIFE. Incredibly selfish to suggest that Cal should be holding them back from that so some dufus can tattoo another title number to his calf.

Oh come on ChampCat and the other guy will give up a year of work if it meant the Cats win the natty title in 2018. They will let their wife and kids (if they have them) starve to death for #9! lmao oh the hypocrisy of UK fans.

You know something that really goes unnoticed is that the Kentucky players really do seem to be set up for life. I think Cal does a great job of making sure these one and done teenagers protect the money they are making and also use the money to give back. When you read so many stories about athletes going bankrupt, I really think this is a big deal. A Kentucky player learns that valuable lesson and I also think Cal makes sure they leave Kentucky in good standing, are prepared for their new job in regards to maturity and handling the media. I'm glad they are in the NBA, but I also am pleased with how they handle themselves after leaving.

I was surprised at how much I grew to respect and like Fox by year end. Ended up being one of my favorite Cats. That interview of he and Bam crying in the locker room after UNC - I know it's 2017 and in internet-land everyone is a cynical ass and so he took some grief, but in my eyes he grew in stature....

Yeah, I know I'm probably biased, but Fox would be my PG pick over Ball with no hesitation. Kid has heart, and in my mind that gives him the edge over Ball.

For the life of me I can't understand why people like you have to act like smart ass comedians for absolutely no reason. You put me in mind of Zipp or KerryRhodes. Idiots who take cheap shots because they think they're cute when in fact they're just dicks. I never said Fox should come back. I never said I didn't like Cal. I specifically (that means 'for sure') said that Cal uses the OAD philosophy as a recruiting tool to appeal to the elite players for recruiting purposes and also that I feel sure he wants another title as bad as anyone. So here you come with slobber running out of your mouth saying I should give up a year of work which is about as far from apples to apples as you can get. But guess what genius- I've given up two years of work in the past ten years to volunteer for something more important than money in the bank so you're just an idiot. One last time for those with IQ's (that leaves you out #8)- I'd love to see a good player stick around and if that increases your level of ignorance then have at it. Peace out.

Remember where we was 9 years or so ago, Don't forget, don't ever forget.

I read a promo on the upcoming 30 for 30 where Cal indicated that he realized after Dejuan Wagner's NBA career came to a sudden end because of his diagnoses with Colitus (I think I'm remembering that right) that he realized that if he had tried to talk that kid into staying at Memphis that Wagner would have never made a dime in the NBA. From that point on if a kid is projected to go high, he encourages them to go.

Classic "these kids owe me something" post.

I have to ask, if you're from Kentucky and go play ball in Texas (Fox in reverse), and you could play one year and then go make (theoretically) enough money to be set for the rest of your days, would you risk a career-threatening injury to return to school for a year to play for free while sacrificing one year of earnings potential in hopes of winning a title for Texas?

I know I wouldn't. I understand being upset when a fringe first-rounder or second-rounder leaves early, but Top-10 picks have to go. It's the smart move.

This. If/when Briscoe and Gabriel declare I understand and will share in the angst a bit. Idk why people expect one of these studs to come back.

I mean Terrence Jones and WCS came back...very good players. One helped us win a title and the other helped UK start out 38-0 and lost a heart breaker to Wisconsin and Higgins. So the other poster acts like it never happens.

Furthermore, UK has won 4 national titles in going on 60 years now. Since the 58 title (unexpected one to say the least), UK has won in 78, 96, 98 and 2012. I'm not sure why people are freaking out so much over expectations of winning so many national titles in a short time period.

Don't you just think this whole thing is out of hand? It's too too much

Terrence Jones is on line 1.
TJ was worried about the lockout. If that didn't happen then he likely doesn't return and there's a good chance we are sitting on 7.

"Having a chance" every year doesn't do much good if we aren't taking advantage of it every so often.

But he returned, that's the point. Just like Brandon Knight, he had the option to leave early and he didn't. he is the only player in the Cal era to win All SEC honors and return the following year. He sacrificed money to come back and play for the Cats. I wrote in a post the day after we lost in the Elite Eight that we need another Terrence Jones to help lead us to the promised land.

I definitely agree with you there. We absolutely need another TJ. But let's not forget another returnee who was probably just as big, Lamb. Was he going to be drafted OAD? Likely no, but stuff like that hasn't stopped other kids.

I miss Doron and Terrence. Two guys who actually didn't freeze up in the biggest moments in the tournament and played at their best. We have been missing that. Every year since we have had a key player wet the bed in what would be our last game.

"every so often"? please define
Basically I meant that we should have won 2 titles so far in Cal's 8 seasons at bare minimum. Truthfully it should really be 3 but just 2 would be enough to overlook the other blown opportunities and be satisfied with what Cal has done so far.

One out of eight apparently isn't up to snuff
With the players and teams we have had and as many times we have made the Final Four, hell no 1 out of 8 isn't enough.

The homers will never admit it but we are underachieving and pissing away one of the best opportunities UK has ever had to win titles.

^^^ doesn't understand how much sheer luck/chance goes into winning a title due to the enormous parity in college basketball coupled with a single elimination tournament.

The guy who just won his third title last night? After his second, he went seven seasons without even making it to a final four.

We've been to the final four four times...we've won once...that is completely and utterly acceptable. You are massively dumb
